  Relaxing Place to Stay

  Just a gem. Great Value just don’t buy stuff. Go the Cenotes. Rooms were great and quiet and you were in a Fantasy Island. Some seaweed but not too bad.

  Our Third Visit to Secrets Riviera Maya – A Wonderful Experience for Vegans

  We have been to the secrets hotel Riviera Maya three times. Each time we have been very happy. The most important thing for us is our vegan diet. They go above and beyond to cater for us. Everyday Santiago on the catering side would come and ask us how our previous evening meal was. He will then ask us where we would like to eat that evening. He would then liaise with the chefs and their chefs would prepare something for us. Hugo who was I believe in charge of the Barefoot Grill was always checking if we were okay food wise. I would strongly recommend a vegan burger which comes with sweet potato fries salad and a dressing and burger was made of legume. Around the pool he would arrange for our vegan burger to be delivered to us from a different pool area as it was not offered at the pool we were at. There was a concierge for our building and her name was Gina who was very attentive to our needs. At breakfast we were always be greeted by Eliazar with a smile and asked if we needed anything, however I found the breakfast was more than enough and healthy too. Toast, guacamole, peanut butter, chi pudding, oats, seeds, nuts, smoothie and fruit. There were various plant milks too. In the Mexican, Michelle was a great help explaining the ingredients and making sure we were happy. We were always served by Ayram in the Himitsu restaurant and he remembered us from last time. We chose to be served my him and he will always make sure that our food was vegan and would explain the ingredients to us. I also have to mention the following we took part in our pleasurable stay. French chef Adrian and Maria Italian chef Edwin Manager Jasmine Italian restaurant Marysol who made us feel very special. There were three pools in total. A very quiet pool a quieter pool and an activity pool. We alternated between the 2 quieter pools as I like to read. We also found a people to be quieter in the quietest pool and the activity pool can be very loud. The beach was cleaned as there was quite a lot of seaweed due to the weather. The pools and the beach was warm. The only thing I would like to change is that the coco cafe did not have any dairy free options or vegan options and we asked them to make something for us especially which they did through our stay however we would have preferred had they done this without having to be prompted as there are many people with milk allergies and vegan preferences. We did find it was more favoured towards gluten free options and some of the labels in the restaurant were vegan but they were not labeled vegan but labeled gluten-free. Foods such as potatoe wedges and black beans which you would think would be vegan were actually not vegan however for lunch we would always have the Vegan burger from the Barefoot Grill or we could have had the pizza from the poolside with no cheese so I wasn't too bothered about the lunch. I sometimes popped in for a guacamole and salad though. Overall the service at this hotel is impeccable. Everyone greets you with a smile whether they are the gardener, waiters, maids even the concierge is from the other buildings. It has a jungle feel with lizards surprising you just run the corner, raccoons. But it's quite easy to get lost here but the staff are very willing to help you out and even walk you to your desired place. I have not heard anyone say anything bad about this hotel and I would not hesitate to visit it fourth time.

  Impeccable service!

  The service at this resort is out of this world. We were treated like absolute royalty! They made everything so easy and we often felt our needs were anticipated before we even knew what we needed.

  Do Not waste ur money away

  The resort is beautiful and remote in the jungle next to the ocean. However, it’s outdated and over priced. Los Angeles to Cancun for 7 night 6k for 2 people. The resort is not 5 diamond or 5 stars, it’s equivalent to 4 stars. Con’s: the grounds smell rotten from the ocean seaweed and jungle. Rooms were never been remodeled since 2015. It’s my 2nd stay in here. A swim out pool is dirty and not cleaned. Raccoons come in to the rooms and patio daily. Some restaurants the service is slow and the food is bland or too spicy. Example Himitsu: 30 min wait, 10min wait for a waiter, 20 min wait for food. Gym is feasible but equipment is old.. Pool: the umbrellas , the staff would not open it when the rain hardly drizzles, had to ask 3 people. The manager would not come by when asked. Construction/ remodeling in action while people are hanging out on the beach or pool starting 9am in the morning.. Pros: activities, entertainment is satisfactory but most for the older crowd.staff are polite and speak English

  Fabulous Vacation!!!

  EVERYTHING at this resort fabulous! The staff is probably the best we have ever experienced! The food is great, if they don’t list exactly what you want they will do their best to accommodate you with the request. I’ve been there for the last three years and plan on going again this summer. Highly recommend this resort. Also the snorkeling right off the beach is wonderful. Down the beach a little to book snorkeling with a guide was not a disappointment. They are very thorough. Even if you aren’t a strong swimmer they will help you!! Lots to see! Even saw a sea snake. Huge turtles.
