Built around legendary Pu‘u Keka‘a (Black Rock) on 23 oceanfront acres and the world’s favorite beach, Sheraton Maui Resort is where exceptional location finds deep intention. While our nightly lele kawa (cliff diving) ritual is most famous, every aspect of our spacious retreat welcomes guests to dive into the timeless, rejuvenating essence of Ka?anapali. From exhilarating ocean adventures to soothing treatments at The Spa at Black Rock. From deeply rooted cultural journeys to bright and refreshing cocktails served poolside. And around every corner you’ll discover spectacular views and wide open spaces for soulful reflection and a deeper connection to nature. With 83 percent of rooms offering pristine views of the ocean and neighboring islands, Molokai and Lanai, there may be no land-based vantage point better for watching whales and the sun setting into the Pacific. Experience Maui more deeply, where the Ka?anapali resort lifestyle was invented - and perfected.

Magical Christmas on Maui
We were upgraded to an oceanfront room in the Ohana building and it was spectacular and very peaceful. We spotted several whales each afternoon. Marilyn in housekeeping went out of her way to arrange for a very nice Birthday basket for my wife, and Kaulana - breakfast hostess - greeted us by name even though we had not seen her since the pandemic began; she is always extraordinarily and genuinely hospitable and kind. The pool was very pleasant and not crowded, and being by Black Rock was a treat. We absolutely loved and can't wait to return.
Titanium Member Review- 7 night stay in January!
My husband and I just got back from a wonderful 7 day trip to Maui. This was our first time on Maui and at the Sheraton Maui Resort. We have previously spent time on the Big Island at the Westin Hapuna Beach & Mauna Kea Beach Resort. The Good: Benefits: I originally booked a 7 night stay for 417K points in a resort view room. Luckily, we were upgraded to a "Moana Oceanfront King" room in building 6, top floor. I was a bit worried we wouldn't get that amazing secluded feeling like we did @ Mauna Kea & Hapuna, but the room location gave us that feeling. Our room was ocean facing with nothing but sea and Molokai in the distance. Since we stayed during whale season, we saw them from our balcony and heard them throughout the night (we slept with the sliding glass door open). The room location was perfect! Other reviewers complain about the distance, but it's not too far. Maybe a 5-8 minute walk from the middle Moana building to the beach. I much preferred this location than the other oceanfront rooms near busy walkways, beach and pool. Free self parking near the Moana building. Super convenient- I much preferred having easy access to our car. $15 breakfast buffet upgrade. The buffet was good and the staff in the buffet area are attentive- especially the waffle guy! haha. I didn't catch his name, but he was super cheery and helpful! Hospitality: The Staff were very nice! I always get a sense of "Aloha" from the staff at the various Hawaiian hotels i've visted. At this property, a few people truly stood out for their great hospitality and warm smiles- Imedla in housekeeping is AMAZING! Our room was always spotless. Kaulana at Coral Reef Breakfast was so nice and engaging! I witnessed her being super warm to other guests too. Jessica & Mac at the the Coral Reef Breakfast restaurant were also super friendly! Location: The Sheraton is at the end of Kāʻanapali beach - right next to Black Rock. The hotel probably has the largest grounds out of the other nearby hotels which was nice. A lot of people from other hotels walk to the end of the path and swim at Black Rock Beach due to its snorkeling opportunities (Pretty nice when clear!) and cliff jumping! Unfortunately, unlike the Big Island hotels previously mentioned, the Sheraton does not have complimentary umbrellas and lounge chairs. I knew this after reading another review and we planned accordingly. We picked up 2 chairs, umbrella, fins and snorkeling belt from Boss Frogs for $109 for a week long rental. Much more affordable than the company on the beach, although not as convenient. Although the hotel and Kāʻanapali beach strand is much busier than I prefer, there are a lot of pros to this- you have close access to various dinner/lunch locations. We ate at Leilani's and Monkeypod at Whaler's Humpback Village during our stay- both highly recommended. Also... SO MANY TURTLES & WHALES! We saw so many turtles and whale right from the beach- such an awesome experience. Other beaches near by are also really great for snorkeling, like Kapalua Bay- we spent a couple days snorkeling there... We also went on a sunset cruise on SeaMaui right from Whaler's Village and a whale watching tour from Lahiana (Also a ton of great food options and only about 15 minutes from the Sheraton). The distance to the start of "The Road to Hana" and Haleakala is a bit out there and makes the day a bit longer, but still not a big deterrence. The pool was nice and large- never felt too crowded. It took us a couple days to find the whirpool/hot tub. It's tucked away in the middle of the pool behind some rocks. I do agree with other reviews that the pool was a bit cold. The Bad? Honestly.. I think it was an overall great stay. It's a bit busier than I like, but for some that might be a good thing. The rooms are a little bit older, but it doesn't take away from our overall experience. I'm just grateful that my husband and I are able to travel and enjoy experiences that others are not fortunate enough to do so. I think this hotel is a great option for people with children and for certain couples! Thank you Sheraton for a lovely experience!
Location is 5. Everything else is 1
The location is great and the beach is amazing. The hotel was never really “nice.” But We have been coming here for the past 20 years at least every 2 to 3 years due to its location and value . But now I don’t know how they justify to charge 1000 Dollars a night for a room? Inflation? Increased pay for the staff? The experience was not a 1000 Dollars a night experience. Old decor in rooms, tired property and no sense of Ohana among the staff. If the Marriott rep is reading this, please explain. But most likely you will ignore my review.
Sheraton Maui front desk
Mark, from the front desk, has been so helpful! We needed a wheelchair for our disabled sister and he went above and beyond to help us with our needs at short notice. So considerate and helpful. As are all the front desk people! Thank you all!!!
Beautiful grounds / rooms need updated
Staff were well trained, friendly and most helpful. Food was great, but of course Maui pricey. Not so sure the rooms are worth the high cost. Nothing special. Small refrigerator, no microwave. Not so sure room staff are trained on proper guidelines. The Kleenex box was in closet, long black hair on shower wall ( mine is short & gray) and dirty shower walls. Rooms 2103 is not really handicap requirements They are really into using QR codes which I despise. Grounds were beautiful, nice and clean. Rooms need major updating.
