Lovely hotel near convention center.
Great location near the water with access to convention center, nightlight, and restaurants. The location will leave you with many options from jet ski rentals, to convention center events, to late night bars. The gym onsite is also amazing. There are plenty of restaurants at the hotel which also provide flexibility to those with dietary restrictions or concerns. The rooms are spacious and have great view of the water if you can get a room on that side.

Serious security issues and other concerns
It started off nicely with the hotel generously granting an early arrival but went downhill fast from there. The rooms overlooking the pool are noisy all day and night into the wee hours of the morning. LOUD music that cannot be silenced with earplugs. The hotel serves as a spot for large weddings and those guests take priority. The tavern with the golf simulators - a part of why we booked - was closed for a private event. The elevators were so packed that you'd have to wait while several passed by before you could squeeze in. Some of the pool chairs and umbrellas are broken and look worse than what you'd find at a motel. The smoke detector in our room went off for an hour and staff was hard to find come by to get it fixed. They were not apologetic. One of two Computers os broken at the business center and the other had issues logging onto some sites. The printer 🖨️ was out of paper. There was no garbage can in the business center to throw away the wrapper for the ream of paper that I found and loaded into the printer. As a staff member was walking by - I asked him to take the wrapper (I was trying to be helpful but he nastily me to "go find a waste can yourself around the corner" and loudly called me rude in the presence of other guests for asking him to take away (THEIR) garbage since they have no can in their office. (He said "I am the head of security! And I am with a client! And I won't be treated like this!" If I could give this hotel a ZERO rating due to this employee alone (Michael T), I would. The location is great but there are lots of better choices. I will never stay here again and am losing faith in Marriott if this is what they think is acceptable behavior from their head of security. I was told that he was stressed because there had been "numerous security issues" at the hotel. I am not surprised. One woman in the elevator was complaining that when she went to her room, other people were in it! The staff apologized and said that someone must have "passed a key." I have no idea what that means, but she was more upset than me - for good reason. She said they upgraded her to make up for it but that she was still shocked at what had transpired. I don't think that she will be returning, either.

No parking.
Made reservation direct with hotel for a Saturday night stay. The hotel does not disclose there is NO off site parking reserved for guests only valet check in which is $38 day. I arrived only to find a 50 minute wait for valet check in due to a hockey game 2 blocks away therefore the hockey fans have parking priority before guests, I did not wait to check in and when attempted to cancel reservation I was told there is a $600 fee. This location is horrible do not stay here.

Relaxing Weekend Stay
Spent 2 nights at the Water Street hotel using Free Night Certs from my credit cards. Great use of certs since it was over $350 per night. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Prior to arriving I was able to confirm an upgrade to a King balcony room with River View. Plus, 4pm checkout. The purpose of the trip was to solely relax and hang out at the pool during the day, which is exactly what we did. Plenty of chairs on the pool deck and a nice breeze with the pool being on the 3rd floor. However, only a few chairs along the back wall have umbrellas, not sure if they put them away for the winter or they just don’t have them. Bar and Grill available with hamburgers and hot dogs or you can order from room service and have it delivered. Room was recently refreshed and comfortable. AC kept the room cool at night, bathroom had lots of room and counter space. Got a good night’s sleep and woke up refreshed. Best part the lounge was open and back to pre-covid days. Opens Sunday evening through Friday breakfast. Breakfast buffet, hors d’oeuvres in the evening with dessert. Large outside patio connect to the lounge on the 24th floor. Only down side, when the lounge is closed you only get a $20 credit for the breakfast buffet on Saturday, only option. The credit does not cover the buffet cost. It would be nice to either comp the buffet for platinum and above or offer more options for breakfast to include a continental breakfast. Lots of restaurants on site, but we opted to walk down to Sparkman’s Warf. Felt very safe walking around the hotel in the evening. If you don’t want to walk you can hop on the free street car, stop is just across the street from the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend.

Tampa Water Street
The view, pool, and roof top bar were fabulous. The only flaw were the beds which gave us all sore backs by morning each day. The location and staff were great, would recommend if in Tampa. The tavern on sight is a great place for a quick cocktail.
