Not what it was was 10 years ago...
Please read this full review to the end to understand I'm not nitpicking. This is legitimate disappointment. My wife and I stayed here in 2015 and gave it 5 stars. Giving it 1 star today feels generous, especially when compared to our previous stay. At check-in, the receptionist was pleasant until she learned we were celebrating our 10-year anniversary, at which point the interaction immediately turned into a push to upsell us to a more expensive room with a “better view” and more space. We don’t spend much time in our room on vacation, so the pitch felt unnecessary and tone-deaf. We declined. Things went downhill quickly. The moment we stepped off the elevator on our floor, we noticed the hallways are not air-conditioned and were uncomfortably hot. Waiting for elevators in that heat while watching five or six full elevators pass by was infuriating. Our room (1428) had a noticeable mildew smell every time the jet-engine-loud AC kicked on. The door seals are terrible; opening the balcony door with even a slight breeze creates an unbearably loud whistling from rushing air. This is just basic maintenance. The property has also clearly shifted priorities. The hammocks along the water, one of the nicest touches, are gone, replaced with as many rental cabanas as possible, obstructing the view unless you pay more. The pool is uncomfortably cold. Then there’s the cost creep: a $52 resort fee (which is actually $61.34 with tax) plus $65 valet parking. That’s $126.34 PER DAY on top of what you already paid just to stay here. For what? Hot hallways, long elevator waits, and tired facilities? What made this experience sting even more was that we came here after staying at the Andaz in Maui, where the staff upgraded our room, gave us flowers, wine, and food and drink vouchers for our anniversary, and treated us with genuine warmth. The contrast could not have been more stark. Here, the staff felt tired, irritated, and largely absent. We traveled with our two young boys, and by day two they were asking if we could fly back to the other hotel. That says everything. This stay felt like a shell of what it once was.. uninspired, transactional, and stripped of the hospitality that used to make it special. It was a disappointing way to end our Hawaii trip and our 10-year anniversary. I included a photo of the one redeeming quality: you can still get a nice view without buying into an upsell. We are certain we will stay elsewhere the next time we visit Oahu. I genuinely asked myself: Was there anything that genuinely met expectations for a resort at this price point? Core comfort failed (heat, mildew smell, noise, elevators) Value failed (resort fee + valet = borderline insulting) Service failed (upsell-first anniversary interaction, disengaged staff) Experience failed (kids wanted to leave, end of a milestone trip ruined) I am not angry just severely disappointed. You can be better. I have seen it.

Excellent experience! Thank you Roger!
I travelled with my wife for our ten year celebrations! We paid extra bucks for oceanfront room and it was worth it! Our stay was made more memorable by the housekeeper Roger. He was extremely professional, and very attentive to detail. The room was always well-organized, and refreshed on time. He also made sure we had everything we needed and greeted us with a warm smile every day, decorated the room with flowers and towels, which made our stay even more pleasant. His dedication and care truly stood out, and it made a noticeable difference in the overall quality of our stay. We really appreciate his hard work and would like to thank him for the excellent service.

Disappointing experience
Very disappointing stay. We were given a room on the 5th floor directly above the conference area, which has a large outdoor deck used heavily as a smoking area. From morning until night, our room was filled with a thick blanket of smoke, along with constant coughing and hacking from below. This was not mentioned at check-in. Had we known, we would never have accepted this room. We didn’t realize how severe the smoking situation was until late in the evening and raised the issue with the manager the following morning. By then, we had already unpacked and settled in. While another room was offered, moving at that point for a short two-night stay felt like more hassle than it was worth. The manager also made no effort to offer any form of compensation. It wasn’t about the money, a simple gesture would have shown care and accountability. Additionally, beach chairs and an umbrella cost $100 per day. Pool seating is free, but charging extra to sit on the beach (the main reason people come) felt unreasonable. When I mentioned this to staff while getting towels, they became defensive and said it was “only $100,” which felt dismissive and showed a lack of respect for the value of money and the effort it takes to earn it. Overall, a very disappointing experience and not worth the extra cost. There are many better options available.

Hussle and bustle in Hawaii ???
What can you say - the hotel can hold 10,000 people - I call it Grand Central Station. We visited this hotel at least 4 times. Its beautiful. The infinity pool is beautiful. I am not sure if they will see this or its just one of 1000 daily surveys. Basically a very good hotel and a great place to be for a few days. After a few days go somewhere quiet.
