Almost perfect
Lovely resort hotel near Poipu Beach. We were here for our honeymoon, and they offered us a complimentary bottle of champagne, which was a lovely touch. You also get a box of chocolates for the resort fee. We were slightly worried that this is ranked 8 from 9 in hotels in Poipu, but there was no need to be, as check-in was easy, the room was spacious and bathroom very modern. The AC worked perfectly and there was a decent-sized fridge and 2 complimentary bottles of water. The TV was huge and there was a lot of storage and electrical outlets and the bed was very comfortable. We only had a garden view room on the ground floor but the balcony and outlook was perfectly nice and the room was very quiet and spotlessly clean. It’s in a small resort with plenty of shops, restaurants etc. just a short walk away. We were also here for a lu’au, which was also great. Clean beach towels were offered and there’s a great pool bar and sun loungers just off the gorgeous beach. Poipu was just a 5-10 minute walk away. What a lovely part of the world! Lovely hotel.

The nicest hotel with the best views
We stayed in the Sheraton Kauai Resort oceanfront king on the east part of the hotel. Wow! What a beautiful view and room. At check in we received complimentary chocolate covered macadamia nuts and skin care package skin care package (sunscreen, aloe, Chapstick). The resort fee also includes daily activities like yoga and lei making. Parking is also included. The pool area is nice with direct beach access and rentals available. The pool has bar/restaurant service from Lava's available. They will deliver your food/drinks to your pool chair. The resort has a cute little private beach, firepits, and yard games. We had a spacious room on the first floor with walkout patio that overlooked the ocean. A beautiful, secluded view of the ocean. It was an absolute dream at sunset. The room had a TV, fridge, couch, seating/ table inside, 2 patio chairs and a table outside, and double sinks with a large mirror in the bathroom. The room was serviced daily. The woman who cleaned our room was wonderful and always kindly engaged with us when we saw her. It is a 5 minute drive from poipu beach which always has lounging turtles! This probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. I don't have a single bad thing to say about it.

Beware of “upgrade”
Must preface this with the fact we’ve been to various Bonvoy properties in Hawaii every year (sometimes more than once a year) since 2007 and never experienced anything like this. Booked a garden room at the resort, NOT the villas, back in early Sept. Upon check-in, the very pleasant front desk agent told us that we were “upgraded” in a villa, across the street from the ocean, telling us how great it was because we’d have a washer/dryer, microwave, etc. What she failed to tell us was the villa studio was 200 sq. ft SMALLER than the room we booked, faced the side of a building and construction looking materials behind the complex, and was literally the furthest from the ocean. In the first five minutes, we both banged our legs on the bed corners and the coffee table as the room was so cramped. The bathroom was so tiny my husband had to turn sideways to get in. Husband goes down to discuss how this was a DOWNGRADE and we’d like a different room. This is where disbelief and anger came in. Front desk agent told him it was the same size as the room we booked, but just had more amenities so it just seemed smaller. The website clearly states the room we booked is 510 sq feet and the villa studio they “upgraded” us to is only 311 sq. ft! Next the manager came and said he’d see what he could do. At this time, we had reservations for an excursion and birthday dinner reservations in less than 30 min. Manager calls the room about 15 min later saying he had a last minute cancellation so he could move us out of the tiny studio villa into the resort that we originally booked. 8 months ago! Keep in mind I checked to see what rooms were available up until a few days before we arrived. They included rooms in the garden and oceanfront categories. In over 20 trips to Hawaiian Bonvoy properties, as Platinum, Titanium, Ambassador, and currently Lifetime Titanium, we’ve been upgraded approx 95% of the time, even on stays completely booked on points, but until we came here, NEVER been downgraded, and in this case, flat out weren’t told the truth. Now we are in a “garden” room facing the parking lot, which we feel is kind of like a punishment for requesting them to reverse our downgrade. I wish that was it. Went to breakfast for the first time here and was given the regular menu. I politely asked what the “platinum” breakfast included and was told we weren’t even in the system. Finally got that straightened out and received the new menu. I was asking for clarification about a menu item and the server seemed exasperated that he had to explain what was included. We have no problem paying extra for things not included, so my husband ordered an additional item. Get the check and was charged for said item yet never received it. Also, we got an email saying we cancelled our villa room…we never booked a villa room! I’m praying things get better from here. We’ve stayed at Waikiki Marriott, Westin Hapuna, Waikoloa Marriott, Kauai Marriott before it changed to a vacation club, Kauai Courtyard (now a Sheraton in Kapaa, and Wailea Marriott and have had nothing but excellent experiences and service there. That is why our experience here so far has been a huge disappointment.

Large , comfortable, resort on the south coast
A large hotel resort on each side of a road. We had a very large suite that faced the sea it is about a 30 min drive from the airport. The bedroom was large and comfortable. There is a small shopping complex about a 8 min walk away with a supermarket, shops , and restaurants.

Awesome location, great hotel property, just not keen on the villas
The location is superb. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shops nearby. The pool area for the hotel rooms is gorgeous; the one for the villas is dismal at best. While we stayed at the villa area of the hotel, I can highly recommend staying on the hotel side. The rooms are large and lovely. The villas are a different story. They are very tight, space wise, but nicely outfitted. I really do not care for the bathroom location in the 1 bedroom units. I will say they did a good job using the space they had to with on the villas, they are just very tight. I don’t think I would be comfortable with anymore than 2 people in a 1 bedroom villa. There is not much of a view from the villa section…only those on the top floor are going to get a peekaboo view of the ocean. The most annoying thing about the villa side is the noice from the patios. You can hear everything on everyone’s patio. It just resonates off the pool on the villa side. Everything else, including the exterior grounds and on site restaurants, are excellent.
