Great Location, Pool underwhelming.
Great location and very nice staff. Big negative is the pool experience. About half the people there this week don’t actually stay at the hotel. Makes it so overcrowded since they don’t enforce the wristbands. single hot tub is packed too. For the money, they really need to fix up the pool and the experience around it. Always been a great spot

Storied resort with unique location next to black rock
The Sheraton was one of the original hotels built here in the early 1960s. My wife and I celebrated my birthday and our 32nd anniversary here in room 6404 Moana building. When we were checking in I said the most important thing to me is that we have a really good view of the ocean. We did pay for oceanfront but I felt I had to say it anyway. She said not to worry. The view didn't disappoint. Our room basically faced straight onto the ocean. We could see black rock to the left and the nightly ceremony as well as the little snorkeling area just to the right of it. We could see rays and turtles from our room. And since it faces directly west, the sunsets were amazing. The first night we slept with the sliding door open and just listened to the sound of the ocean. Heaven. These rooms are part of the original hotel. The hotel underwent a massive renovation in the 90s that expanded it. The one downside to being in these oceanfront buildings are they are very far from the (new) lobby. You have to take multiple elevators and walk quite a bit. Our room had plenty of space and a mini fridge and coffee maker. There was a microwave, but we didn't use it. The bathroom is large, but it could use some better ventilation. You generate so many wet towels when you're swimming all the time that it just gets very humid in the bathroom . We ate at most of the restaurants and overall the food was good not great. Everything is fresh. That's not the issue. It's just not served in an upscale manner. You're often using plastic utensils. Room service is very quick though. The beach is big and wide. It's not suffering the erosion that some of the resorts have experienced at the southern end of Kaanapali Beach. Another recommendation would be more rinsing stations as you come off the beach. There's only one and it has very little pressure and only a few heads on it. There's often a line. We liked being out on the point so to speak with our room. It felt much more secluded than I imagine other parts of the hotel must feel. You don't hear anything butT the ocean. As I said, heaven. Housekeeping service was also excellent. Oh, one more thing. I told them they desperately need to upgrade the phone system. It must be from the renovation in the 90s. I would def stay again. FYI there is some historic footage of the two first hotels in a documentary from 1964. Search "Ka'anapali, Maui in 1964" on YouTube. Hilarious footage of men in full ties and jackets at dinner and women watching a fashion show at the resort.

Great property but prepare to be nickeled and dimed
phenomenal beach. great stay and location. near golf, and cute little outdoor strip mall w numerous restaurants and other places to eat. the BAD part was that you get tickled and dimed. I've never stayed at a resort that charges for beach umbrellas! $100/day!! and that doesn't include tax and tip. outrageous. AND don't lose the water bottle that they give u b/c they will charge you $5. left a bad taste. oh and breakfast is $50/person

We had a great time!
We checked in on a Thursday and right away we were upgraded to a suite, I looked up the price of the room and it was double of what I originally booked. We originally in a Moana with a lanai which is in a really far part of the resort that I didn't know when I booked it so we were very happy with the upgrade to the ohana suite which is centrally located and has its own living room and a third Murphy bed which would be perfect for a family. The beach there is amazing, you do have to rent chairs and an umbrella but on the second day we were given chairs by a nice couple so we only had to rent an umbrella the rest of the time which is about $45 a day. I think we went in a shoulder season because the beach wasn't that busy but I could see it getting busy because it's such a good location and the snorkeling is beyond. We saw turtles which after a few days so you can turtles more common but also a deal and spotted eagle rays. The food was really good you just have to do your research on the restaurants beforehand, having a Starbucks on premise and being able to have a smaller breakfast did help save some money. You're also able to order food to the resort like order pizza so if you don't want to eat at the resort every meal you don't have to but the food especially at the cliff dive grill was really really good. The staff were friendly and helpful and the resort even though it was built in 1963, to be was up to par. Well hopefully be returning!

Over priced and over rated.
Overrated and overpriced. The photos, that perfect picture of the sand and beach is the only thing I can say was good. There was nothing about this resort I can could truly send a family or friend to without feeling good about it. The rooms, the common areas and how the resort is designed makes no sense but they sure do find a way to charge you an enormous amount of money for every thing you do comes with a big price at this resort. You are already a paying guest, what justifies charging a guest a parking fee at the resort you are paying to stay at that comes with, taxes, resorts fees the list go's on and on. My family and I will never return to this resort or Maui again. Be mindful when going to Maui. The business and the locals will take advantaged of you as everything is so over priced my family and I can think of many other beautiful places to visit that doesn't require us to fly 5 hours and land to have people spend your money for you. What a joke this was and how dare you people treat your visitors the way you are when we are the ones helping Maui get back on their feet after the fires.
