  Great Week in Punta Cana

  We had a great stay at the Riu Republica. Any issues were quickly resolved and Elana at the front desk was top notch. Reading reviews prior to going would scare you as many complained about the noise and food but honestly everything was amazing. If you have trouble finding something to eat then you are extremely fussy. Staff was amazing and always greeted you with a smile. Shout out to Roa for his poolside service and smile! I would definitely recommend this resort.

  Very lively

  Everything on the resort is nice it’s a party atmosphere non stop so be ready only complaint is the Ac units in the room need work I’m not the only one to mention this but the grounds and pools n beach is well kept food could be a bit better but overall was a nice experience

  Good But Could Aspire to be Better

  Room 3071 for 7 nights. The room was spacious. Daily room cleaning was very well done. The resort has lots of staff for cleaning rooms and grounds. The buffets and restaurants are also well staffed. The food was generally good. Some of the 4 specialty restaurants are better than others. In particular, for us the Kulinarium rated very highly for food quality and service, while the Steak House Quisqueya because of its fixed sittings rated low with poor quality rushed food. Maintenance at the resort is a weak point. The shade coverings over the pool chairs are in poor shape with torn covers, pull ropes that don't exist or don't work. There are tiles missing in some of the pools. I was disappointed in the room to discover that there is only one electrical outlet and it is above a bedside table meaning that I had to sit on the bed to work my computer with the mouse running on the sheet. The room is large enough to add a desk with an outlet under the TV, moving the set of drawers closer to the deck door. We enjoyed the water slides. The beach is great for walks up and down. Due to large waves at this resort, only wave jumping and body surfing were possible. For swimming we had to walk about 20 minutes down the beach around the point to calmer water.

  The location is top . The beach is huge and very clean compared to other places . We had changed towels every day, bed was done every morning and mini bar was restocked every other day. However a plus would have been if bottles would had any alcohol in them (were empty). Another minus is the Steak restaurant. Was impossible to book a table and no change for booking was given by the staff. But there were other restaurants where to chose from. Parties and drinks were until late so whoever likes parties that’s the top I’ve seen in any other resort. Staff was polite and happy to help, even tho in there everyone asks or expects for tips so you get the best treatment . I enjoyed a lot and I will be looking to stay at RIU everywhere I am going from now on .

  My wife Tatiana and I had a two‑week stay at Hotel Riu República, and in many ways it was wonderful. The room was comfortable, the food and drinks were excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly — truly some of the best service we’ve experienced. But for us, swimming in the ocean is a key part of any vacation, and this is where we faced a challenge. The beach is lovely, but for all 14 days the waves were very high, making swimming impossible. Of course, this isn’t something the hotel can control, but it did affect our experience. Thankfully, we discovered a quieter beach about 1.3 km to the east, where the water was much calmer. That discovery saved our vacation; without it, we would have been very disappointed. So while the hotel itself is excellent, travelers who enjoy ocean swimming should consider the wave conditions when choosing where to stay.
