The hotel is nice, the staff is friendly but we are not their target market
We went to Sunscape last week for a family vacation, with some other friends. Let me say the hotel is quite nice, with great facilities and well maintained. The majority of the staff is very friendly and helpful. I was especially surprised with the lifeguards, a little kid was drowning in the pool one day and the guy jumped in 2 seconds after to rescue him. They keep people safe in the pool and in the ocean. The problem we had is that we are not the target market this hotel aims for. We went in the low season and the hotel was crowded with hundreds of people with low levels of education and no civility whatsoever. To give some examples, people change diapers on the floor and leave them there; we found poop in the children's pool area one day; rude and uneducated people frequently take away your lounge chairs in the pool when you are not around; on one occasion, a tattooed person with a very unpleasant aspect, moved his lounge chair right next to our family without even asking. I asked the security people for help, but they did absolutely nothing about it. People get drunk and sometimes aggressive in the pool with the all-inclusive deal. That makes other aspects of the hotel decrease in quality. For example, the buffets are crowded and unsanitary, people grab the food and return what they don't eat, or sometimes grab food with their own bare hands. The hotel is too nice for this kind of people, who pretty much ruined our vacation. We are not coming back.

Nice hotel, rough open sea condition limits going into the water freely
It was our first time in Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo and indeed it was a pleasant surprise, the hotel is not new but it is well maintained, we had a suite with 2 nice balconies. The staff is very helpful and friendly, the food was quite good and they had plenty of daily activities and shows every night. The visitors were mainly families with small children and they have a nice adults only section! We would gladly go back specially after a couple of months that there will be a direct flight on VIVA from MTY where we live starting in July. Nowadays you practically lose a day flying thru Mexico city. There were plenty of people in the hotel and on the beach starting in Friday. One situation I consider a drawback and didn’t like is that the sea is very agitated and the tide is very strong tries to get you back into the sea, the lifeguards at the hotel don’t let you go far into the water where the waves break, the put up a BLACK FLAG which means don’t go into the water, I had never seen that before. I understand there are other beaches where the waves aren’t as strong, we were at beach EL PALMAR, I was told there are good hotels in other areas like LA ROPA and LAS GATAS In summary the hotel is nice if you enjoy the pool which by the way has warm water and being at the beach and just barely going into the sea, if you enjoy going into the sea freely I would look for other option in accomidations

Sunscape fun
The hotel is a great place to find a family friendly place, not very quiet since is for family driven, the people on the hotel make a great work trying to give you a great experience. The seashore is very clean and well maintained, the waves are high and hard, but you can walk to the south to have less hard waves. The food is great, there are 3 restaurants available, not all of them are open the whole day but you have different tastes thru the day. Overall experience is a great place to find rest and enjoying food and sun.

So so … food drinks not so great! Location and rooms were good!
We went for a wedding. They did perfect on a wedding and accompanying all the bride and grooms wishes. There rooms are clean and comfortable the service could use some help. And the drinks were not so good. I went to the local store and brought my own Malibu to make my drinks, so if your going for fancy drinks and food this isn’t the spot! This is more local family’s not out of town people! I’m from TEXAS

Small Beachtown
The Sunscape was a pleasant surprise with the location and the size of the town. The resort was perfect for celebrating my daughters birthday and Mothers Day. The spa was clean and got excellent massages by Leticia. Our room had a perfect ocean view, the food was delicious and plentiful, entertainment at the dinner shows were fun, the staff were always helpful and attentive. Excellent location for shopping with just a walk across the street for vendors, restaurants and bars. I recommend the trip to Isla Ixtapa a secluded beach to have lunch and enjoy the beauty of the coral beach.
