    Lovely stay

Recently returned from the Villa. What a treat I felt as if I was on a movie set. The property is stunning. Hard to believe you are in the middle of the Rome Great location ,very walkable. Special shout out to Marta the lovely concierge. She enhanced our stay by recommending restaurants we would enjoy. The pool area is lovely and appreciated after a long, hot day of sightseeing. The rooms are small. The bathroom is extremely modern with a glass wall. I myself am not a fan of this concept . Highly highly recommend.

An amazing hotel with amazing staff!

An amazing hotel with amazing staff! Everyone went out of their way to accommodate us! Special thank you to the lovely Rossella! She helped us with restaurants, even made special reservations for us AND ensured we had transportation to/from as well as our airport service. She was just the best! We got to know many of the staff, special shout out to the outstanding sommelier and wait staff! They are truly wonderful humans! We used the spa services, and it was, by far, the BEST experience ever! From the various facilities, sauna, ice, hot/cold emotion showers, steam room, huge jacuzzi, beverages, staff, everything! The rooms facing the front of the hotel do have A LOT of road noise so beware of that. We definitely will be back! Thank you so very much to everyone at Villa Agrippina!

    Excellent hotel!

Booked this hotel for mum’s birthday weekend trip as she had been dreaming about going on a solo holiday to Rome since she was younger, and she couldn’t be happier! The hotel checked all the lists that made her trip enjoyable: the room was comfortable, the spa and the room service was excellent, the pool, the restaurants, the concierge team was always at her disposal to help her getting a cab to go around, the location was convenient, etc. Special shout out to Ferry for taking care of her during breakfast everyday. Mum could be a bit picky about her food and drinks, and Ferry was always more than happy and patient to accommodate all of her requests and talked to her everyday. She said the only bad thing about this trip is that it’s too short and she wished she could stay there longer. Thank you Gran Melia for making my mum happy! Love, Sarah

    Wonderful stay in Rome

After a red-eye flight from the US east coast, we arrived at Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá. Rome was getting warm for April — temps above 80 degrees Fahrenheit — but we were thrilled to discover that they had just opened the pool for the season and all too happy to spend our first day in Italy recovering from the trip with poolside drinks and snacks. Our room was a "SUPREME WITH VIEW," which was on the second floor overlooking the gardens, with views of some Vatican buildings a short distance away. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The only critical note that I can offer is that the shower was a little difficult to climb in and out of; I can imagine this being a problem for guests with more limited mobility. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly without fail, especially toward our young daughter, who is 11 and experimenting with her independence — for example, they were delighted to welcome her early to the breakfast buffet while my wife and I took our time getting downstairs. The location is up a small hill from the nearest bus station along the Tiber, with very convenient access to the Vatican and Trastevere. We tend to walk a lot on our vacations, and found it very easy to get to most of our must-see locations. We will definitely come back on our next trip!

Beautiful Rome getaway at a wonderful hotel

My husband and I stayed at Villa Agrippina from May 25 to June 2. It is a wonderful hotel nestled in the area surrounding the Vatican. The first thing I want to mention is the staff - every single one of them. It was like staying with a warm and welcoming Italian family. The people at the concierge desk were friendly and extremely helpful and so were the people at the check in desk. The hotel has a very large gorgeous outdoor pool that we started every day swimming in and the pool attendant Marco was super friendly and funny and made our mornings very pleasant. We chose a lovely room with a large terrace with a jacuzzi that we enjoyed after our swim. There was one problem with the room that I have to mention because other people should know this - the bath tub could be dangerous for older people and anyone with issues with strength, balance or flexibility - it was very high and difficult to climb into and there was no separate shower. The tub had a rain shower but no grab rails and the tub was also very narrow and curved on the bottom making it difficult to balance in. The faucets were placed low so you had to bend over to turn the water on and off. I mentioned this to the people at the front desk who told me they have other types of bathrooms but I didn’t request another room because my husband and I are super fit seniors and we could manage it. I would have liked to have been informed about this situation when I booked it. A walk in shower would have been better However we will definitely go back to this hotel because it was simply wonderful and a major contributor to making our trip perfect. Oh - and the food is delicious!
