Club 18 - 30...
The hotel was full of noisy American and Canadian youth, all very loud and annoying. The sea was on several occasions full of human feces, after informing management about this they said it was a regular event, whenever it rains heavily!

Not bad at all just not what we expected
HONEST REVIEW!** there are things mentioned in here that I do not see mentioned as much that I would have liked to know prior to arrival 🙂 We are leaving the Riu Latino today and overall had a really good stay, but there are definitely a few things worth knowing depending on what kind of trip you’re looking for. First off, the cleanliness and service are honestly top-tier. The rooms are spotless, and the grounds are constantly being maintained. You’ll see staff cleaning all day long — even something as small as wet footprints gets mopped up right away. It really stands out! The staff overall are very friendly, and service around the pool and beach is great. You don’t feel ignored here at all. Food-wise, our opinion actually changed over the week. At the beginning, we weren’t impressed, but it did get better as we figured out what we liked. The restaurants are fine, but nothing amazing — we found ourselves going back to the buffet most of the time because it had the best variety and consistently better options. Nightlife- does seem like they focus on the RIU parties, so if there is one going on outside of the resort then the nightlife is shut down at the RIU Latino (at least on Wednesday night). Most nights though, they will trivia, karaoke and a show (notably, no Michael Jackson show). The drinks are probably the weakest part. The alcohol is clearly on the cheaper side — you don’t really recognize most of the brands at any of the bars, and you can taste it. A lot of the cocktails are overly sweet and I could not find an authentic margarita ANYWHERE. They are definitely using pre-mix and not real juice sadly. The espresso martinis were decent (even at the pool bar), but the wine is pretty harsh. If you drink red, stick with the Cabernet. I don’t usually get heartburn but I was suffering 2 nights from our last night because of the cheap booze. One thing I really want to point out because I think it’s misleading in other reviews — this is NOT a super quiet resort. There is definitely still a party vibe, especially around the pool. They also really push the shuttle to the other RIU parties. What surprised us is that we’ve stayed at quite a few RIUs before — Riu Playa Blanca Panama, Riu Santa Fe, and Riu Macao — and all of those felt MUCH quieter and more relaxed. Based on that (and other reviews), we really weren’t expecting this level of party atmosphere here. Not sure if it’s just the Cancun crowd or this specific resort, but it’s worth knowing. If you’re sensitive to scents like me: The Sports bar has this very strong perfume scent- it’s so strong that even the sandwiches taste like the scent (!!) super disappointing if you want a late night snack. Speaking of scents the toilet paper is covered in a perfumed scent as well. Not sure if this is a RIU thing but I definitely noticed it. Not sure how good that is for our bits 😂 If you’re looking for something very calm and relaxing, this might not be the right fit. That was probably the biggest downside for us. We’re 38 and 50 and were hoping for more of a laid-back vibe. For comparison, Majestic Mirage Costa Mujeres next door looked like it had a much calmer atmosphere from what we could see. And we’ve stayed at Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres before, which also felt quieter overall. A couple practical tips: • The beds are quite uncomfortable. I had read this before and it’s true. Definitely request a mattress topper through the app — it helped a lot. I was waking up with back spasms before that. • The walls are thin. We could hear our neighbours very clearly… including things you probably don’t want to hear early in the morning. • The app is actually excellent. Anything we requested (robes, extra towels, minibar refill which typically they do every other day) was handled within 30 minutes, which was impressive. One thing I didn’t really see mentioned in other reviews — the waterslides are SO fun. Honestly, fun for all ages. We ended up going on them more than expected and it was a highlight. And one final highlight — don’t miss the sunrise. It’s directly in front of the resort and absolutely stunning. Overall, we had a great time, but whether we’d return really depends on the vibe you’re after. If you want clean, social, and a bit more energy, this is a great option. If you’re after quiet and low-key, you may want to look elsewhere.

Would not return not hotels fault …
So we are hear right now since last Wednesday. The hotel is remarkably clean, best food ever, amazing and kind staff and excellent service. The only reason I’m giving this 3 stars is by no means the hotels fault but I read many reviews before booking this hotel and most everyone stated ages mostly between 30 and 60 mostly between 40 and 70 … so here we are 61 and 75 and the minute the shows start from beginning to end at around 9 pm till 11:00 the loud music is one thing but the screaming during the shows and loud people coming back to their rooms at 2-3 am screaming talking loud and slamming doors… no respect… even at 5-6 am slamming doors… ok we are early risers so nope haven’t had a decent nights sleep since we arrived. Anyway just to say we would not return to this resort. Anyone looking for a laid back vibe yes music and ambiance this is not the place for you. I wish someone would have warned me. But again not the hotels fault. This is a party hotel.

Wonderful Week in Paradise
We stayed at the Riu Latino Mar 26 - Apr 2, 2026. To put it shortly, our stay was wonderful. The food - it's great! We enjoyed everything we had & lots of options. The pools - great. We went into them all at some point but spent most of our time in or near the main pool because of all the acitivies and entertainment throughout the days. The entertainment team here truly is remarkable, they do a great job and keep everyone engaged. The evening entertainment was great as well. We didnt catch it all each night but the ones we did we really enjoyed. The resort really is as spotless as everyone says & the care staff never stop working!! Special shout out to Mike, the main pool cart bartender - always smiling, always mixed the best drinks and so very friendly. Our room was clean, and the towel art was phenomenal, best I had ever seen. Beach is massive, soft white sand. Quite a bit of seed weed while we were there but they did their best to keep it cleaned up. Can't discount them for nature. We really enjoyed Riu Latio for our entire stay.
