Beautiful hotel but confusing and disappointing service
We had a mixed experience staying at the Westin Hapuna Beach. Pros: Beautiful hotel in a terrific location. Open space is great. The beach it’s at, Hapuna Beach, is second to none—really long beach with one area that’s separate for Westin guests and another that’s public. White sand and good for kids. Rooms were terrific, no noise at all, with stunning balcony views. The food was outstanding. We had two meals at Le Meridia, with excellent service and fantastic food and drinks. The other restaurant was right by the kids’ pool, so it was a bit louder, but a good choice if you are having a casual lunch or dinner with family. We also enjoyed the sunset at the Piko bar, and had exceptional service there, too. There is also reciprocity with Mauna Kea, which is a stunning 5 star resort nearby that also is on a beautiful bay for swimming. Cons: The front desk really made our stay confusing at best and extremely unpleasant at worst. Two examples: I booked a taxi with one person, only to be told by another that the taxi was not booked. A second booking was made, then I was chastised for another front desk staff for double-booking. When I checked again the next day (day of departure), another staff member told me that nothing was booked, despite my showing an email from a staff member that it was confirmed. It wasn’t clear until the last minute that any taxi was coming. Thankfully, it did; however, I was charged double the fee that was initially quoted by the front desk. Also, I inquired about an extra fee upon checkout that no one had told us about earlier. This was apparently a fee to support conservation through a foundation. I asked if I could directly donate to the foundation instead of having a room charge, which is something I’ve done at other resorts. Instead of offering me this information, the staff member told me that I should really develop a conscience and take a deep look into Hawaiian history. He scolded me like a child in front of other guests, even telling me that he thought I just cared about tax rebates for myself, and made the situation very awkward for everyone there. Ultimately, he removed the fee, but did not address my question about how to donate directly to the foundation. This entire experience was quite a shock to encounter, especially as a loyal Marriott Gold Elite member who is very concerned about conservation. In conclusion, as great as the hotel is as a place to stay, I don’t think my husband and I will be back. There are other places, including other Marriott properties, where we would not face confusion at best and outright disrespect at worst.

Blink photography
You must do Blink photographer at your stay. They are amazing! Kalehua was awesome. They were very professional, she took her time, and knew the perfect spots to go to. We felt comfortable and enjoyed the photography experience.

A very large, attractive, and comfortable hotel on the beach
A very large hotel on the beach on the north west side of the island. About a 30 min drive from Kona airport. Large sandy beach with snorkelling to the right side. The grounds were very attractive. The buffet breakfast was very good. The bedroom was large and comfortable.

Relaxing location and fabulous views!
My husband and I enjoyed the location of this resort for 6 days. We liked the fact that we were not in the crowds in the Kailua Kona area and yet were still reasonably close to multiple restaurant options in the vicinity of Waikoloa. The ocean and pool views from our lanai were beautiful. We are not buffet-breakfast people so we appreciated that we could opt for a continental breakfast or simply get a couple of things at the "grab and go" spot. The hotel atmosphere was serene and relaxing.

Heaven.
What a wonderful hotel and spectacular location. I just had the privilege of enjoying a 6 night stay at this magnificent property. I will miss waking up every morning and heading to the coffee bar for my latte and croissant then heading out to claim my front row beach chair on the most picture perfect powdery sand beach. The first day I hiked the path to the Mauna Kea Hotel smiling all the way at the beauty around me. We enjoyed a great dinner at Manta at the Mauna Kea but unfortunately the Manta’s were not out that night due to the rough surf. Back at the Westin Hapuna I loved seeing the Koi ponds on my way to the beach. The pools looked nice but I’m all about the ocean. It can be a rough surf and one must heed the warnings- but it’s a beautiful beach and the water was amazing when it was calmer. Hapuna beach is just like a perfect postcard. I especially enjoyed going on a magical complementary paddle in their outrigger canoe. Special thanks to Tyler, Erin, Sean and Taylor at beach services for helping make my visit extra special. Also thank you to Daniel Morales for fulfilling my wish of a specific view and for the special gifts. I look forward to returning in the future. Hopefully sooner than later. There are a lot of steps at this resort so something to keep in mind if you have any mobility issues. Other than that it was heaven. Oh and I loved the complementary reusable water bottles. I just figured out that they can be used for diffusing tea. (It took me a minute to figure out what the filter was for). I took them home with me and am drinking tea from one as I write this review.
