Rui Tequila, Playcar, Mexico November 2023 Review
Just recently returned from an 11 night trip here - stayed there 21/11 to 3/12, didn't get off to the best of starts being stuck in Cancun airport border control for over one & half hours, then getting told to fill in a declaration form which nobody mentioned to us which took over half an hour to get a form & then fill this in with one of the 3 pens available (you can fill this form in prior to flying I've been told so look into that before you travel, as this will save you time at the airport) then we got stuck waiting on Tui bus for well over an hour waiting for other passengers from our flight to get through the same sh** show of an airport. Hotel very nice I must say, all the pools are great - pool bar can get rowdy during the day but each to their own I guess if you like that kind of thing & the grounds lovely too, everyone very friendly in & around the hotel, I've got to say (big shout out to Zefe, Rangel & Guillermo in the main restaurant, them 3 gentlemen were amazingly helpful on a morning & evening - a credit to the Rui Tequila) the other hotels which you can visit which are the Yucatan & Playacar are nice especially Playacar hotel is lovely there pool bar is great & they're both right on the beach which is amazing - no issues from anyone walking along the beach its all safe & sound. The only thing I did honestly struggle with is the food I'm sure everyone can get by on what is put out & made in the hotel, but I found it hard especially on an evening - at breakfast & lunch I found nice & could manage. The speciality restaurants are ok too, the Asian Fusion one we were in & out in 10 minutes that one isn't the best but again each to their own I might just be too picky, the Steak one & Italian one are ok too. We did see a lot of people around hotel bars have their own cooler cups/bottles so maybes if you use those take one with you & it's better for your drinks in hotel especially around the pools. If you want to do the famous Coco Bongos, then book through your official travel rep in the hotel - we knew lots of people who complained about booking via the Coco Bongos sellers that come around the hotels & they couldn't get a refund (its not cheap mind think around 160 dollars for the cheapest package) they mainly complained because they didn't get what they paid for & the drinks tasted funny (either watered down or tasted of vinegar) or didn't get as many they thought for the money they paid unless they tipped the servers heavily at Coco Bongos) The weather was good for the first week, few cloudy days & few rainy days in the second week but overall, for November I couldn't complain. We got a taxi to 5th Avenue one day & we wouldn't rush back there - you just got absolutely HOUNDED from everyone on the streets asking you into their shops, bars & restaurants it can be overwhelming especially for maybe females by themselves or a group of female couples - if you do go try to cover up your hotel wrist band then they'll think you're not a tourist & will let you walk by in peace (we got told this by one of the staff members at the hotel. The little shopping mall there is ok with shops like Zara etc & its peaceful & don't get hassled. I would take some Pesos or Dollars, try not to pay for things on your actual bank card as you get charged big exchange fees for this - if you do want to pay on a card for trips, shopping etc. try to pay on your credit card you get a much better rate. Overall, a good trip to Mexico & the Rui Tequila - it'll be a while before we return to Mexico (not for anything I've mentioned in this review I must say - we're not ones for returning to the same hotels or resorts, we like to try different places as there's plenty more places to see.

Best place for a vacation
My husband and I have been to this hotel 19 times and will continue to go and recommend to everyone. The service is fantastic, the cleanliness of the rooms and grounds is phenomenal, all the staff are very friendly from the manager down to the gardeners.

The best vacation
I have traveled a lot but the Riu Tequila beat all the previous hotels! The ambience of this place is amazing. It is elegant but in the same time you feel like you can be yourself all the time. The people are amazing, always smiling a helpful. Animation team goes beyond- providing so much fun every day! The beach is stunning and the atmosphere amazing! I fell in love with this hotel and I need to be back - it is a long trip from Poland but it is soooo worth it!

Wow!
We stayed at the Riu Tequila for our honeymoon and had the best time, we'll definitely be back! The hotel itself is fantastic. The gardeners work hard every day to keep the grounds beautiful. There are coatis and agoutis everywhere which are so fun to watch. Our room was huge, I'm not sure what people were complaining about saying the beds are small, they're massive! The cleaners work extremely hard and always left a towel animal on the bed. It was my husband's birthday whilst we were away and they decorated the room in such a thoughtful way. The minibar is stocked up every day, you never have to ask for it to be re-filled, but if you do want something extra you can request it on the Riu app which is super useful. The food was the best we've ever had at an all inclusive. Breakfast had everything you could think of- full English, pancakes, waffles, cereal, bread, and freshly squeezed juices. Sometimes the beans were a bit cold (expected at a buffet), but they had a microwave so you could heat your food up. Lunch and dinner were fantastic too, there was something for everyone. There was always grilled meat, fish, pasta, pizza, food for fussy eaters (chips, burgers etc), and excellent vegetables. There was also salad and a good selection of desserts including ice creams and a chocolate fountain. We tried all of the a la carte restaurants. The steakhouse was our favourite. The mixed grill for 2 was incredible, the meats were delicious and so were the sauces. The Chinese and Mexican were our second favourites, and the Italian was our least favourite, but was still good. There were five pools to choose from- one big pool, a bar pool, a games pool, and smaller pool and a children's pool. We read some reviews where people moaned about guests getting drunk and it being noisy... we never witnessed any of this, but I imagine it could happen at the bar pool, however this wouldn't have been a problem because there are so many other pools to choose from! If you don't want to get involved, you don't have to. The entertainment team work so hard to put on activities throughout the day. They're up early every day speaking to all the guests, even if they've stayed late the night before. The neon and white parties were fantastic. Guests from two other hotels come for these nights so they're really fun parties. The bar staff are absolutely amazing. I've never seen people work so hard and so fast, always with a smile on their faces. The cocktails are absolutely incredible too! There was so much choice, and they even made cocktails that weren't on the menu (frozen sex on the beach was our favourite). The beach was around a 5 minute shaded walk away, or there was a buggy that took people down. The beach is beautiful with white sand and crystal clear water. We had use of another hotel's bar so you could get drinks whilst at the beach, and the grill down there was excellent for lunch. There were a few water activities included with our stay. We tried the snorkelling, however you only get given a mask and no mouthpiece, so it makes sense to buy one before you get there. All in all every part of our holiday was fantastic and we will be back! We spoke to so many people who said this was their 8th, 15th or even 30th time coming and we can see why! All of the staff work so hard to make sure you have the best holiday, and it really shows. Thank you!

Excellent Trip
We did a family trip for Thanksgiving and loved every bit of it. The resort is amazing. 5 pools with 4 of them in the center near a bar & the grill for lunch. The restaurants were amazing with great food and friendly associates. Dali at the front desk was the best. He was very easy to work with and really made us feel valued.
