    Disappointing stay for a Westin property

    I'm a Marriot Bonvoy member and I've always liked Westin properties. This property has points for it in the location, the nice ambiance and architecture and ease of parking. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles were on the floor of the shower because there was no shelf installed in the shower. Asked the front desk to send someone to install a shelf, no one came. The digital phone key to unlock the room door didn't work. For any of the phones we had in my party. The lower-level pool was closed for refurbishment, so my son couldn't use the only pool with a slide. Worse yet, the only access to the beach at the lake was via that pool, so we had to lake access, which is the reason we booked there in the first place. The upper pool's jacuzzi was lukewarm, barely warmer than the pool, nowhere near a hot tub temperature. We asked the front desk why and got shrugged shoulders. There are two ping pong tables, one was dilapidated and unplayable with a sagging net and damaged legs. The working table was constantly in use as a result. The recreation kiosk had nothing to loan out in terms of footballs, volleyballs or anything else for a dad to play with their kid in the pool. In all, it was a disappointing stay for what I've come to accept at a Westin brand. I won't book again.

    Nice Front Desk .... Sick From Restaurant

    I decided to go on a quick vacation just for a day and thought a trip to Vegas away from the strip would be good. The hotel itself was nice on the outside. The room needed a little love, the bathroom shower was dirty with hair and rust, gross. The view of the lake was beautiful from my room. The worst part was eating at the steakhouse in the restaurant. They served me a pretty rare steak when I asked for medium well and I requested no onions on my fried rice. When the food arrived the server even repeated fried rice, no onions of any kind and my first bite guess what bits of onions. When I looked at the steak it was already cut in half and obviously rare. Waiter was very apologetic. Felt sick that evening, went home feeling miserable. The front desk staff was very nice, the blonde who checked me in was very helpful and nice. I had high hopes for the property, not sure if I would go back.

    It’s okay but needs TLC

    The view is nice and the front desk staff are awesome. The downside is the mold in the shower tile and crevice gaps. There are blood spots on the bottom bathroom wall. A face towel had a few stains. The gift shops are extremely expensive; I spent $30 on a razor and a medium bag of popcorn. No water fountains to fill your water bottle. The pipes busted downstairs and they moved some gym equipment to a confined room, (better than nothing). The fire alarm went off; small evacuation. With the exception of the view, the room seems pretty basic.

    So-so facilities. Bad Management

    Based upon the facilities and age this is a three star at best, I am giving it a 2 because of the terrible management. My wife and I had booked a vacation here to be near Vegas but have more of a relaxed resort experience. I made reservations for a couples spa package and we were very excited for the experience. Our first clue something was wrong was the day before we were to arrive the spa called and said they had to close unexpectedly and therefore were cancelling our appointments. Ok, not great but oh well, we will go somewhere else. We checked in late the first night and were greeted by friendly front desk staff that said nothing about limited facilities. The next clue that something was wrong was the next morning I went exploring the hotel while my wife slept in, I took the elevator down to the level where the spa and exercise facilities were and when the elevator doors opened the door was blocked by yellow caution tape and there was a terrible odor. We went into Vegas for the day and an evening show, when we got back to the hotel, we both wanted to shower and there was no hot water. Ok we were both tired so decided to go to bed and deal with it in the morning. We got into bed and started hearing all sorts of construction equipment and men shouting at each other over the machinery. This literally went on all night long right outside our suite. The next morning I went down to the front desk and was told the boiler had been down for a couple of days due to a sewage backup, so none of the amenities were available. I asked to speak with a manager to be told that one wouldn’t be onsite until 9am. I get it things happen, equipment goes down, but when you are in the hospitality business how do you not communicate with your guests to let them know what is going on? You have a major problem onsite and you don’t even have a manager on duty, but rather you make your (friendly) front desk staff deal with unhappy customers…true lack of leadership. Marriott should strip this location of its Westin brand, it is far from its standard in quality and management. Needless to say my wife and I checked out and moved into the Bellagio for the rest of our stay

    Good but need some TLC

    This is an OK Westin. Not the best. There is a lot of deferred maintenance. Staff is friendly. Locations is decent as me room is clean albeit had a very strong cleaning agent smell. Breakfast was very good. Our waitress was awesome. She loves working there...which says a lot. Lobby bar was fine. Marriott could kick it up a notch and make an investment.
