Wonderful!!
I was slightly concerned about the hotel after some of the reviews, but very pleasantly surprised! They gave us a complementary upgrade to a junior suite on arrival (Hilton gold membership). Beautiful room, large bathroom with heated floors, lovely view over looking the park. Staff was helpful, breakfast was great, wonderful stay! I can see how someone used to top of the line, brand new hotels, might be turned off by the small wear and tear of a 100+ year old hotel, but over all the maintenance was fine and it had the touches that made it feel five star. It was a perfect way to start our trip and a great way to do Versailles.

Excellent stay - stay longer if you can
We spent 1 night but wish it had been more. The hotel (palace side - we didn’t explore the other building) was gorgeous and the staff were all so kind and helpful. Before our visit the concierge arranged transfer for us so our arrival in Paris was seamless. We ate a very good lunch at Peacock Alley followed by Afternoon tea while we waited for our room to be ready (self induced as we opted for the upgraded room (Amex FHR&Diamond status) which was still being prepared. We stayed in a Junior King Suite which was clean and very large and it had a beautiful view of the gardens. We enjoyed the pool and beautiful hammam, ordering room service to end the night which was also outstanding. We very much appreciated the welcome amenity and recognition of our visit. So much attention to detail here! The location was perfect for our early morning entry to the palace with a beautiful walk through the gardens to get there. The only thing I’d change is our length of stay - we wish we had stayed least 2 nights so we could really relax and explore the palace and grounds without feeling rushed. There is so much to see!

Absolutely do not smoke on the micro balcony.will charge extra 150 euros after you stled your bill
Very nice hotel and experience indeed.I made the major mistake of smoking on the micro balcony of our room and left a glass of water with some cigarettes inside. After I had paid my bill and arrived home some hours later I discovered that the hotel without any notice nor contacting me just charged me additional 150 euros by using my credit card print..Voila.A nice moment completly ruined by this particular behaviour. If you charge me some extra costs you please contact me and justify BEFORE just using my card datas as you like.

Carried by Versailles, Failed by Service
The Waldorf Astoria (Amex Collection) was, frankly, disappointing. The building itself is stunning and the rooms are large and practical, but beyond that it feels soulless. The hotel leans heavily on its surroundings rather than delivering a proper guest experience. Even with Ramsay’s name attached, there’s very little character. The decor in the rooms is tacky and dated, more budget than luxury. Front desk operations were clearly under-resourced, and staff came across as rigid and overly procedural. You have to ask for everything, often more than once, and there’s no sense of proactive service. We saw multiple guests left hanging without any clear timelines on room readiness. If you’re booking through Amex, forget early check-in. Yes, it’s “subject to availability,” but in practice it seems to be a blanket no. Valet parking was fine initially, but when we returned the next day just to walk the grounds and offered to use valet again, the reception was oddly reluctant and unnecessarily officious. Breakfast was poor. Cold plates, undercooked eggs, and overall just unpleasant. Avoid ordering anything cooked to order, it arrives cold and unappealing. Evening dining outside of the Ramsay restaurant was average at best, and the crockery and glasses had that unmistakable dirty dishwasher smell, which is unacceptable at this level. Ultimately, while the property looks impressive, it lacks warmth. Not temperature, but atmosphere. There’s no sense of comfort, no personality, no attention to detail where it actually matters. It feels like the hotel assumes the grandeur of the location will carry the experience. It doesn’t. And bluntly, it doesn’t deserve to be on the Amex Collection list, or anywhere near it in its current state.

Fantastic Hotel
Unfortunately we only stayed for 1 night but I didn’t want to leave! Super friendly and helpful staff, gorgeous and spacious room with high end amenities. Comfortable bed and pillows meant a great sleep was had. The pool area was quiet first thing and the breakfast was truly outstanding with a huge amount of choice. The grounds are beautifully kept and our view onto them was appreciated. We really can’t wait to return. Thank you all so much for a memorable stay.
