Great property but is time for renovation
The property is out dated in a huge need for renovation. Lots of rundown parts of common areas like pool, elevator and the casino near arcade lack of light. That area is for kids and is dark. The rooms are huge but furniture is falling apart. I like the extra security at elevator but it needs to be 24/7. No only at nigth hours.

Don’t stay here
We came as a part of a volleyball tournament being played at the Rio. Our room was okay but the check-in process was almost 2 hours. My family also came and their room was a non smoking room but literally smelled like someone was actively blowing smoke into the room. Not to mention the black mold growing on the floor! Their room was filthy and because they didn’t get in until late, they just slept their the first night and when requesting a new room, we’re treated horribly and refused to even look at the photos or offer a refund for the night! Also, not even an apology so if you stay here you are likely to get stuck with a similar room. If we are given a chance as a volleyball club to come back here next year, the answer will be NO based on the experience with the hotel!

Disappointing Property
When booking the rio we were excited for our couples getaway without kids. We were excited to stay at a nicer hotel for a few nights away. The hotel is lacking in basic necessities for a “4 star hotel”(according to google). We didn’t have a coffee maker in our room, wall paper was peeling off the wall in our bathroom, wall paper unevenly attached and missing drywall in the guest hallway, elevator signs broken or missing, trash cans in the guest corridors were overflowing for days without being taken out not to mention staff overall genuinely seemed to be disinterested in their jobs. This hotel is in need of serious renovations and TLC.

THE RIO IS DYING BUT ITS NOT DEAD
We stayed just one night at the RIO. The room is huge and definitely dated, but it was clean and spacious. Our room faced the PALMS and it was a nice view!! Bed was VERY COMFY, but 3 tiny pillows (not standard size pillows) just aren’t enough. No charging options next to the bed, not a huge deal - but something most hotels have these days. Didn’t like the strict check in policy. We had to wait until 3 pm to check in, otherwise a $25 fee is added to your bill. It was a very busy weekend, so the casino was busy, but most, if not all of the shops (retail) were closed. We were in the IPANEMA TOWER / not a far walk from the entrance which was a plus. Decent sports book too. The bones of this place are great! Pool was not open, but with a little $$ and some TLC this place would be great.

Rooms are unlivable, moldy, and carpets were damp and dirty. Don’t stay here.
Rio Rooms are really dirty and the entire casino is rundown. I booked two rooms that we ended up not staying in because the carpet was wet and there is mildew smell in both rooms. Room 21023 and 22023. We went downstairs to ask for a room change and the front desk representative claimed there is no more rooms available. Keep in mind the many rooms they have and it was a Thursday night. I have a hard time believing there wasn’t two rooms that they could’ve changed us into. There is a lack of care or empathy for us and for them to even try to help us.., We ended up sleeping in our cars because of that as It was 4:30 AM and none of the other hotels were able to accommodate at that time for a room. It was probably one of the worst trips I’ve had in Vegas, and that’s thanks to Rio. Staff in the front desk as well as the manager there almost didn’t give us a refund, we had to fight to get that refund. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty silly that the hotel was even second thinking of giving us a refund!!! Who would even stay in a moldy, damp room? That’s an uninhabitable environment which is a health hazard!!! When we told the front representative, she rolled her eyes at us as if we were exaggerating. I told her to go up herself to take a look, but she obviously did not. And a little touch of surprise in the room were moths flying around when we first opened the room. I will never ever stay at Rio again.
