Super great Riu!
We had a great time at this resort! It is now our favorite Riu!! Good was great.. we strongly recommend booking an Elite Club level room! We were on the 11th floor and the view was amazing. Pool and Beach were great! Our flights back were cancelled due to a huge snow storm at home Armando at front desk was amazing and enabled us to extend our stay two nights and even stain our same rooms! He was incredible! Also Izul and Axel at front desk were the most friendly and helpful! We were very impressed by them! Also at breakfast Gerardo took great care of us and made the Best Mimosas!!! We shall be booking here again!!!!!

VERY DISAPPOINTED
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WHOLE EXPERENCE!!!! We went to RUI Kukulakan with 9 frinds and family members in Febuary 2026. We were to have a King size bed, ocean view, which we were told sorry there are non availabe. Management was VERY rude and were A-holes!!! Our group was very disappointed in the entertainment. Most of the entertainment was off property, you take a shuttle to and from on there schedule. The food/restaurants were the worst I've ever experienced in Mexico. My wife got sick from at one of the restaurants the first days we were there. Upon check out we were told we had a charge of $65 US for a towel we used due to her being sick. Needless to say I was NOT happy!!!!!!!!! Please look into other propertys when scheduling your vacation........ I would'nt want you to spend your hard earned money on a DISAPPOINTING place like RUI Kukulkan........

Great place for relaxation
The location was great! The rooms were big and clean and there was turndown service. There was a lot of suitcase rolling in the halls during night, but otherwise, it was ok. The pools were fun and there were 5 of them.

Good overall, but a very noisy hotel
Just finished a 9 night stay here and overall we were happy. There are a few things that mean I can't give it 5 stars. First, the good things: The staff are great. Without exception friendly, helpful and cheerful. The buffet restaurant is pretty good for a buffet. Good selection, everything fresh. The beach is lovely, super clean and good service. The things that were less good: This is a NOISY hotel. I thought it would mostly be couples, but there are a lot of larger groups. They like to start drinking early and obviously by later in the day they are all drunk, shouting and screaming at each other. It doesn't help that the hotel seems to have been designed with no thought given to acoustics...the 'noisy' pool which has activities and deafening music blaring out is about 20 yards from the 'quiet' pool, with no acoustic barrier. The pool bar is 20 yards the other way and plays loudish music that competes with the noise from the noisy pool. The lobby bar gets VERY noisy at night..again a combination of drunken groups shouting and screaming, combined with a total lack of acoustic dampening/planning. If management brought in an acoustic dampening consultant and spent little money on designing and installing some acoustic barriers they could make the resort much more enjoyable for everyone. The speciality restaurants not being bookable unless you pay for the Elite upsell is annoying. And the steakhouse certainly wasn't worth the hour and a half wait...everything tasted frozen. Definitely the worst filet mignon I've ever had in my life. And you're restricted to one (small) side dish as well. Also if you're using the hotel provided transportation to and from the airport, be aware that they'll want to pick you up over four and half hours before your return flight. Just book an Uber, it's less than 20 bucks (don't get a taxi, that will be about 50, and definitely don't take the private transfer rip-off that the transport company will offer for 60 bucks). My only other gripe is having a bath tub and the sinks in the main room. I know it's become the fashion these days, but it's so annoying and pointless. Can't we just have a proper bathroom?

Fortunately 50 in Cancun RIU style
I just spent my 50th birthday with this Hotel and it was absolutely incredible. My sister booked this surprise vacation for me and my two besties were there. The hotel took such great care of us! My birthday was so special they had the room decorated and I had Champagne and birthday cake not once but twice. The room was beautiful and the view was absolutely stunning. I was in awe the whole time. The atmosphere was relaxing yet a non stop party . They provided something for everyone from the team at the pools , bars, lobby, restaurants etc. I was also fortunate to enjoy a very much needed hot stone massage at the Reva Spa at the resort Nida took great care of me. It was superbowl Sunday and boy did they lay out a spread complete with vip seating for the half time show. I will definitely be back soon . Thank you RIU it was truly a most amazing experience and milestone.
