Not the standard it should be
Don't ask for assistance from front desk manager who was on evening of 18/08/23. I paid for a load of washing to be washed and dried in the guest laundry. The washing machine (front loader) stank. I set the dry on hi temp to kill whatever might have migrated to my clothes. After 45 minutes the clothes were still completely wet. The drier was clearly broken. I approached the desk - it was now about 8.30 pm and I was tired. He offered no assistance. Finally gave me another $2.50 and told me try another drier. I did so and told my husband what had happened. Another 45 minutes of standing around waiting for the drier and the result was barely improved. My husband approached the so called manager. Things became heated. We wanted to cancel our second night, get our money back and leave. He offered no assistance at all. By the way we are Marriott Bonvoy members - means nothing. In fact he was dismissive and rude and clearly incompetent to come up with any kind of resolution. Luckily two young hotel workers heard the story and offered to dry the clothes in the hotel commercial drier AND bring those clothes to our room. They are far superior in simple people management and empathy. The room...well for sheer stupidity of design it would be hard to beat this hotel. The tv on the wall faces side on to the desk or one of the beds but the sofa is out there on its own facing the kitchen area. The lighting is very poor. Very very poor. One small window mostly obscured by a heavy curtain over the air con. And we could not raise the blind as the installers have left the cordage in a bundle far out of reach. The refrigerator barely cools. There is so much wasted space in this room and why were we booked into a disabled room when we are both fully fit and functional? Also, when booking you are not told about the parking charge. That is sprung upon you when you actually hand over your card. Never ever would I stay there again. Springhill suites were our favourites but two bad experiences in recent times have us reconsidering future stays with Marriott. This hotel 'manager' has dropped the standards of Marriott for us. On the other hand the other desk person I dealt with on check in - Pujsan - was absolutely first class in his skills, professionalism and welcoming manner.

Spacious room , good breakfast , far from city and bit expensive
This is the best option if you are on an official visit and planning to meet clients near the Foster City area. The hotel is 15mins drive from the airport (taxi charged me 55USD , I thought it was too high). Marriot welcome gift pack was a surprise and I liked it. Overall good 3 nights stay, the rooms are good and warm .

Not clean at all
Found previous guest’s hair on the shower floor and walls, also at the nightstand. Called concierge, who didn’t even say “sorry”. Gross . They can at least clean places like shower properly. And for this price?

Nice room but weak amenities; daily parking fee is ridiculous for this location
Not. A. Fan. I stayed at this local SpringHill Suites for one night between out-of-town trips, while the rest of my family was quarantining at home recently due to covid. Despite paying in the mid-200s for a room, when I arrived they actually charged me extra for parking (It was late evening, and the parking lot was less than 1/4 full). I absolutely hate nickel-and-diming like this. One point loss for that. Another point off for their weak breakfast: Powdered eggs and bacon but no cooked oatmeal. Only type of extra-sweet yogurt, which gave me an unwanted sugar buzz. The orange juice machine was dispensing water only. Thankfully there was decent coffee. Yet another point off for their sad gym; and I really wanted to work out. They had plenty of treadmills (not my thing), but the weight equipment seemed to be missing key components; and there was only one floor mat. I couldn't even do basic exercises like lat pull or a bench press. Eventually I did a little core work (on the single floor mat) before running out of options. Having arrived after midnight, I had also requested late checkout, which they declined at first. When I became more insistent, they finally agreed to an extra 30 minutes. Gee thanks. Other than that, the hotel was clean and on the newer side. My king bed room was fairly spacious with a good layout. It's too bad they couldn't follow through with the other basics for a hotel in this price range. I will not be back.

Not pet friendly!!
So I want to start by saying I’m a Titanium Elite member and have stayed in countless Marriotts all over the country. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Belmont Redwood Shores was the absolute worst. They claim to be “pet friendly” but that’s only towards dogs not cats. I called the Elite reservation line to book a 4 night stay, 1 night with points. The hotel is “pet friendly” and I made sure to tell the representative that I had a cat. Everything is booked and I prepaid for the nights stay. After I got off the phone I called the hotel directly and spoke with someone (I believe her name was Julia) to make sure that I had a “pet friendly” room reserved for my cat, no problem. Then I drive from Washington state to California. I start checking in and for some reason they’re having problems with my reservation since one night is with points and the other three were prepaid. Then they are getting ready to give me the pet form to fill out and I mention my cat. They say we take dogs only! I tell them this has all be confirmed with the Marriott Elite reservation line and I had called the hotel myself. They continue to say no cats, my cat is a 4lb Persian that has a lion haircut (mostly shaved). Then the manager Ben Lawson is called and he says “no cats in my hotel because they’re more allergenic then dogs.” I have never heard of such a thing. A pet friendly hotel is a pet friendly hotel. You can bring cats on planes so I’m not sure what this was all about but I felt very discriminated against and it was embarrassing that I was being turned away. I was so tired after my long drive and now I’m being forced to find a different hotel. After staying in over a thousand nights in Marriott hotels the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Belmont Redwood Shores really disappointed.
