Excellent stay and will return
Nicolas and his team do an excellent job at the Caribe. Although hotel is a little dated (due for refurbishment in April) it is immaculate and spotlessly clean. Food of a good standard and plenty of choice. Great location and beach best in Cancun. As an ex international hotel manager was so impressed, the staff are the jewel in the Caribe's crown, pleasant, efficient and helpful. Loved this place so much we are returning later this year.

Best family vacations ever
Best size hotel for my family. Big enough to have a lot of comfortable areas to rest, to eat and to fun, and small enough to have every facility very close to every room and among them. The entretaining staf is superb, they are kind and smiling always with great attitude. Special thanks to the cleaning and reception personnel, they made our days great with briefs details that shift our vacations big time.

Beach All Day
There are a lot of bad reviews on here about Riu Caribe but the biggest thing is their staff is fantastic. Housekeeping is lovely and always friendly to pass in the hallway. We stayed on the 4th floor with our 9 month old and every day our room was kept tidy with a cute animal made of towels on the bed. Some days even fresh flower petals on the bed. Mini bar is restocked every other day but if you download the app you can request anything you need through that. The app is needing updated info such as clear times for services, etc. but still useful. There is no 24h service as advertised on Google and other review sites of this hotel. Unfortunately the bed is not that comfy, ours was a large king mattress. Both pools are clean but cold... wasn't the best for us to be honest. But again, staff serving us at the pool were amazing (Olga and Carlos, who pushes the drinks cart around all afternoon, Thank you for chilling our tequila shots!) Every day at 11:55AM they played 'Hey Baby' by DJ Ötzi at the main pool and did aqua aerobics. The entertainment staff would invite you to the daily events such as the foam party which took place on Friday at the smaller pool. They had a pizza bar open a couple days at that pool and it was OK. Food is not bad but it's their weak spot. I think they need to offer less at their main buffet (Albatross) and have 3 or 4 people making eggs on demand in the morning. Everybody wants eggs for breakfast and we would often show up and have to wait a while because the trays would be empty. The toaster was also not functioning for majority of our 7 day stay. Coming from Alberta, Canada we weren't interested in the steakhouse a la carte. The Shangri-La restaurant is a small buffet with Asian and Indian cuisine, but not a la carte. We heard that the Mexican restaurant (Maria Margarita) is a real a la carte but it was only open one night of the week so we didn't get to go there. All restaurants are first come first served. When you use the elevator the up and down arrows on the outside do not light up so I think those need maintenance as well. We loved the beach and it is by far the highlight of this resort. The drinks are strong and if you like beer we suggest drinking the cans from your minibar instead of the draft. They probably designed the hotel in the late nineties and last renovations were over 15 years ago. When you take that into consideration it is still getting a lot of traffic and seems to be retaining staff. Thank you to Alex at dinner, Antonio at breakfast in the main Albatross buffet, and Jose and Aury as well for the wonderful hospitality during our holiday. It's not 5 stars but it deserves more than 3 for sure, and again, entirely because of the hardest working staff.
