Cheapest Marriott property around but for a reason. No consistent hot water on floor 5. The gym was disappointing as the weights were all missing. The taxi the front desk arranged didn't take credit card or provide a receipt which other hotels I've stayed at in Merida have. On the plus side, the location is walking distance to a mall (although with limited good food options) and the rooms are spacious and clean.

Doing laundry has been terrible. If the dryers work, about half the time, you have to go to the desk each time to get a token as they only have 2-3 tokens There is only coffee in the morning Breakfast is served cold or lukewarm. The eggs smell like fish. They don’t replenish dish soap. We have been staying for 2 weeks. Fire alarm went off at Midnight and nobody told us what was good on The next day they said maintenance set it off while working on it at midnight. Shuttle van is hit or miss for rides. But the staff is friendly
Great Hotel in a great location
Very new hotel and location. Excellent location off highway surrounded by excellent shopping including mall and Costco. Near excellent restaurants, amenities. Had a nice roof top pool with views to the city. Room suite was excellent, roomy, nice mattress (didn’t like the feather pillows though), kitchen was well equipped, fridge, stove top and dishwasher. Staff was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Loved the cleaning staff.
Out of the centro but so much more to offer
A week in Merida isn't enough. The Residence inn Merida is not in city center which is a good thing. The noise of "El Centro" is way over the top and this hotel's location lets you get your peace and quiet. There are good restaurants, markets, malls, museums and transportation within walking distance. Everything you need is nearby. The rooms are Marriott standard with comfortable beds, kitchen, sofa and large TVs. A great rooftop pool with lots of places to sit and get the sun. The breakfast could use a refresh as it doesn't have the variety I'd expect and it can get very busy at times. The hotel offers a reservation based shuttle service for those extra hot mornings or if you are planning to go further afield than a good walk. It has a limited schedule and booking can be a bit hit and miss but when it's available it's excellent. The top attraction at this hotel is the staff. From the friendly housekeepers wishing you a "buenos dias" as you walk down the hall. the doormen, the tireless breakfast staff and the front desk always willing to help. Special mention goes to Benjamin in the breakfast room, always smiling and cleaning up the messes some guests insist on leaving behind. Well done! We'll be back.
Comfortable & Convenient Stay
My wife and I stayed at Marriott Residence Inn for a week during a stay in Merida. We chose this location in north Merida due to its convenient proximity to nearby attractions. Next door is a modern shopping centre and also a Costco. A quick 20 km drive north is the beach in Progreso. A quick 10 minute Uber south will bring you to the historical and culture rich Centro. The reception desk staff were pleasant, helpful, and some spoke English. The hotel is clean, modern and spacious. We stayed for $50/night which was very reasonable. A free hot breakfast was included. The hotel also has free parking. Our King size room had a kitchenette and was clean and roomy. We filled our fridge with Costco water for the week. Cable tv and wi fi was included. Cleaning staff were friendly and did an excellent job when they did clean our room. Last but certainly not least, the rooftop pool was refreshing and a great opportunity to relax in the sun. Several loungers are poolside for use and we spent hours at the pool enjoying the amazing hot weather. Towels were provided at the pool. Honestly, the Marriott delivered for us. Anything we needed or expected was here during our stay. No complaints whatsoever! An excellent option if looking for an affordable stay in Merida while you explore the city.
