Valentin is practical perfect in every way... 60th birthday/St. Patricks Day!

Having gone to Mexico 10 times along with DR and Jamaica, mainly staying at Adult Only, All Inclusives, we can honestly say that this is the best all around resort that we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing and we will definitely return. The price point was higher than some previous vacations, however, better than some with our travel agent pricing. The overall value was the greatest and with so much to do and see in this large resort, we didn't spend much extra money other than tips, and only went on one half day trip, which left right from the pool to do swim with turtles and cenote. It was a small group, personal and spectacular because it left early enough that our group of about 10 were the only ones on the beach and then at the small cenote and the van brought us right back to the pool in time for lunch, perfect. The food was the best at any AI we've ever been to with the French and the Italian being the nicest experience but the Asian was actually our favorite go-to because it was 3 restaurants in one - there was the one reservations required hibatchi, always fun, hidden behind paper sliding doors, the sushi bar, where you could also order from the main menu and not have sushi, and then the regular tables which is in a lovely atmosphere as well. One complaint we had was that generally we were early diners so could easily get into restaurants, but if you waited until 7 or 730 - the waitlist was very long, believe it was at about 95% capacity March 13-25th when we went, but an hour and a half is too long to wait when there is no buffet option and only the French and Italian had buzzers to let you know when your table was ready. I suggest all should have buzzers, especially the Mexican because we tried twice to go there and with no bar area to hang out in, its more remote location, away from the main square where people wait out their time and listen to a band, that was a disappointment, but our fault for not going earlier or later, and we are looking forward to dining both outside and inside at the Mexican in the future. We never did the Asian fusion as the menu didn't appeal to us and the Mar Y Tiara was awesome regardless of what side or for breakfast or lunch, all great. Food trucks were great, especially the shrimp burger over at Golden Pool area, take a stroll over there and hang out under a palapa in some peace and quiet for the most part, really beautiful paths, especially strolling at night with the lights and heading towards the beautiful beach. Beach palapas were plentiful, the preferred palapas strangely are on the rocky side of the beach, but we did not upgrade and were glad we didn't because of that, the fact that my hubby wouldn't eat the lobster, we don't care either way about the liquor bottles because we drink more beer (Coors light cans!) or frozen drinks and the pool palapas were on the quieter side, which makes sense but not located where you can be part of the animation fun, so for us, the upgrade wasn't worth it, but... if I had a group of people, I'd suggest it so that you will not have to do the chair game, which was very high, and yes, I did set my alarm for early morning to claim chairs under specific beach spot or pool palapa area where we could also see animation team activities and get to the swim up bars easily and even when I was early, it was a challenge to get spots I wanted. More shade needs to be around the pools, but one of the big issues was that some folks who had a bali bed reserved, also reserved chairs under the shaded areas by the pool AND reserved the chairs in the full sun right in front of them in the pool, come on people! 6 chairs for 2 people is just greedy and selfish especially when they don't sit in them more than 10 minutes the whole day. So my advice is that if you observe no one in chairs for a while, just put your stuff down and go sit in them or have staff member assist. The few shows we stayed up late enough to see were great, wish we saw more. We were in building 5, 2nd floor and our balcony overlooked the pool, but because the landscaping is so lush and awesome, from our balcony we could not even see the pool and sound was muffled so it was so peaceful with birds and flowers, beautiful. Our morning ritual was that we had the concierge, located right in the first floor of our building, set up a daily morning delivery of 4 waters (we needed extra waters each day) along with a fruit plate and coffee. The nespresso in the room was ok, but much preferred the fresh coffee delivery. We ordered room service for dinner and late night and each time it was great, shrimp alfredo, turkey club, chocolate cake, glasses of wine, whatever you like, they will bring 24/7 pretty quickly. Staff was great, never had a problem with anyone, the bathrooms around the resort are amazing, although I wish one was closer to the swimmable beach area, coffee house Sistal was a welcome cool space, the sports bar was friendly and fun and the piano bar and those drinks were amazing. We stayed 13 nights and were never bored, we made sure to move around to different areas most days to have different experiences, I suggest that over what it seems a lot of other people do, which is camp out in one spot. Fine for short trips, but longer ones, make sure to go to beach bar, golden pool, take the bike tour, etc. As I said, the reason for the 1 less star for this trip was the dinner issues of waiting with no buzzers, but if you want to avoid, you could upgrade and make reservations. Personally, I don't want reservation times unless we have to like hibatchi, because I'm very scheduled in my work life, so our fault for not always going early or late, but there's always the beach restaurant which is easier to get in to, grab a snack at sistal or room service, or just eat fresh churros from the cart! lol. This was the most amazing, beautifully landscaped resort that even when at capacity, other than prime dinner timing, never felt too crowded. We met great, friendly people each day and so many of them have been there multiple times. I applaud this resort and its awesome staff for the amazing upkeep, food, landscaping, classy, yet fun, atmosphere and we cannot wait to see you again in the spring and enjoy the few things that we didn't get a chance to do last time!

    Welcome Home

This was our 9th time coming "home!" We were celebrating our 17th anniversary along with my parents (their 2nd time at VIM) who were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and my sister and brother in law (first timers) celebrating their 11th. The Valentin Imperial Maya delivered everything we were used to and more! My parents booked the newly renovated Diamond Privé in building 5. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! and the service was top notch 👌🏽. Food at ALL of the restaurants kept me wanting more. The trip was full of love and luxury. Thank you my VIM Family!

    Beautiful Resort

The grounds are well maintained, and we really enjoyed the pools. The staff is friendly, and the restaurants are good, our favorite was the Indonesian. Entertainment was fun both during the day at the pool and the evening shows. Rooms are spacious but not a lot of privacy if you need it during potty time, better be real comfortable with your person ;)

    Wonderful! Highly recommend!

My husband and I returned in June for our 13th visit. As always, we were very pleased with everything. Food, drinks, service, entertainment (especially the Imperial Band) were great. There were a few things that I didn't care for. One was still not having menus and having to rely on QR codes. I believe this has been a topic with many people who agree with not having menus. Phones are very unreliable. There were several times I couldn't get my phone to work correctly. And like many have mentioned, I would rather not have my phone out. I would just like to experience a nice dinner without having the distraction of a phone. I also miss the paper journal that was delivered to the room each night. I also didn't care for the new menu at the French restaurant. Not that it was terrible, but I missed not being able to order some of my favorites. I also wish they would bring back the breakfast and lunch buffet at Mar y Tierra. Overall, we had a wonderful time and highly recommend. Looking forward to trip #14!
