Not a great "destination"
The hotel is very nice, the people are nice, the bar on the 39th floor is nice (but very expensive); however, there is a daily "Destination Fee" of $25. There are things you get for the fee, but if you don't need those things you still pay $25, no choice. People were going to the internal market to pay exorbitant prices for cookies and chips to use the $25. Does Marriott really think this is an attraction? The M Club is also nice, fun coffee maker and all types of waters; however, the breakfast was boring runny scrambled eggs and some type of sausage every day, with a large variety of pastries. The chefs couldn't get it together to make something else each day? There are many luxury hotels in this town, Marriott might be one to reconsider.

Great stay!
Beautiful hotel, great views, great location. There isn't anything bad about this hotel that is directly the hotel's fault. The traffic is terrible to get there, but other than that, once you get there and park your car, you can walk just about anywhere. I got a room on a pretty high floor, 2nd or 3rd from the top. Facing the bay and it was just gorgeous views from the floor to ceiling windows. My room was pretty big with a nice large walk in shower, a separate bedroom and the sitting room. There is a bar on the top floor (not an outside bar), but it also has great views (360) of the city. The drinks are stiff which is pretty awesome and everyone we spoke to was great, no complaints about the staff. We also tried the restaurant downstairs, try the pretzel, it was good!!!! The only thing that would have made this a better experience would have been room service instead of having to go up and down, but meh, not enough of a big deal to knock them on score. If you are in town I strongly recommend staying here.

Good hotel, horrible service
The property itself is very good as great location and clean rooms. But that’s it. The staff without an exception are either indifferent or at times they get to the point of almost rude ( the best one is unhelpful), dare to complain, the word “sorry” for all the mess they creat does not exist. Being a “Gold” member does not make a difference of course . So if you are lucky and no messed up in the booking , you can come and go without any issue and as I said a lovely property . If there is any issue, my advice is that you don’t bother .

Poorly managed and overpriced
The basic necessities were OK, such as the general cleanliness and the cleaning service. The negatives include the bell stand. They guaranteed dry cleaning by 7:00 PM same day as long as you drop it off by 10:00 AM. As of this review they are almost 24 hours later than promised. Furthermore, apparently if you get a package delivered to you while at the hotel you can't get it delivered to your room without A FEE. I literally spent 30 minutes trying to find the package room, after the bell staff gave me idiotic directions just saying "it's on B2." I then asked him where the stairs were, and the idiot said "B2." Eventually the moron got that I was asking for the stairs and told me where they were. Of course he didn't tell me there were TWO B2 levels. I eventually found a random office in the lower B2 level where someone showed me where the package place was. The moron working there took down all of the info about the package and then said "do you have her ID" when I wanted to pick up the package for my girlfriend. HER ID??? REALLY? What is wrong with this hotel???? He refused to let me pick up her package for her because I didn't have her ID. WHO ON EARTH carries around another person's ID??? It's not as if this hotel is inexpensive either. To have idiotic policies, CHARGE to deliver a package to your room, and have rude and moronic bell staff, is inexcusable.

Business visit
Great location, walking distance to Union Square shopping area. The hotel is also well served by BART. The room is spacious and prompt cleaning service. There is also a Target opposite the hotel which make it very convenient. I didn’t go for hotel breakfast which is quite pricey at $39 per pax but there is a pantry bistro which you can get coffee, pastries etc. The hotel gym is amazing and open 24 hours!
