Disappointing from the check in to the end.
We just returned from a stay at the Marriott Downtown Quebec, QC. First the good stuff. • It is a great location just outside the walled city at the Port St. Jean. Just on the other side of the gate, there is a terrific selection of restaurants and some nice shops. • The hotel itself was recently renovated in a tasteful, modern style. Colors and furniture are attractive and welcoming. • The concierge staff is amazing. Everyone we spoke to was friendly, helpful, and interested in our making the most of our stay in the city. And the not so good: • There is no parking on site or valet parking. Guests have to use one of several public garages nearby. • At check in, the first clerk was “not logged on and could not help” me. I had to wait for the other clerk (T) to finish with another guest. When T turned to me, after 15 minutes, he could find a room for us. I left to park the car. When I came back, T told me that his supervisor had authorized a room for us. (We had reserved the room about 2 months before and had checked in remotely that morning). • The room was a handicapped room at the rear of the hotel. Our door was next to an outside door at the rear of the hotel (about 3 meters away). We never felt completely secure in the room. • The window opened directly onto a major thoroughfare. There was no privacy with the drapes open. We kept them closed making the room feel dark and dingy. • My wife and I play cards most evenings. We sat in a foyer area next to the front door. The first night we noticed food scraps on the floor under the table. The second night the scraps were still there. The third night, the same scraps were still there along with other food crumbs. Oh, the table had rings from glasses on the table top all three nights. • And the bar tender…. She was a young woman, cheerful enough ~ when she was there. Every evening when I went to the bar, she was off hanging out at the reception desk or in the office even with customers at the bar. Given the number of fine, boutique hotels in Quebec, we will go elsewhere the next time we are in Quebec even though I am a gold elite Marriott customer.

Location, location, location
Stayed two nights 5/27/23. Hotel is very clean and staff is extremely polite and welcoming. Concierge was fantastic taking our luggage to the room and giving some sightseeing advice. Hotel is elegant and very clean. Standard King Room was spotlessly clean and well appointed.. a bit on the small side but overall very nice. If you don’t choose a city view room it is possible to face the building next door so be warned. We chose a city view and the view from our room was fantastic. Best part of this hotel is its location… you can’t get any closer to sightseeing in Old Quebec. Indoor Parking is right next door and very convenient. My only complaint is the bed was made without a fitted sheet. Just a flat sheet that was too small to tuck so it came undone easily which was a bit of an annoyance to wake up on top of the mattress pad.. Between it’s location, cleanliness and professional staff I would definitely stay here again!

Great location- friendly staff
Hotel is located ideally- close to shops and restaurants of old town at St. John's gate. Staff are very accommodating, and fortunately, there are a number that speak English fluently and are willing to assist visitors. Be sure to enjoy the breakfast buffet- it is delightful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will return.

A very cozy hotel in a wonderful city
This hotel does not deceive at all. I was a guest there twice, once during a business trip and the second time as part of a family outing. I had a great experience both times. It is located on the outskirts of the old city with an easy access on foot to all entertainment areas of Old Quebec. The hotel can be accessed by car but you will have to park off hotel premises in the Youville Parking that is just 30 seconds away on foot from the hotel’s main entrance. It is not a big hotel, so don’t expect large halls but the rooms are pretty spacious. The one king bed is actually quite large and you don’t feel at all squeezed. When I stayed with the family, I had a two queen room and it was really spacious for a family with two little kids. The bathrooms are equally spacious and quite relaxing for a shower or bath. Rooms are pretty well serviced. Never had a single complaint. They were super clean and neat. The hotel has a restaurant at the lobby. It is more of a bar than an actual restaurant but the breakfast is quite generous, tasty and well served. I recommend this hotel for your stay at Quebec City. From location to service to quality of stay, this place has everything to provide you with an enjoyable stay

Great Hotel on a Great Location
This is a charming hotel in the heart of the old city. We enjoyed our stay in Quebec Coty on large part to the hotel and it’s location. And, I cannot compliment the staff enough. The Good: The rooms are comfortable and a nice size. Also, everyone we met on staff was very friendly and really helpful. Finally, you can’t beat the location in Quebec City because you are a short walk from almost everything. The Bad: There is no valet parking despite the Marriot website saying valet parking is available. However, a parking garage is not far away. The Ugly: Housekeeping does not mop the floors. In the winter, the salt from your snow or winter boots ends up on the non-carpet part of the floor. We ended up cleaning in ourselves every day. Finally, snow removal from the sidewalks seems random. The front of the hotel and steps got cleared but other sidewalks along the back and sides of the hotel were not cleared. Just be careful walking around in the winter.
