Very good experience
The lobby decorated with good taste, friendliness of the counter staff. The hallways are clean, the room invites you to rest, comfortable mattresses, comfortable pillows, precise control of ambient temperature, the bathroom with a tub-shower, impeccably clean. One of my favorite places to rest

Safety issue and hotel was unresponsive
At 12:30am, someone tried to open my door with a keycard. Luckily I had the lock on the door. Next morning when I checked out, I asked the front desk about it. They had no note on what happened. I asked to speak to the manager on duty. Was told they weren't in yet but that she'd have the manager call me. Never got a call. 3 days later, I called and left a message at unidentified voice mailbox. Still no call back. Hotel is unsafe and unresponsive!

Hotel Being Renovated During My Stay
I can only give this hotel two stars because much was under renovation during the visit, which I would have liked to have known before booking, as it made enjoying all of the possible amenities difficult or impossible. I choose the Westin on my stays in LA when I travel by myself because it's convenient for when I return my rental car before taking the shuttle to the airport -- just a mile or so away. The room itself was fine and what you expect for a Westin, right down to providing the lavender oil to use before going to sleep. The TV made it easy to pair with one's preferred streaming service. The in-room safe was a bit odd, as it was vertical and narrow; could basically just put my wallet in it. Cleaning staff were nice if you bumped into them. Must be mentioned that because of the renovating, the water on my floor was suddenly turned off without warning, right when I wanted to use the bathroom facilities, which was how I discovered the water was off. When I asked maintenance on the floor and then later by phone to the front desk, I got two different estimates as to when things would be restored. Usually when I'm at a hotel and there might be an interruption to water service, a note that morning or the day before would be placed under my door. Would have appreciated that. Fortunately I had access to the lounge to sit and wait without having to go down to the lobby -- but still... I had access to the club lounge for breakfast and afternoon snacks etc. Because the hotel in under renovation, the lounge was temporarily in a converted suite space -- so not fully the relaxing place to go to after returning to the hotel. The coffee was --- not much to say there. Breakfast was fine, though you need to like your bacon extra crispy. Oatmeal was cold. Sliced bread was bigger than the toaster slot size. Staff were all pleasant and helpful, though. Front desk and lobby staff were all friendly and helpful; though the valet at the front door when asked where the nearest convenience store is said, "There's one that way or that way" pointing left and right haha, not indicating how far or which was closer. The lobby shop was well-stocked with travel needs, as well as last-minute LA gift items to take back home. The hotel restaurant had a decent menu, but the fish dish I ordered was very salty. A bit disappointing this time out. I hope next time, if I choose the Westin again, they will be back to their old self again.

Rough moment but still a good experience
The hotel is trying to remain open during a lengthy renovation.Staff continues to be friendly and efficient but, of course, minor inconveniences occur. When noted, the staff does everything to improve the experience. I have stayed here for 30 years now and am looking forward to the upgrades being finished. Meanwhile, I will remain loyal in good faith.

Enjoyable stay
Me and my husband visited last week for a music rally and stayed here 7 nights. I thought the lobby was looking fresh and smelling great, renovation is clearly working wonders. The staff at check in were polite and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, excellent bed linen and super comfy bed. I never usually sleep well away from home and I slept amazingly here! Housekeeping did a great job and were always friendly. Bar staff and cafe staff again were super helpful and they had their work cut out with so many guests for the 4 day rally. The staff in the grill were also excellent and super efficient, they worked very hard to cater to everyone and were exceptionally attentive. Location is great, shuttle from the airport is available . In terms of suggestions, they are fairly minor, the food in the grill was ok, I think it could be great though with a few more healthy options, some of our meals were lacking abit of flavour but some were ok. A flat white and a Late is absolutely not the same thing, I was advised they were in the cafe area, to be fair even in the Starbucks across the road, every coffee I ordered tasted the same whether it was a cappuccino, late or flat white - these are meant to be different. The lifts were very slow, it felt like maybe 1 or 2 were only working out of 6 so it was slow to get up and down from our rooms. They could do with an update but imagine that will come as part of the refurb. We didn't use the pool as it was closed and the gym was moved to a different room. My room was on the 8th floor and it was in a good position looking out to the main road, a little noisy at times but nothing major. The windows needed a clean, they were very dirty but then all the work across the road was probably contributing to that. It was very difficult to get hold of the hotel before our stay. Hotels I have visited around the world always have an email address, this hotel simply says to call which is not convenient for those outside of the country. Oh and WiFi really should not be chargeable, I have never stayed in a hotel that charges. To avoid paying, sign up to become a Marriott bonvoy member and you will get it for free. The WiFi kept logging us out every 24 hours which was annoying as it still said it was connected yet wouldn't work. Not sure if there is an outdoor seating area anywhere, would certainly be worth having perhaps near the pool as the area is not great outside, be much nicer to be able to sit in the sun without leaving the hotel Aside from a few of these points we had a great time and would definitely stay again
