A relaxing family getaway
Just spent the most relaxing week here and already dreaming about coming back. We traveled as a family of six adults (3 couples) staying in the Club area of the resort. Some highlights: - Faisanella breakfast ft. all the freshly squeezed juices. - All the wildlife around the resort! We saw (and heard) a family of howler monkeys almost daily, plus iguanas around the pool and birds everywhere. - Shoutouts to Monica from the Club concierge, who helped us make reservations for our party of six before they were even live in the app (Big fans of Bamboo, the Asian/sushi restaurant); Bergen, the day concierge for Tower 1 who remembered us by name and was so helpful; and Eduardo for leading a very fun water aerobics class! - The Club concierge happy hour at 5 pm every day – sandwiches, ceviche, chips, guac/pico, cookies, drinks. All delicious. - We also loved La Sabana, the Costa Rican restaurant. The short rib might’ve been the best thing we ate at the resort all week. Also recommend the takeaway pizza from Spirula for a quick lunch. - The resort was allegedly 95% full, but it definitely didn’t feel that way. We had no issues getting reservations at the restaurants or being seated promptly at the ones without them, grabbing chairs by the pool or on the beach, participating in activities, or calling/flagging down golf carts if we needed a ride during the day or at night. We also did an excursion through Eric G down on the beach, where we took a river cruise and got up close and personal with some white-faced capuchin monkeys who boarded our boat! And a shoutout to Maggie and Diana of the orange massage tent on the beach – they were fantastic. For $40/hour massage, we were able to visit several times throughout the week. It was so relaxing listening to the waves while getting every single knot worked out!

fabulous pool
We loved this hotel! By far, it has the best pool we have ever floated around in with a frosty cold drink from the swim up bar! Pool temperature was perfect. Wildlife can be seen all over the property, the howler monkeys will put a smile on your face every time you see them playing in the trees, golf course or strolling through the property. Plenty of lounge chairs around the pool offering shade or sun. The rooms are well appointed, quiet and comfortable. Food was good with lots of options to change it up each day. Loved the water aerobics class and getting a message on the beach. The beach is all seashells, cool to see. Swimmable too. We had rented a car at the airport- I won’t go into the details but we were left stranded with Hertz saying they didn't have a car for us. Lucky for us, the Westin had a booth in the baggage claim area and were able to help us with a transfer to their property. The Westin is fully staffed and ready to help make your stay enjoyable. Traveling as a couple, we were not excited to stay at a property full of kids. We had considered the W which is on the other side of the golf course but decided we couldn't pass on the pool and all the fun stuff the Westin had to offer. Even with the kids, we still loved this hotel and have been recommending it to all our friends. The golf course looked wonderful and we had wished we had brought our golf clubs You can move around this property with ease; the shuttles are constantly available to get you around the property. It was also nice to walk the property, enjoy an evening stroll back to the room after a fun night out. There is nightly entertainment to enjoy after dinner. This hotel is first rate and beautiful evening sunsets can be viewed on beach. It is perfect for sun loving couples, friends and families. The staff is there to help you in any way and to be sure you have a great time. No complaints only smiles

3 Star Experience, 5 Star Price
Here’s a polished, professional version that is firm but credible and balanced: ⸻ We chose this property expecting the level of quality typically associated with The Westin brand. While the staff we interacted with were kind and professional, the overall experience felt like a 3-star stay at a 5-star price point. At booking, it was never clearly communicated that we would be placed in the Family Club category. We only learned upon arrival that this limited access to more than half of the resort’s restaurants. The concept itself is not the issue, but the lack of transparency significantly reduced our dining options. Of the restaurants we were permitted to access, several required reservations. We requested reservations at check-in but never received confirmation. When we followed up the next day, we were told everything was fully booked and we might have availability the following day or later. It ultimately took multiple follow-ups, including my husband visiting the Family check-in desk again on our third day, to secure a reservation. Dining should not require this level of effort at a resort of this caliber. Our first dinner experience was also disappointing. Multiple wines listed on the menu were out of stock, but we only learned that after attempting to order them. My husband ordered a Moscow Mule that could not be made because they were out of ginger beer. My steak, ordered medium, arrived extremely rare and tough and was inedible. The overall experience felt disorganized and below expectations. Our room presented several issues as well. We had ants and had to place trash cans outside nightly. Multiple windows had visible cracks, allowing warm air and insects, including geckos, into the room. The bathroom was consistently hot due to air leakage and had a persistent odor that suggested it had not been thoroughly cleaned. The general cleanliness of the grounds was also concerning. Early one morning around 7:00 AM, there were leftover lemon and lime wedges, dirt, and trash around the pool from the previous day, along with several large dead cockroaches. When we returned from breakfast, the pool area was still being cleaned, which made it difficult for our children to swim. The staff were polite and helpful when approached, and we appreciate their efforts. However, the overall experience did not reflect what we expect from a Westin property at this price point.

First all inclusive and it was GREAT!
First all-inclusive with our 9 and 11 year old daughters and we LOVED it (typically a Four Seasons family). The beach is perfection, waves are kid friendly, water beautiful and lots to do at the resort. Iguanas are everwhere, the activity squad is amazing (especially Ronnie and Julissa) and I cannot say enough good things about the enitre stay. We did a coctail making class with Bryan (was so good) and a ceviche making class at the pool with our kids and we also really enjoyed that. Manglar was our favorite restaurant the filet mignon, tuna tartare and sangria were amazing. Loved all the choices at the food hall. My kids had a blast at kareoke nite and the silent disco dance party. I got a $40 massage with SAMI on the beach which was one of the best. Our room was great too, great service all around. Felt incredibly safe, taken care of and always fun stuff to do if you want. LOVED IT and will be back.
