Four-Star Cheeto crumbs on the carpet?

BIG SCAM. The hotel advertises access to the concierge suite and charges for it - but on arrival says the concierge suite is closed. The hotel advertises free WiFi and then charges for it. Life's too short to have to spend time resolving fraudulent overcharges. The place is also skin-crawlingly disgusting. The mattress had a dark fluid stain of indeterminate origin, there were cheeto crumbs on the carpet, the coffee maker was sticky, and it looked like half the towels were left from a prior stay. The breakfast buffet was mediocre, and included inedible, undercooked sausages.

Waiters do not talk to each other and have no business sense

I went to the cafe downstairs called "Craft/Code". We decided to a la carte instead of the buffet. They told us to go get the oatmeal from the buffet. While on the way there, another waiters asks me if I want to order an omelette before the station closes. I do so. The original waiter comes and says, why did you get an omelette when you are doing a la carte? I told him that the other waiter told me to do so. This waiter then makes me feel bad. I asked him what he wants to do about. I'm like, just charge me for the omelette. He wasn't able to charge me and told me to not go there again. Thanks for being mean to me. I will not drop a single dollar on marriott again. Uptight management/employees

Shady business practice, check your credit card!

Hotel itself is OK.. not a standard Marriott hotel class, more of a INN or Motel quality. That's not why I gave them 1 star. We have two rooms stay at this hotel and upon checked in, I tried getting online via their WIFI. The WIFI page clearly stated for Marriott reward member, there won't be wifi charge.. non member will pay $9.95. Upon checked out, I saw a $9.95 charge to my card. I called and spoke to a staff member, they said they will issue me a refund.. days later, nothing happened and when I called back, they promised me with a refund and nothing happen. I called Marriott corp. office and they escalate the issue to the hotel management.. I received an email from Allen Chin - Directory of rooms claiming they will issue me a refund but won't give me any reward points.. but week later.. still no refund. This is a very shady business practice at this location. Best of luck giving them your credit card. I'm spending way too much time for a $9.95 charge and now have to dispute that with my credit card company.

    It was OK.

A cousin was getting married at the San Mateo Marriott recently, so we logically chose to stay there. The premise and hotel are large. Location off the 101 is great. It’s near the airport, but didn’t hear any airplane noise. The staff were friendly and pleasant. Overall, our stay was OK. Here is why: 1) We arrived at 12pm and knew our check-in was at 3pm. However, our room wasn’t ready till 3:30. 2) Café. The café has coffee, drinks, and light food like bagels. However, they weren’t open when we got there. When they did open at 3pm, there was one employee and a long line of patrons. On top of that, the café wasn’t well stocked with food (in other words, a lot of items, were out at the moment)….. so snack options were very limited. 3) Between the wedding and reception, there were no other options for food. The restaurant was closed till dinner time. 4) There were multiple events going on at the same time. There were at least three, maybe four events. Yes, the premise is big, but it was a little chaotic and busy. 5) And when we did go to their restaurant in the morning for breakfast, the menu items were very over-priced. Again, overall, it was OK. The issues with food were amplified because we were traveling with children. In retrospect, we brought plenty of water, but we should of brought our own snacks.

    Not much around...good stay

This was close to my office hence my stay was pleasant. I didn't have any challenges staying here. I left my valuables in the safe which the staff retained and returned safely. The only thing I feel is the breakfast options can get better. The evenings are quite crowded here at the Bar.
