Super Central Times Square Location
Rui Plaza Manhattan Times Square is an amazing location, minutes walk from the busy excitement of Times Square & the amazing nightlife. At the moment of arrival, till the point of leaving you can feel the New York vibes and excitement from the start. The arrival checking in process, is quick, straightforward, simple and painless. However, it is worth noting that there is a Resort Fee at the location to pay on arrival, then a further $200 Holding Fee. I have seen numerous people in the past comment about how long it can take to get this back to any bank card, so we paid the cash and got it back on leaving straightforwardly without headaches or stress. This can be easily done, so worth noting!! The hotel appeared all clean and tidy, from the communal areas down to the hotel room. The hotel is made up of 2 tower blocks, each served by 3 elevators, which during the busy breakfasts period, one lift is used to provide guest travel from the breakfast line in the lobby to the restaurant on the 5th floor. You can’t go directly yourself and have to go via the lobby breakfast line, which wasn’t explained to us on checking in. Our hotel room was located on the 25th floor, and had a wicked view out across, the nearby buildings. There were other views on the landing windows across Times Square. The room what all the essentials, plenty of power sockets to be used, with a nice clean shower room. Only downside during our stay was that it was Spring Break and there were a number of loud student groups at the hotel, busy celebrating and partying, causing a fair bit of noise well into the morning hours. Breakfast was a buffet style setup, with a large selection of fruit, cereals, yogurts, cold meats, and American streaky bacon/sausages hash browns and other nibbles. Just be mindful when it comes to leaving as the hotel attempt to get you to use one of the waiting Black VIP transfers waiting outside the hotel, however these are far more expensive than a normal Yellow Cab which operate at a fixed rate.

Great hotel
We had a 3 night stay, booked through Virgin Holidays. When booking there were no rooms with breakfast included left, however when we arrived we were able to include breakfast to our booking which we were very pleased about as it was a great buffet! Check in was simple and once in the room we received a call from reception to check everything was ok with the room, greatly appreciated. We were very happy with our room, it was clean and beds were very comfy! I would highly recommend this hotel, great location and great staff.

Poor checking out and communication after our stay has put us off this hotel
We stayed at the Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square and overall had a good stay, however the experience after checkout has been really disappointing. Upon checking out, we were told that our would $200 holding fee would be released back to us. However, once we returned to the UK, we only received $7 back, which was unexpected and concerning. I contacted the hotel and was told this was due to a laundry charge. However, this doesn’t add up as our laundry bill (around $134) was paid in full at the time of collection during our stay. I emailed the hotel again on Friday to query this further and have still not received a response, which is frustrating. We were actually considering booking this hotel again for next year due to the location and overall stay, but this lack of clarity and poor communication has really put us off.

Great hotel, breakfast and location.
Lovely modern hotel in a great location. Family room consisting of two queens and a sofa bed was great. A good size for NY, nicely done, comfy beds, modern, spotlessly clean, lovely bathroom. Location was spot on. Staff friendly and helpful. Great coffee shop in lobby, good selection of meals and snacks and very reasonably priced compared to outside the hotel. Buffet breakfast was great so much choice and tasted good would recommend including this in booking. The process is you have go down to the lobby then join a line and they take you up to level 5 to the buffet. This works well if you are down early. We made sure we left our room by 8 am every day to avoid waits for lifts/queues. With two teens that was hard going some days to get us all up and ready by then! After breakfast we came back to the room and needed to leave the hotel around 9.30/10 each day for our attraction reservations. We were floor 20 (one side of elevators was 1-27. The other 28-48) My advice do not even attempt to take the elevator down between 8.30-10am. You can wait 20 mins or more for one and then can’t even get in it as it’s so full. One elevator on this side is used for the breakfast line until 10 am. Maybe it’s not so bad the other side where 3 are available. It was so stressful and we ended up having to walk 20 flights as every time one stopped which was rare enough it was jam packed. This was the only negative. I would recommend this hotel and stay here again but would request a room on floors 28-48 or use elevators before 8.15 am or after 10 am

Great hotel - helpful & friendly staff. Good sized comfortable rooms with good facilities. Breakfast is well organised by the staff and is fresh and varied. The location of the hotel, just off Times Square is perfect for exploring New York
