Beautiful Stay in Paris
We are in the middle of our stay at the Westin here in Paris. The entire experience so far has been excellent. When checking in late in the evening we were provided with a warm, friendly welcome from the staff on the front desk. Provided with complimentary bottles of water which were definitely needed. We were offered advice about staying in Paris and offered assistance with our luggage. The staff had a friendly genuine nature in their manner. Our room has been outstanding, with views overlooking the park in front of the Louvre, Tuileries Garden. It has provided excellent opportunities for people watching! The location of the hotel is ideal with public transport links easily accessed from a 1-2 minute walk. The Louvre is a brief 5-10 minute walk through Tuileries Gardens, Disneyland Paris was a 15 minute walk, then 45 minute RER journey. The bedroom is very comfortable, with pleasant amenities like lavender oil to support a good night’s sleep. Lots of lovely cafes and restaurants around the hotel - including a delicious cup of hot chocolate from a well known brand of Parisian cafe nearby!
Great Location, Gym in Sad Shape
I have stayed more than 50 nights at the Westin Place Vendome. It is a great location for seeing Paris. The breakfast is good. Very historic building. Over the many years that I have stayed there, some improvements have been made. The lighting has been made brighter. My bed was firm and the room was quiet. The gym needs attention now. Many years ago the Westin Vendome did not have a proper gym, and one was constructed in the basement. Unfortunately, the gym has been let to decline. On a visit this weekend, of the four treadmills, two are out of service. Of the remaining two treadmills, both are in a sorry state. The screeching of the treadmill I was on today indicates that it has never been properly lubricated. I am sure that these treadmills get a lot of use, but the equipment has to be maintained. The Westin Paris Vendome needs to now replace those four machines – they are old – at least five or six years old. Many guests can run in the park, which is great. But some of us have lung disease, exercised-induced asthma, and so cannot and prefer not to run in the February rainy cold season outdoors.
Amazing location but in need of urgent renovation
The location is spectacular and they were very kind to give us upgrade and early check in at 11 am. Our suite had a fantastic view on the jardins des Tuileries and the Tour Eiffel. However, the hotel is very tired and in need of URGENT renovation. Stinky carpet in the room, scratched wooden furniture, one armchair had a big hole! Bathroom not well maintained, half working bathtub. Cheap curtains. Service carts and garbage left for hours in the corridors (one cart was there in the morning and still there when we came after dinner!). The glass box in the entrance hall is a disgrace, particularly with those cheap curtains. The inner garden was set up for a business reception and it looked really cheap and sad. A real pity because the place used to be a real gem when it was managed by intercontinental.
Would not waste my time booking this again
This hotel is in an excellent location. But that's it. It's dirty, from the front entrance carpet to the hallways and beyond. Housekeeping is minimal. Front door staff stands around under the heater talking to each other, barely recognizing guests. Homeless sleeping just outside entrance well into morning hours. Did not receive an upgrade in spite of numerous requests, having an abundance of suite night rewards and being a titanium elite lifetime member and the hotel not being close to full. This is not a hospitable hotel. Seems disconnected from Marriott's actual brand as it did not display any of the traditional efforts most of their hotels usually make. I would choose another Marriott property if I came back and sacrifice location for something cleaner. and more full service and interested in their customers.
DO NOT STAY HERE! IT IS SO MUSTY, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE!!
The worst, most racist hotel I have ever at. Was questioned by the general manager if I really stayed here even though I tapped my room card in the elevator right in front of him. Extremely rude and made no attempts to give us any reasoning behind this search. He repeatedly made us show the room card to him. No one else in the elevator was questioned. The hotel is also old and dirty, any service takes over an hour and literally half the light fixtures do not work. Horrible place to stay
