Rundown and dirty property not fit to be called a Marriott
We spent 5 nights at this property and were unbelievably disappointed. As a platinum member, I think this may be one of the most run-down and dirtiest Marriott-branded properties I’ve stayed at. There is a complete lack of maintenance in the rooms and the property as a whole. Things were falling apart, molding, rusting, and just generally dirty. We found hair in the shower upon check-in and the first morning went to enjoy the breakfast buffet to find moldy fruit on the buffet. We never returned to the restaurant choosing instead to pay to eat off-site for all meals. This property is in massive need of a full scale renovation and in its current state should not be branded as a Marriott. I would certainly never stay here again and in hindsight should have checked out early and gone elsewhere on the island.

Memorable Stay
Kristy, the pre-arrival ambassador, is the reason our stay was so memorable! She had emailed me prior to our stay to ask if I had any requests. I mentioned my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. I also mentioned that we were staying 3 nights total. The first 2 nights were under my name and the last night under my wife's name due to a free night award that she had in her Marriott Bonvoy account. I have Platinum elite status and one of the perks is complimentary breakfast for 2 each morning. I asked if she could extend the breakfast benefit to the 3rd night under my wife's name. She had no problem doing that even though Bonvoy rules say the hotel is not required to do that. I had also asked Kristy if we could stay in the same room for all 3 nights. I had been upgraded to a Na Hale wing room for the 2 nights under my name due to Suite Night Awards that I used. Kristy was able to get us to stay in the same upgraded room for the 3rd night under my wife's name for no additional charge. That was really nice. She went above and beyond. At check-in I was surprised that Kristy personally met my wife and I and walked us to our room. She also provided us with some cookies as a gift for our anniversary. She seems to care about her job and is the reason I'm writing this review. The 2nd floor room we had in the Na Hale wing was very nice. The Na Hale wing is a separate small building closer to the ocean with 14 rooms The bathroom was huge with 2 sinks and a LARGE walk in shower. We had a balcony looking at the fish pond and ocean. It was beautiful! Be aware that there is no elevator in the Na Hale wing, but that was not an issue for us. We ate the continental breakfast buffet each morning which was included for being a Platinum Bonvoy member. There was a $12/person upcharge for the full breakfast, but the continental breakfast was more than sufficient. The continental breakfast had fruits, breads, and pastries. It even included hot items such as waffles, pancakes, and one meat. BE AWARE that the breakfast area is outdoors and the birds are not afraid of people. They will fly on your table and eat your food if you aren't careful. Don't leave the table unattended with food on it. The downside to everything is the $30 resort fee. I absolutely hate resort fees and find them to be an easy way for hotels to get extra revenue. It did include a list of things including daily activities and 2 drinks. I knew of the resort fee beforehand, so it was no surprise. Overall a great stay and we would come back. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Kona on our 4th night and it wasn't comparable. The Waikoloa Beach location of the Marriott is much better than being in Kona.

Amazing service and beautiful location
Checked in late due after a LONG DAY attending a funeral in Waimea. Tried to use the Mobile key and it didn’t work, but Kainoa showed up fast and didn’t make us walk all the way back to the lobby to get a key. Front desk staff Keani and Debbie were AMAZINGLY helpful and sweet. Michaela at the pool was super attentive and sweet! Loved our stay and can’t wait to come back!

Great pool and beach areas
Beautiful resort and friendly staff. Many complementary services such as yoga, lei making, drinks at check in, lei at check in, etc. The lobby and bar area offers a lot of comfy seating with views. The pool area was spectacular with a sand bottom pool, waterslide, infinity pool, and multiple jacuzzis. It is a short walk to the large beach beyond the pool and walking distance from Lava Lava's along the beach. There are a lot of shops nearby to explore.

We Were Very Happy!
This resort did not disappoint! Clean rooms, friendly staff, and lots of shops for anything you might need. We loved the resort atmosphere with restaurants in walking distance and stores where you can buy bottles of water and other snacks without having to drive somewhere. The only negative for me, as someone who is very careful about being in the sun, is that it sure would have been nice to have more umbrellas available at the pool without having to pay for a day bed. All in all a great experience and I would recommend this resort. It's one of the few hotels worth staying at that has access to the beach as well as a pool.
