okay for a business trip
here for a conference at the LA convention center located about 2km away. No concerns with the service, room quiet enough to sleep and try to recover from jet lag. Rooms clean but agree with the comments from others that they are a little dated. If you are reasonably fit and enjoy walking most things are walkable, including groceries (closest is grocery outlet), grand central market, FIGat7th. Staff helpful.

Stay in an icon.
The building is iconic and was really fun to wander and explore the public areas. Really spectacular! My room was well appointed with beautiful views of the skyline. Bed, of course, was very comfortable. Love the signature Westin white tea amenities. Room was starting to show its age, a little beat up. Service in food outlets could be improved. Ended up getting a delicious pizza from the Italian restaurant across the street because room service didn't answer the phone, couldn't order in the app and waited forever in the restaurant and no one waited on me. But, the pizza was delish and it's all good. Would definitely stay again.

Great staff, cool hotel. Should honor Its A Living show :)
Overall this hotel was pretty great. The staff were all fantastic. We stayed here after realizing it has been used in many films and TV shows. Plus the architecture is amazing. It could easily be a 5 star hotel. A few issues - they can’t change the location but there just is nothing to do or see or eat walking distance from the hotel. Lots of homeless and scary areas, but honestly that is pretty much the whole city unfortunately. The flags out front on Figuero street were all tattered and in disrepair. Such a simple fix would show the property cares about upkeep better. The movie display on the 2nd floor looks old and dated even though it is relatively recent. They have faded posters from shows such as Amazing Race which were filmed there and movies, but none from our favorite show It’s A Living which had 6 seasons based at this hotel with numerous exterior and elevator shots. Was hoping for a plaque representing this show at least at the restaurant on top or the lounge where the show was based but alas nothing. The rooms were nice, WiFi good and staff excellent. It really is a very cool hotel and close to five stars - just need to fix the flags and put up a plaque honoring Its A Living (they have a plaque next to the elevator used in True Lies).

Put irons back in the rooms.
Great hotel in a convenient location. It’s an easy walk to local office buildings. Plenty of restaurants close by. Rooms are spacious. A bit dated but comfortable. My only real complaint is they have removed irons and ironing boards from the rooms. There are steamers instead. Steamers are great, but not for everything. I was counting on an iron to use on a shirt for the following morning. The steamer wouldn’t cut it. I called and was told there are no longer any irons anywhere. I didn’t have enough time to give out to the hotel’s laundry service. I actually had to go out and buy an iron! This is a major inconvenience. If you’re putting steamers in the rooms at least have some irons available for those who need them. Business travelers need irons.

I checked in at hotel and then went to eat at restaurant. Stephanie was amazing! She made experience at restaurant exceptional. Will be back to see Stephanie. She made our experience great. She took very good care of us and truly can not thank her enough.
