A married couple in their early 50s review - October 2024 (first visit)
My hubby and I (we are in our early 50s) came here for the first time in Oct (beginning of Oct) for 10 days. Friends of our (husband and wife) go yearly and they rave about it. — arrival to resort was fantastic. No waiting really and no sales people waiting to talk to you about other options/excursions etc. I really liked that. Made it feel more like a vacation. Lobby is beautiful. The main area around lobby is kinda like a small village which is really cool. Almost like a large movie set! Grounds are beautiful. The stone paths everywhere are neat, but the beach entrance (sand paths) are even better! Or room was very nice, room service was great. The mini-bar in room is very simple. It was ok for us, although more of it all would have been nice considering it is an all inclusive. (a more expensive all inclusive) . Our view from room was beautiful. The concierge in their own small office outside of each building was nice to have. They help book things, explain things in a more private setting and then you can carry on with your day. 4 things stood out for us on our trip; 1. the eating out experience 2. beach area 3. entertainment 4. Dora! I would say Valentin’s entertainment was exceptional. 10 out of 5 if I could. Entertainment was varied and in different areas (outside areas) of the resort and at times inside some of the restaurants/bars there. We LOVED walking around at night either before or after dinner and stumbling across a full band with very talented musicians playing a variety of tunes, open air, lots of comfy seating and a bar… and staff coming to take your drink order wherever we sat this time… loved this. Very impressed with Valentin’s entertainment. I hope they keep this going as it’s a huge part of the experience here and it makes them stand out from other resorts similar, whether they are adult only or not. Beaches were beautiful. Service good but they get busy and would take a bit to get things, but hey, we are on vacation. We didn’t worry too much and also we tipped often. They deserve it and work very hard in the heat. Our dining out experience was also what made this trip great for us. We don’t get a chance to do this 10 days in a row! SO, it was terrific. We had a date night every night and it was really fun people watching. lol . Lots of that here too. People from all over.a real mix which was great. Re eating out, we really enjoyed our times at the beach restaurant. We could dress up or down and our views from there were like out of a movie! We looked out to palm trees, blue water and sand. We found booking was best for the others (I think you have to otherwise you would be waiting too long; and line ups start..) There is however the buffet which we did twice for sure in morning. It’s nice to just go when you feel like it and serve your food yourself etc, (eggs, fruit and whatever else you like lots of) and there is a server per table of course getting anything like coffee, other bevies. Their americanos were awesome. I ordered lots of these cause I don’t drink (hubby does) and the coffee (espresso) here and at restaurants was delicious. Desserts at restaurants other than the mousse one we had at the Italian one or Mexican one (can’t remember which one) were so so at best. (Just my opinion). The churros served at night from a cart outside of restaurants on the path, were better than any dessert at any of the restaurants we ate at. We had one almost every night when the entertainment started outside! Glad they had this as it was a nice treat. Our experience at the Asian grill place where they cook it in front of you in a separate room was not great. We went in a small group (we didn’t know them) and the first cook was condescending we thought. Not very nice. It was ok though as I’m sure they deal with extremely obnoxious drunk people that are rude and don’t tip. So I got that. I guess. The next chef was very good BUT the tuna was dry other food in dish (besides the rice) was extremely salty. Very salty. Couldn’t finish it. To top it off our table-sharers seemed to enjoy everything but left after the dinner here and clearly didn’t leave a tip. We did as it was an experience but again, not pleasant service by first guy and food was too salty to eat. I think we would try it again when we go back (we will be) but would go solo (just us) and maybe try something different and tell them our last one was way too salty. See how that goes. Other than that the other restaurants were fantastic, great service, delicious food, great portions…very nice. I went to the spa and it was nice. I felt a bit rushed throughout though unfortunately. I will admit I WAS maybe 5 minutes max late. One of the women poked her head in the locker area to see if I was ready to go. It was a little rushed. Massage was good. Might do something next time, might not. The area for spa did not seems like there was much to it. Rooms for services were basic , nice , but basic. The nail service I had was not great. The technician was very nice and all but they had issues wit the polish I picked (twice) I guess not many people picked the colour so she wasn’t sure if it was old or what. It was unfortunate they didn’t not have 1 fresh one on site. Nor was she sure the second one (shade) I picked would hold up as she had to take some off in between. I was disappointed at this. I really don’t ask for much with pedicures and don’t wear any make up really lol but I like to have my toes done so this was really crappy. Nail area (I know it was their off ish season) but when you come to a resort like this they should have the basics ready to go. She told me she would make note that I might have to come back to get a polish change if this second one I picked didn’t hold up and she also took a long time I thought to do just a gel polish… so I’d give my nail experience here a 2 out of 10 and other spa services a 6/10. I tipped though of course. BTW the second colour help up fine on my toes. Let’s see, definitely loved the pools! gym was great too. Water in the gym was nice to have and the outdoor part of it was great. Servers at pools were fantastic. Bartender excellent. Drinks were great! We did laundry and it came back all nicely folded etc. very nice to do a few loads (I should say have it done for you) once through this trip. It was worth the money and there was no waiting by machines here… ;) Lots of walking to places but that was great for us. Good exercise and allows you to take in the beautiful grounds. A very clean place by the way. We loved that too. Highly recommend Valentin! Beautiful beaches and beach areas, exceptional dining experience and top-notch entertainment here. Thank you Dora for following up with us on check-out day and for encouraging us to submit a review of our trip. We will be back and will be trying everything again and some different things too! Pictures incoming!!!!!

