Perfect Caribbean Resort
This is my idea of a perfect Caribbean resort. It is small with all rooms being an easy walk to the perfect beach. It was never a problem to get a lounger or towels. The landscaping is just gorgeous. We had a first floor patio that was surrounded by flowers with a nice view. Everything is well maintained and the employees are mostly friendly. The bed was very comfy and it was so quiet at night, with a faint sound of ocean waves. We ate at the on site restaurant for breakfast every morning and in the evening we would walk to area restaurants. The weather was a little cooler than Punta Cana and Jamaica where we usually go. Glad I packed one long sleeve shirt and a jacket. But the afternoons were perfect with warm sun and a wonderful breeze. It was so nice to have a washer and dryer in the unit. Hope to return soon.
Sherman made us feel so welcome - and he remembered us from a previous visit!! Talk about a warm welcome!!
This is our 3rd stay at RWI and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else. We have been to a couple of ocean view hotels here on Grace Bay but love it here. Starting with the warm welcome from Sherman to the immaculate property and the great staff at the towel/water activities desk we couldn’t be happier. We always splurge on an ocean front unit and each one we have had has been super clean, well stocked and the kitchen has everything we could ever need. The restaurant is reasonable and offers happy hour and twice weekly live music!! We love the pizza and cappuccinos are really good. Great fries, great wait staff. Everyone who works here from the gardeners to the front desk is friendly and ready with a smile. The beach chairs, towels and showers plus bathrooms close by are great. There are 2 catamarans and some paddle boards for guests to use. Not many resorts offer those included. RWI is on the best stretch of Grace Bay!! 5 star resort!
Poor Customer Service for Repeat Visitors
I did not want to have to write this review but the resort was unwilling to do the right thing. This was my family's third time to The Royal West Indies Resort and we have always enjoyed ourselves which is why we return to this same resort. Repeat customers are able to get a 10% room discount - I booked online but did not see where the discount was applied. I called directly to the resort and they said it would be applied. When I checked in, I asked the front desk person whether the discount had been applied and was told it had been. I went about enjoying our vacation but decided to look at my receipts on the last day and did not see the deduction. I went back to the front desk and had them review the charges and this time was told that the discount had not been applied. They said that they needed the manager to deal with this but we had to leave for our departing flight so I did not get to speak to her in person. I was told that they would call me to discuss. I did not hear from anyone so I reached out to the resort myself and was told that since I had checked out, there was nothing that could be done. I am extremely disappointed that the resort would not honor their repeat customer policy. There are too many nice resorts in Turks & Caicos to spend any more money at this particular one that does not seem to want their customers to happily return.
Wonderful time at the RWI resort!
We stayed in an Ocean View suite from 12/25 - 12/30 and could not have been more pleased with the experience. The room was large, nicely furnished and the bed and bedding were very comfortable. We had a lovely lanai with view of the resort grounds and ocean. The grounds and pool were impeccably maintained. My daughter and I really appreciated the diverse landscaping throughout the resort. The resort is located on Grace Bay beach and it is hard to describe how beautiful the water and sand are. Comfy lounge chairs and umbrellas were complimentary and we never had trouble finding a spot to enjoy. Being on the beach was also great because we were able to get picked there for our half day cruise with Caicos Dreams. The only downside was spotty Wi-Fi. The staff were very helpful and friendly (Sherman, Campbell and front desk). I would highly recommend the resort.
I had a nice stay at RWI
As everyone on this site has mentioned, the resort is very well looked after. It is spotless. the flora and fauna as so well manicured. I rented a car and there is plenty of space in the well-lit car park. Before I booked, I had read a few disparaging reviews about the poor reception from the staff. Well, I can say that I experienced nothing but a warm welcome. This was the 4th time I have visited TCI and the folks at RWI only added to me feeling at home. I couldn't thank you guys enough! I was in room 412 - and it was SPOTLESS. Everything that I needed was provided, was working & clean. I was REALLY impressed with the room tbh. Such an improvement from where I had previously stayed before at TCI. The walk from the room to the beach is just past the restaurant, and the resort provide loungers, fresh towels and meal service if you want to hang out by the clear blue sea all day..... which I did. I visited the restaurant one night. The cocktails are great. The food is great and good value for money. Since COVID TCI has changed quite a bit. There has been a lot of building work including a very ugly Ritz Carlton slap bang in the middle of Grace Bay. With this investment (IMO) this has brought a certain level of arrogant traveler to the island. I lament this. I appreciate progress and can embrace change - but this feels TOO touristy... anyway rant over - I would still return to TCI and RWI. Thanks team!
