The Ivens Hotel was home to the first luxury warehouse in the city in the XIX century as well as of the first Portuguese public. The iconic building is in every way representative of the XIX century a period which has marked the spirit and culture of Lisbon. The hotel has 87 unique and comfortable rooms of which ten are spacious suites including two signature top floor suites. The entrance was mapped to resemble the journey of Ivens and Capelo, two of greatest Portuguese explorers to unveil Africa back on the XIX century. The hotel holds three cinematic dining areas designed by Lazaro Rosa Violan who offer a journey through Italian cuisine, al fresco dining and a Barra area.

    Brilliant hotel for exploring Lisbon

The Ivens is a brilliant boutique hotel in a fantastic neighbourhood of Lisbon. When you enter the hotel, you are greeted by the kindest gentlemen who assist you with luggage and errands. The rooms are compact but convenient and the comfort of the bed and the power of the shower shine - at the end of the day, these are the most important elements of a hotel stay. The Acqua di Parma amenities are such a good fit! The gym was a positive surprise. The photos online do not do it justice. All the modern TechnoGym equipment is exactly what you need for a city hotel and stay. Overall, the hotel was a perfect base for us to use to explore the city. Surrounded by Michelin star restaurants and fantastic breakfast spots. We couldn’t recommend the hotel more. A specific mention for Andrè, the door porter, who did not only remember us, but also greeted us by name and checked how our other destination was when we returned a week later. The sign of a quality hotel when the team is able to recognise and great it’s guests with such personality. It makes you feel like coming home. Well done to the Ivens team for creating a brilliant city boutique hotel. We will be back!

    Well located, ideal for tourist

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well located and the staff was friendly. Breakfast service in the restaurant was sometimes spotty. Dinners were good and the bar was beautiful. Be warned: there was very little storage in the room. It’s a great place for tourists!

    Beautiful Hotel Centrally Located

The Ivens Hotel in Lisbon offers a blend of luxury and comfort in the heart of the city. Guests can enjoy beautifully designed rooms, exceptional service, and a prime location close to major attractions. The Gastrobar (try the aged Negroni) and Rocco's Restaurant are both dining experiences. The service and top-notch amenities make the Ivens Hotel a perfect choice for a memorable stay in Lisbon.

    Awesome Pick!

After countless hours of researching 5 star Lisbon hotels, I was so glad that I booked The Ivens Hotel. One, the Front Desk provided 5 star service throughout my stay. It was also one of the few Marriott hotels that truly honored the Platinum Elite benefits. The Front Desk patiently explained each benefit. One of the few times where my room was upgraded. The. Front Desk also arranged for someone to purchase non-allergic soap...WOW! Second, the location is absolutely PERFECT! It was located on a quiet street but super close to the main tourist streets. Last, room services was absolutely one of the quickest...the fries actually remained hot. I will definitely be returning to the Ivens Hotel!

Great location, great design, great use of Marriott points

Just got back from 2 nights at the Ivens in Lisbon and had a really enjoyable stay. We were able to use one free 85k Marriott cert and then points for the second night, so loved that. I had read lots of positive reviews about the Ivens, and I'm glad to say my stay was also very positive and I would not hesitate to return (esp if I had the points). A few pros/cons to callout: Pros: 1) Great location--easy walking to lots of good shopping/food 2) Loved the design/aesthetic of the property--felt very cohesive and fun, sort of modern jungle vibes? Even the hotel staff matches in "safari-chic" uniforms--sounds weird but it's done in a very classy way. The interior design is gorgeous and the hotel smells great (they sell the candle and I bought it to bring home). Don't skip a visit to the basement-level bathroom--it's AMAZING! Such a cool/fun vibe/design. 3) Great breakfast buffet--a bit small compared to other breakfast buffets I've experienced, but enough options for sure and high-quality. Loved that it was in the Rocco restaurant dining area which is also lovely. 4) Dinner at Rocco was amazing--I didn't love that I was eating at "the hotel restaurant" instead of somewhere else in Lisbon, but the menu looked great and you can't beat the convenience. Turns out I have no regrets--it was a GREAT meal and I would recommend it to other friends/family visiting Portugal even if they aren't staying at the hotel. The mushroom pasta in the cheese wheel was a highlight. 5) Great housekeeping service and delicious smelling bath products. Turndown service included cute little lavender satchels. 6) Loved all the cute "explorerer" themed materials provided to guests. A tote bag was provided in the room for guests to take. Each night at turndown service a new little informational sheet was provided giving guests recommendations of things to visit around Lisbon--really a nice touch, esp for those who maybe didn't do a ton of research or come with a set itinerary yet. 7) We were celebrating our anniversary and, despite also having platinum status, did not receive a room upgrade unfortunately. However, they did provide a welcome dessert (chocolate mousse cake)--it wasn't in the room when we first arrived, but it was there later when we came back after a tour. It was delicious and much appreciated. 8) We arrived in Lisbon in the morning and despite our early arrival, they allowed us to check in and had a room ready for us which was really great and helpful because we had activities/tours planned and not a lot of buffer time. 9) Besides one misunderstanding/mishap regarding an excursion (see cons below), the concierge was very helpful leading up to the trip in answering questions and providing helpful info. Answered emails quickly and politely. Cons: 1) Was a bit mislead by concierge when it came to planning a half day excursion to Sintra to visit Pena Palace. In our email correspondance ahead of time, they made it sound like we'd have enough time to visit another castle too, so I prepurchased tickets for both spots (as was recommended for lower rates and better availability etc). However, once we got in the car with the driver and told him we had tickets to both, it seemed clear that there was no way we'd be able to do both without going over our allotted 4 hours. The driver was nice and seemed accomodating and willing to go overtime, but I didn't know how much more that would end up costing and I still wanted to get back to Lisbon and have more time to explore the city. So we ended up just going to Pena. Not a huge deal, still thankful to have gone at all, but was a bit annoyed to have already prepurchased those tickets bc the concierge made it sound doable (I obviously trusted their timing judgement as I didn't know the area). 2) No view-room just overlooked the restaurant roof/glass top. 3) Smallish rooms. I think without lots of luggage or without a second person it wouldn't have been noticeable, but with large duffels (2 week trip around Europe) and 2 people, it was definitely tight. Overall, would absolutely return to the Ivens, especially if I had points to use up. Very hard to find flaws!
