Nice and well located Hotel.
This hotel is located close to public transportation, restaurants, shopping malls and also where one could join tour buses at Union Square. The accommodation is both clean and comfortable. The staff are also very friendly. I will certainly stay there again whenever I am in San Francisco.

Great location but should have been advised pool not open
My wife and stayed one night earlier this month - hotel and room tired but location very good . However had we known pool not open , we would have booked elsewhere . Nearby recommendation ( Cafe Mason ) excellent

Lovely staff, great location
The hotel is in a great location, the pool was closed when we visited but that wasn’t an issue in April! The rooms are a little tired and dated (we were in a historic double/double) but the staff are lovely, and they even left me a birthday gift! Would recommend this place for a city break in SF.

Great hotel, great location!
Great hotel ideally located just off Union Square. Reception staff and concierge very welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay. We had booked a Queen room for our week long stay but we’re upgraded to a double suite on the 5th floor on check in which was lovely. Ignore the negative reviews. The hotel is full of old charm & we recognised that. The rooms are nicely decorated, well kept and extremely clean and have everything you will need. A TV, safe, kettle/tea & coffee making facilities, small fridge, hairdryer and iron/ironing board. Our bed was made and towels changed in the room daily. We couldn’t fault our stay. We didn’t spend a great deal of time in our room other than in the late evening as we were out sightseeing all day most days, however, the room was great and the bed super comfortable. The ideal location for sightseeing, local transportation inc the tram links, shops, restaurants and local amenities.

Horrific experience!
We had a terrible experience at this hotel. We had a 3am ear splitting fire alarm that meant we had to go outside in the cold for 30 minutes before the fire dept cleared it as a false alarm. After walking back up 6 flights of stairs (queue for elevator was too long), the alarm started again. After waiting a minute to see if it would stop, we walked back down, only for it to stop again and so we walked back up. It took me over an hour to fall back asleep, which meant I was very tired for our $200 all day tour that we had to get up at 6:30 for! Upon checking out, the hotel staff member said their wiring hasn't been updated since the 70s and the owner refuses to pay to upgrade it. WOW. Our room was in the "historic building" - historic is code for: - Your air conditioner and heater won't work - Your shampoo bottle will be empty. You won't notice this until you're in the shower and it's too late to call them - Your room will be incredibly noisy, with loud noises starting and stopping at random intervals I would NOT recommend this hotel and wish we had stayed elsewhere.
