First class accommodation and guest services.
Perfectly located within the city and a well presented and luxurious residence. Staff were incredibly professional and delivered exceptional customer service. We really appreciated the local knowledge and advice for myself and my overseas delegation for both sightseeing at the weekend and restaurant recommendations. Will definitely be planning a return visit in the Autumn.

Fabulous stay at the Caledonian!
The Caledonian is very well located for many of the historical attractions in Edinburgh. A reasonable walk from the train station (20 mins) with great views along the way of the park, historical statues and monuments and the Castle. The atmosphere in the hotel was welcoming from the doorman on arrival, to the reception and concierge staff, the bar and restaurant staff. Always with a smile. Our room was fabulous and overlooked the front of the hotel and the main Princes Street. Though the street was always busy, the noise level was low and we were not disturbed by any street noise. The bed and pillows were very comfy. There was a coffee machine and tea making facilities. The bathroom was well equipped with toiletries, fluffy towels and robes. Lots of wardrobe and cupboard space with ample coat hangers, and a safe. Cleanliness across the whole hotel was faultless. My only disappointment, and why I have given 4 out of 5, was with the booking process. The first member of the reservation team was very hard to communicate with and we had difficulty understanding each other and my requirements. I found myself having to change the booking the following day to meet my requirements. Also it was not made clear to me that the booking did not include breakfast. Unfortunately we found this out when we arrived for breakfast the first morning. And though it was a nice breakfast, we did not feel £35 pp was value for money. On top of this, a service charge is added. And also on drinks and restaurant meals which makes eating and drinking in the hotel expensive. On two occasions we took our evening meals in the restaurant and on both occasions my starter was lukewarm. It had obviously been standing a while before bringing out. The same happened with our coffees. They could do better here. Apart from these few issues, we enjoyed our stay at the Caledonian very much and would stay again.

Top notch all around
The backstory: We have stayed at a few high-end hotels in our travels to splurge now and then, and frankly, have been disappointed every time. The service was indifferent or dismissive, or the room was missing something, or the food was pretentious and overpriced—and we left disappointed feeling we’d wasted our money. Well—EVERYTHING was stellar at the Caledonian. Everything. The rooms were spotless, with heated towel bars, excellent linens and toiletries and robes and slippers, and all the essentials for making tea or coffee. The beds were very comfortable, and for a large hotel, we were amazed at how quiet it was. The service was outstanding; the front desk was pleasant and efficient, and the concierge made our lives easy by arranging airport transportation for our group. The housekeeping was detail-oriented and really spoiled us. The pool and spa are beautiful and so are all of the public areas. The grand staircase is lovely. Some of the rooms even have a view of the castle and it is beautiful when illuminated at night. The dinner we had in the Court was extraordinary. Everything was carefully and creatively prepared and every single dish we ordered was delicious. Even my humble bangers and mash was made with care and creativity. And the sticky toffee souffle for dessert—yum and yum! The Caledonian is pricey and worth every penny. Other hotels should send their staff to train here.
