Overpriced and not worth it
We went as a family in December, Maui was the second part of our trip. We were excited to come as we had such a great time in Kauai. Unfortunately, we were immediately struck with disappointment at how bad our room was - very small, and double beds. Yes, we could have booked 2 rooms for the 4 people (our room in Kauai was way more accommodating and it had set our expectations), but at nearly $1000/night with fees for one room, we wanted to save room to spend money while there. And boy do you need to set it aside at this resort. As everyone here has mentioned, you will pay for EVERYTHING at this place. The grounds are pretty and the pool is nice, albeit very crowded. The food is average to below average, and when you see the bill it's offensive. Thankfully we had a car (you know you're paying for that parking), which was necessary considering the poor location on the island. This is probably at the top of my list of worse value of anything I've ever booked. I was disappointed with Maui in general as it's very commercialized, I can't see a scenario in which I'd go back, let alone to Hawai'i as it's so far away and so expensive. I'm not a big beach person, so I guess it's lost on me, but I can't shake the thought that I could go to Portugal for 1/4 of the price and half of the flight time. Major miss here and would STRONGLY recommend against it

Beautiful Location, But Endless Extra Charges Ruin the Experience
The rooms were clean, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say about this resort. What completely ruined the experience is how aggressively this place charges extra for everything, even after you’ve already paid for your stay and the resort fees. You want to sit on the beach? Be prepared to pay extra for umbrellas and beach chairs. Yes—after paying for a room at a beachfront resort and paying resort fees, you still have to pull out your wallet just to sit by the ocean. If I had known this ahead of time, I would have gone to a public beach instead, which is essentially what this becomes unless you pay up. The breakfast buffet is outrageously overpriced. $50 per person for what is basically eggs, bread, water, and a small selection of fruit. That’s it. The quality and variety are nowhere near what would justify that price. It felt like a complete rip-off. To top it off, self-parking is NOT free, despite what you would reasonably expect at a resort charging this much already. Another hidden cost added to an already overpriced stay. This resort relies heavily on its location, but once you’re there, it feels like you’re being charged at every turn. Clean rooms don’t make up for the constant feeling of being nickel-and-dimed. Unless you enjoy paying premium prices for basic amenities, I would seriously reconsider staying here.

Amazing property, horrible management
Beautiful resort and grounds I’ve stayed at this particular Sheraton over 10 times and do love the Kaanapali area. Unfortunately, the resort has poor management staff and have overlooked more than a few things at our last stay January 5-17 2026. Overcharging and claiming damage in our room when we were staying in the room with only family and nothing was clearly damaged nor should have been charged at the end of our stay. On this occasion they charged us $3000 upon departure for supposed white mildew on the couch that was clearly there for a long time. Very disappointing and unfortunately will not stay at the Sheraton again. Beware of the management staff!

Jan 2026 first time visiting
This was our first time staying here and we loved it! We stayed in the Moana building and yes it's a little bit of a walk but we didn't mind at all. The view from our room was outstanding and we loved watching the whales from our balcony. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. We also loved the Coral Reef for dinner. Excellent food. The pool is amazing and the staff at the hotel were very nice. Can't wait to be back for another stay!

Great Luau but Sea Turtle Harassment Must Stop
We didn’t stay here, but up the beach at the Westin. We did however attend the New Year’s Eve Lua and it was awesome. We did come down to Black Rock a few times but distressing to see all the idiot tourists and their kids harassing the sea turtles. Sheraton, Westing, Lahaina and Maui County need to do better somehow to communicate and enforce this Federal protection. Did not enjoy seeing this at all