Best all inclusive!
Beautiful place with amazing food! Great service! Lots of people have said they were on the 2-6th trip! That says a lot. Food was the best I’ve ever had at any resort and I’ve been to multiple. If you don’t save a lounger at 5am in the morning for main pool then you are SOL. That’s my only complaint and there should be stricter rules on that. Main pool is loud and fun . Spin class in the water is killer. Spa is incredible… best massage I’ve ever had. Osmar is our favorite server! The whole experience here is wonderful. Beautiful grounds and lots of fun wildlife! I could go on but I’ll just let you go and see you next time:)

Amazing resort with growing pains
2nd time visiting this resort and my first time ever repeating a resort in the 20+ times I’ve been down south. An excellent resort, extremely clean and well managed. However I am taking off a star (could’ve been two) for the following reasons: 1. The reserving of chairs with towels or slippers or magazines it’s simply out of control. People simply throw their old towels or magazines on chairs before sleeping. Saw dozens of cases of people reserving multiple chairs at multiple pools!!! This absolutely ruins the experience in a major way. Why is the resort allowing this to happen?! Why aren’t all towels simply being cleared over night? We know that people are greedy and have no shame but why is this being allowed? Two chairs in the shade two chairs in the sun and at all three pools? UNACCEPTABLE. 2. The music and entertainment… if I hear sweet Caroline or YMCA one more time I will have a tantrum. Beleive it or not some of us travel to Mexico for the culture and music. Why am I hearing rock music night and day?! What this resulted in is us going to bed every night at 10:30 pm while the 60+ American crowd danced to the same songs every night. 3. I consider myself a great tipper and tipped $400 plus in the 10 days i was there however I don’t like feeling pressured for tips and that is very much so the case here. I get the feeling that the hotel is not paying their employees well. It’s just exhausting. Why am I getting attitude from the bartender in the pool bar when I simply can’t have cash in my swimsuit? 4. The drinks… there is something definitely going on with the liquor being served here. 6+ drinks had the effect of 1 drink at playa del Carmen downtown. This doesn’t make sense and makes me think that the alcohol is being watered down etc. Loved this resort and enjoyed it however it is for these reasons that I will not be back.

Perfect place to relax
I have absolutely nothing to complain about. The food was fabulous. All the servers were beyond wonderful. The rooms were immaculate. There were people working on any issues around the hotel continually making it as beautiful as it could possibly be. The drinks were awesome. Top brand liquor. wasn’t a drink they didn’t know how to make ! The activities were fabulous. The workers around the pool got everyone motivated and engaged. They offer so many different activities. The evening shows were tap notch entertainment. At dinner there would be music sax player at one place. The French restaurant had a cello player. I feel all of that was bonuses to an already very well ran establishment.
