Riu Kulkulkan should be avoided. Too many other great options for them to treat guests like we were treated.
On our last morning, I lightly bumped a small bathroom "make-up" mirror and it fell and broke. Rather than being mounted on the wall beside the large bathroom mirror like it is at all other hotel bathrooms which have such a mirror, it's mounted on the wall directly opposite the large bathroom mirror where people walk. At checkout a few hours later, I told the customer service representative Ignacio (Nacho) Fernando about it. He charged us $341 to repair that damage!!! He was so disrespectful about the matter that my wife cried. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and have gone to Cancun/Playa/Tulum at least once each year throughout our marriage, staying at different resorts each time. The mirror, the terrible customer service, and the fact we couldn't get our room below 73 degrees fahrenheit at a hotel that's less than 5 years old made this Riu Kulkulkan experience by far the worst resort stay we've ever had. Attached anyone can see the invoice we were forced to pay at checkout for the $341.60 mirror. Avoid Riu Kulkulkan. There are hundreds of other options, and the vast majority are fantastic.

Another great trip to Riu Kukulkan
This was our second time at this resort. We had a great time! The staff was very friendly and attentive. We met Caesar who is a member of Riu fun at lunch one day. He was very charismatic and fun to talk with. He made our trip so much fun and always would have a smile and a chat with us when we saw him. Thank you Caesar for the special time! The karaoke on Sunday was a great time. Espresso martinis hit amazingly in the early pm, a little too much probably ha! We attended the Pink Party on Friday. It was a dose of the spring break we never took in the best way possible! We had a massage one of the days, highly recommend! Thank you to everyone at the Riu for a very memorable trip! -el Capitán

Very nice place to stay in Cancun
Staff were friendly. The hotel was very clean. The food was great. All services were available at the resort including a currency exchange and an Amstar representative. Nearby is an amazing shopping mall that is one place you have to visit. The ocean is beautiful, and the pools are fully staffed with servers too. There is a shuttle to another nearby Riu for an exciting wild party. You will not be disappointed staying at this resort.

Second Visit Was as Good as the First
We had another amazing stay at the resort (2nd time there). The grounds were immaculate, the pools were well kept with plenty of chairs available, and the beach area was well maintained. Our room was cleaned daily and the minifridge was well stocked. The element that really made the experience great was the attention and care we received from the staff. I'd specifically like to call out: Addy attended to us at the pool each day. She remembered us and what we were drinking and all it took was a wave from across the pool. She was always cheerful and my cup was never empty. Sergio tended bar and waited on us at night. He was also super friendly and he brought us drinks before I asked. I remembered him from our first visit because he was so good. We are not "foody" people but we enjoyed the food and service at the restaurants as well. Antonio managed the Asian restaurant and he took great care of us. We got outstanding service from Kevin and Alejandro at the steakhouse, best meal of the week. Kukulkan will remain on our list as one of the best resorts we've visited in Mexico (out of 15).

Worst resort
The worst resort on this planet! Don’t waste your money or time! I can’t give a lower star.. negative 10,000 stars not worth the money. Unless you want to catering the staff. If you want service go somewhere else!!
