    Great Birthday stay

I recently went for a birthday stay and I have to say its the people that make this great! Chatting online on the app with a room request I ended up speaking with Anette the front desk manager - not only was she instantly welcoming - empathic to my requests and assuring it would be a great stay - she made sure when I messaged I was on my way she was actually at the front desk to greet me personally! Add Lacey at the outdoor bar/eatery - also made me feel like Ohana for my birthday stay and her conversation added to the Day! The pool is nice and relaxing - having one of the only sandy beaches with a hotel and the proximity of Lava Lava add to this. The multiple Jacuzzis made it so you always had one to soak in and your own Jet. The rooms are decent with comfortable beds - I did get a microwave for a fee as I needed to feed my teenager every hour and they had it ready and waiting in my room. Parking is a fee but easy and right there. This is a very "non stressful" place to stay with everything right there and easy walk. No trams or boats required. And better is a staff with a "yes" attitude even on crowded holiday times.

It is not a four star not even 2 star

This was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime. There is nothing to do around there. The walk was so long to everywhere. 1 restaurant 1 bar that closes at 9. Breakfast buffet is 100.00 for 2 people. Same thing everyday. The food was good way overpriced for what you get. Our travel agent had booked this for us. We were expecting a lot. Huh don’t count on it. The rooms were very small. We paid extra to see ocean. Lol what a joke. Never would I send nobody there. Plus the Ironman was there. It was hell. I have stayed at comfort inn much bigger. They were short staffed. Didn’t even have a microwave. 4star my booty. I wouldn’t even give one. After talking to others we all got ripped off. The money we paid for this dump was sad a dream vacation ruined the room was so small ocean view lol we could see the ocean that’s it. No place to buy souvenirs except the Rhe ABC store. What a joke. Do not stay here!! No night life at all none!! The bar was so far to walk on the. Beach about 1/2 mile we couldn’t use it. The food was good but not for a 4 star restaurant. My vacation was ruined. Don’t book here. My birthday was celebrated while there they couldn’t even give us a good place to eat. The room was clean for what we paid I expected over the top instead a big flop. I do not know what my travel agent thought this would be good. I would not give it a 1. So disappointed. Please don’t stay here and let it ruin your vacation also.

Not on par with Marriott- dated and catered to the older clientele/timeshare owners

We came for a couples trip and ended up leaving early because we were so uncomfortable at this hotel. We are in our thirties and everyone around us was much older than we were. The spa was dated, although the massage was great. The amenities are very dated and the spa is definitely catered to the older clientele: They even had a plastic shower chair in the shower at the spa (I understand it’s necessary for the clientele but I wasn’t aware that this was the clientele they catered to). Definitely wasn’t a place for a young couple to relax. Since it was a timeshare property, we felt like we were joining other people’s vacations that frequent the property. There were salesy timeshare desks around the lobby and cafe. The first room they put us in was horrible- small, no view, hole in the screen door, dated decor. For an additional charge they upgraded us to the hale suites which were much more spacious (almost too much space) but were still not very comfortable. The walls were very thin and we heard the people above us constantly. The food was mediocre and wasn’t made with much love. There is no place to get a nice drink to end your evening as everything shuts down by 9pm. We were totally unaware of the clientele and vibe of this property based on the good reviews and it is definitely catered to the timeshare crowd. Most of the employees wouldn’t look you in the eye, ignored you, or were very short- no aloha spirit. From the cafe to the restaurant to the valet, we felt no hospitality. Overall wouldn’t recommend for a younger couple and not on par with what I would expect from Marriott.

    Wouldn't stay here again

We booked this resort because we love the Maui Marriott Ocean Club. The resort itself is under renovations. Our room was clean. The lady who cleaned our room every day was great. The highlight of our trip was the front desk lady who has been working at the resort for 25 years. She was so sweet and a gem to talk to. However the man who is the front desk manager was terrible. For several days our room smelled like weed due to someone on our floor smoking weed. The hall, our room, everything smelled horrible. We called and he Saif there wasn't anything he could do. We had kids with us and the last thing we wanted after spending so much money was for our whole family to smell weed in a non smoking hotel. The pool was nice and the hot tubs. For a family friendly hotel we felt the activities were lacking and the activity directors weren't very friendly with our kids. Overall we would not stay here again.

Great fall break trip with kids

We traveled with 2 other families--6 kids in all. The staff here were amazing! Elizabeth, at the front desk, helped us get a room near our friends and was super helpful whenever we had questions. Thank you, Elizabeth!! The pool is very kid friendly. The water slide was great, but the kids ended up playing in the pool more than going down it. The hotel is very walkable to restaurants and coffee shops.
