Mar 29, 2026Top Luxury Resort on the Big Island
The Westin Hapuna is one of the top hotels on the Big Island. It has it all: Great building, landscape, rooms. Fantastic staff, amazing facilities, the most sunniest of weather and one of the best beaches in the world. It has a wonderful golf course and convenient shuttle system between the Mauna Kea Resort, its sister facility just a mile away. If you can spring for the 8th or 9th floor for the full ocean view,. It is my top luxury resort in Hawaii.

The hands down winning feature of this resort is its location on Hapuna beach. The resort itself is beautiful and well kept, although slightly dated. We were greeted with friendly and professional staff and that continued over our stay. Overall our rooms were comfortable and immaculate and we enjoyed our private lanai with couches and a full table, which was great for dinners and lunch that we brought in from Foodland. The pools are big, kept a comfortable temperature, and have stunning views of the beach below. There are also ample loungers for guests and a kids pool and adult pool. Some things to note would be that the restaurants at this resort are not as high of quality of some of the neighboring resorts but with the same price tag. Additionally, there is no restaurant or bar service at the beach. The location is really the selling point for us - other resorts might have more amenities, better aesthetics, and higher end restaurants but they are not on such an amazing beach. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will be back for morning beach walks and sunsets.

Book this, you will not regret it.
Had a conference and it was the best place to have it. The location is luxurious, the ocean view rooms are gorgeous and the bonus is the Japanese toilets!!! There is not a lot available around the hotel to eat as the property is quite private but the food at the hotel was great. We chose to do a la carte for breakfast which was more then enough rather then the buffet (though it looked quite good). The snorkelling off the beach was fun and we saw turtles. The beach guys were super attentive. This hotel should be rated a 5.5 star. Hoping they book the conference again here next year.

Family vacation to The Big Island
The Westin Hapuna Beach was just about perfection. We got upgraded to a suite and it was perfect for our family. Beach views on the 8th floor (lobby level). The beach is absolutely amazing, clear, calm most days and perfect temperature. Meridia was sooo good and the sunset views were special. Breakfast every morning was great but after 5 days we changed things up a bit. Breakfast was a little chaotic at times but only because they were consistently busy. Valet was fast and efficient and the shuttle was easy to take to their sister property. 5 stars, we will be back.

Paradise 🌴
I've never been so sad to have to pack up and leave. This place is heaven on earth! The photos don't do Hapuna Beach justice. It's probably the most beautiful beach I've ever seen, with sweeping views from the lobby and many other areas. We had a partial Oceanview so I set my expectations accordingly, but the view from our spacious balcony was perfect. We saw many humpbacks, sea turtles, and beautiful sunsets. There is a trail that cuts through the beach. A scenic 20 min hike in one direction brings you to Mauna Kea beach at the sister resort - another absolutely breathtaking beach with a live reef and awesome snorkeling. In the other direction, you'll come upon Beach 69 which is also stunning with lots of natural shade, and under the water is just like being inside an aquarium. The room was great, no complaints at all there, and the resort fee includes a few fun extras like a traditional lei greeting and free water bottles. We dined at the beach bar and the little sushi bar near the lobby, and both were excellent. The staff were all so lovely! On our first night, the waitress even gave us a little printout of all her local recommendations. Thanks for an amazing birthday trip!
