    Outdoor music - why?

Last weekend we stopped by for a meal and to walk the property with the intention of staying there on our next visit to the desert. We found it odd that all outdoor spaces have oldies pop music. My understanding it’s 24/7 and can be heard in some rooms. I enjoy quite especially at a 5 star hotel. Please turn it off!

    Not Ritz quality

I really don't have anything to recommend here. I've traveled all over the world at high end hotels, including various Ritz, St Regis and independent properties. The room quality is (at best) the equivalent of a mid-tier Sheraton. The rooms are worn and need complete renovation. I mentioned that at check out and the agent said, "Yeah, we get a lot of that." I suggested that they needed a full renovation. "We're thinking about it," he said. So they know the hotel isn't up to Ritz standards, but they still charge as if it is. The location is basically off a street with a bunch of strip malls. You can't walk to anything interesting. Restaurant was empty. Get yourself a nice room at a hotel in Palm Springs.

    Top rated for a reason

Number one, worldwide, for a reason. This property is perfectly represented. From the professional and personable valet, to the front desk, to the kitchen staff, to the bar staff....the Ritz is perfect. Expect perfection and you will not be disappointed.

    WOW WOW NOT!!!!

Save your $$$ and go elsewhere. Not staffed enough to be able to have breakfast , instead a cold burrito and coffee from the make shift coffee bar was offered! When advised front desk of the issue, they advised to make a reservation for breakfast and have the concierge take care of it! Advised concierges who basically corrected the front desk , that the restaurant does not accept breakfast reservations. Concierge suggested room service, which was awful. If you are expecting a lovely room service breakfast as the Ritz Carlton did in its day, do not hold your breath. Room service breakfast cold and tasteless and room tray still at our door for 8 hours later Trash bins at entrance filled to the brim with garbage! If your room faces the pool, be ready for a lot of loud kids playing. Maybe advise your guests of that if they want quiet time ? All in all, lack of 5 star quality service! Staff is mediocre, barely at a 4 star!

Nice but charmless luxury suite stay in resort in desperate need for renovation and personality

Our 3 night weekend stay in a paid One Bedroom King Suite at the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage was…fine. The suite was comfortable and spacious even if quite bland. The resort overall had lots of nice amenities to offer, even as it lacked any charm or real sense of place. The service was well meaning, even when it was uneven or lacking. The service recovery was nice, even as it didn’t quite make me yearn to return. But the spa is quite impressive. #ranchomirage #palmsprings #palmdesert #ritzcarlton #ritzcarltonranchomirage For the rate paid ($900+ per night with breakfast as per the fall promo package), I did think the suite was a pretty good deal considering how pricey hotels can be these days. We didn’t get any further upgrade since there weren’t any better residential suites or the Ritz-Carlton Suite available, anyway (and those might not even be in the upgrade pool, of course). The suite and resort decor were definitely less impressive than we might have expected — but the air con was as good as one would hope in a location that gets crazy hot in summer. The suite easily maintained 61-63 F as requested (65F). The bland and uninspired decor and design hopefully will be remedied by the upcoming renovation scheduled to start next month for all guest rooms and suites, the depressing lobby, the Club Lounge, and other public spaces. It is expected to take up to a year as they shut down a wing at a time to minimize disruptions. Service was a mixed bag. The hotel did pre-cool the suite, offer a lovely charcuterie plate welcome, had a fan by the bed, and provide extra bottles of water each day as requested in my #prearrivalchecklist. The bell and valet teams were wonderful. The bar made great drinks — but service could be painfully slow at times. The restaurant breakfast service (courtesy of $70 credit per room as per the fall promo package I booked) was fine. But room service breakfast was a disaster that didn’t get it right even after 3 attempts. Calls to reception or concierge for our first day and half went unanswered, forcing us to use the app chat function — which worked pretty well. But it shouldn’t come to that. Housekeeping was rather poor, with lots of missed items, missed turndown services, communication misses, left rags, frequent extra door knocks that became onerous, etc. Overall, the staff was friendly, eager to please, and tried hard even as the execution failed a bit too often. I still left housekeeping a small tip. The front desk manager Yuri tried to make up for the shortcomings, offering us a free round of drinks brought to our suite as well as a $200 credit (on top of the $150 credit I had from the fall promo package booking). He also offered 60K points as an apology for the mishaps. Yuri is a credit to the hotel. The spa, on the other hand, was a highlight. I had an amazing facial, and my husband enjoyed a fantastic massage. (My husband often uses the spa here even when staying elsewhere in the area.) We had nice dinners at Wally’s in Rancho Mirage (maybe a 10 min drive) and Colony Club and Le Vellauris in Palm Springs (about a 25 min drive). The well regarded Ritz steakhouse is still closed, unfortunately. We spent a day at Joshua Tree National Park — an easy 45-50 min drive. My husband and friends also did a day of golf nearby. Overall, we had a solid stay even as we both were a bit underwhelmed and wouldn’t call it quite 5*. But we have faith that the renovation and better staffing will improve things in due course. All that being said, this still probably is the nicest luxury resort in the whole of Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage/Palm Desert — and we’ve seen them all. Hopefully, the renovation will make it more impressive yet and add some sense of place and more personality.
