Just returned from a family (9 people) trip to Negril. Overall, the trip was wonderful. The ride from the airport is long, but our driver was great and was giving us information our whole ride there. Check in was quick, and we were in the 0 block. While there was some noise from the road, it was not disruptive. The room was huge and clean and had a decent sized balcony. The whole overall vibe was a quiet one especially where our room was (as far away as you can get). It was a quick walk to everything. The beach is gorgeous and calm and we were able to float all day long. We never had any issues getting a chair no matter what time we went down. You can walk up and down the beach for miles which was nice. We were also able to get chairs at the pool midday. Everything was spotless and people were constantly cleaning all day long. The people were amazing. They made the whole trip. The entire staff was friendly, polite, and welcoming. They made it their job to make our kids (and us) happy and have a good time. Big shout out to the vibe team and the kids club (Tracy, spotlight, supermario, and all) for making our days and night fun! The staff at the restaurants and bars was also great and friendly, too may to name but Jackie in the buffet was great! The reservation system for dinner was annoying especially when you are with a large group. We were able to wait a few times for tables, but something needs to be fixed with the online app system. Its nearly impossible to get a table for all of us together when you are trying to book at the same time on an app that didnt always cooperate. Of all that we tried, we loved the asian and steakhouse the best. The jerk hut and the buffet were also great. We loved the little snack shop and coffee place for quick treats during the day as well. All in all, we had a great time in Negril!

We went for 10 nights to this hotel and it was honestly faultless. The staff are so helpful and friendly, the food is of great quality and plenty of it . Plenty of sunbeds, never a problem with people saving them as there are more than enough for everyone. The entertainment was great and the drinks spot on .we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and would love to return.

Amazing family vacation!
I would love to throw a Riu party for all the staff at the Riu Palace!! They are all incredible! Each and every member of the resort went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous! Hey Riu corporate, give back to the locals!!! Completed pre-check prior to arrival, which made check in once we arrived a breeze!! Beverly at the front desk was top notch, super pleasant and accommodating! Love her!! We had an ocean front room 3209, excellent location and fantastic views! Thank you Beverly. While the room could use some updating, it served the purpose of shower and sleep! The room was very clean, amble supplies, towels replenished daily, zero issues with the air conditioning. Bed is definitely firm, not exactly what I would prefer, so we doubled up on the blankets. Thank you Jovia!! For taking care of our room all week! You rock! Pools and grounds were very clean, our teenager bounced from volleyball pool to beach, plenty of kids to have fun with. All the pool restrooms were very clean, Kenensha was making sure messes from kids etc where immediately cleaned up Now the beach/ocean is unreal, very clean. We loved the beach!! No sand fleas and much better than the Riu Negril, which is about 10 min walk along the beach. I would come back and stay here again. Buffet was average, and steakhouse was the best, but way too hard to get a reservation. Chynelle treated us like royalty every day for breakfast and lunch, so on top of customer service! Thank you!! All the staff at the pool bar and regular bars, Jelani, Giovani were dancing, singing, laughing, just made our days so much fun! They are all so hard working! And the bar was always packed! They never skipped a beat! The shows were great! Entertainment team day and night was amazing! Update the beach chairs, permit 2 towels per guest so I can cover the chairs, and update the rooms and 5 stars all the way!

EXCELLENT STAY PERFECT WEEK
Hi All Reviewers This was our second trip to Jamacia. First stay at a RIU. We are seasoned Cuba travelers, having been to Varadero 35 plus times. It would not be fair to compare the 2 places due to availability and resources. RIU Palace Tropical Bay was recommended to us by a co worker. When he told us this was a good resort with a great beach he was spot on. PROS. The staff in all aspects of the resort were super friendly and always trying to help you or do something for you. Check In was simple, front counter staff were very helpful Beautiful Resort Excellent service Beautiful Beach, lots of seating. Long enough for a good walk in each direction. No water shoes required here. Entertainment team were busy doing things every morning. In the afternoon they were at the pools. Beach bar staff would make sure you had everting you wanted. They would randomly bring trays of ice water around for who ever wanted a drink of water. Super clean inside and out Room 5214 was clean, modern, great location. The fridge was well stocked daily with pop, beer, water and juices. The bar was also well stock and refilled as needed. Our maid did a great job cleaning. We had fresh towels twice a day. We really didn't need them, they just did it. Turn down service at night was nice too, but again maybe not needed. Food: Buffet was organized, clean, and had a great variety. Something for everyone. Buffet Staff were very attentive and wanted you to sit in there area. A la Carte's: We did all 3. Amazing food, Chefs came out after the meal to see if everything was OK. He even sang happy Birthday at one of the tables and he sincerely enjoyed it. He called himself the singing Chief. There is a nice coffee / pastry shop for afternoon snack Make sure you visit the Jerk Hut and get some delicious Jerk chicken from Jolly. Log onto the RIU app and you get what ever you need, book your own restaurant's, very convenient Evening entertainment was great. If you decide to travel off resort, book your taxi in the lobby. We had Carl take us out to a small market and Ricks Cafe. Very nice man Another bonus for us and traveling to Jamaica is they all speak English. Communication and talking to the staff is wonderful. We can share stories and have good conversation with them CONS: 2.5 hour bus ride from the airport. Worth it once your there Beach peddlers, they travel the beach constantly, if you say no thanks they don't bother you or harass you. Shade on the beach is slim. There are no umbrellas, just natural trees In a nut shell, we had an excellent week and would certainly go back again if we decided to visit Jamacia. Flawless Beach and No Crowds: A Quiet Family Escape
Pros (The Absolute Highlights): The Beach & Sunsets (Absolute Perfection): Paradise-like sea conditions. Zero waves, no rocks, and completely free of sargassum (seaweed). The pristine water and stunning sunsets alone justify the entire trip. Atmosphere (The Plus): A remarkably quiet and relaxing family environment. No crowds. There is no stressful early-morning rush to reserve sun loungers; space is always guaranteed. Activities: Great access to non-motorized water sports, including paddleboarde and kayak. Dining (Buffet): The main buffet is very decent, offering reliable options. Cons (Critical Logistics to Consider): Room Layout (Alert for Families): Connecting rooms DO NOT EXIST here. If you are traveling with teenage children, you will be placed in separate rooms. Accessibility: There are no elevators, and the residential buildings are 3 stories high. Keep this in mind for luggage. Facilities & Dining: The hotel infrastructure is not the newest, and the swimming pools are small. The à la carte restaurants are very average. Location & Service: Be prepared for a 2-hour drive from the MB airport. General service is just "OK". Verdict: Despite not the newest facilities, lack of elevators, and room separation for families, the flawless, crowd-free beach and genuinely peaceful vibe make it a solid choice. We would definitely return.
