    Awesome trip

We went the week of April 25th-may2nd. It was an absolutely wonderful vacation. The resort was well kept and beautiful. The food was awesome. Each day there was something new. The fruits were always fresh and very tasty. We travelled with 3 children and they enjoyed the food. There was always something they enjoyed. The staff were incredibly friendly. The rooms are outdated but we weren’t there for the rooms. The entertainment staff were great and you could tell they enjoy doing what they’re doing. Over all we had a wonderful vacation and I would definitely recommend if looking for a budget friendly, safe, fun place to relax in the sun with your family

    A great much needed vacation

My sister and I travelled to Dominican at the end of April and stayed at the playa bachata spa resort. The weather was amazing the whole week we were there. staff was friendly and helpful, resort was clean. Entertainment crew was great! Especially Superman, a very handsome and upbeat guy. Their boss cheeky monkey was good time to. Like I said the whole crew was great. Always up for dancing and having a good time! They even put on some good old country music for the us Canadians lol On the weekends they allow locals to come into the resort and stay which was fine with us because we made friends and brushed up on our Spanish which was much needed. This resort is nice because you can have a quiet week or a fun week, it just Depends what you want. Both can be done :) A much needed vacation, and we are leaving very satisfied!

Pleasant, but uninspiring and tired. Very busy on weekends.

While clean and generally pleasant, the resort seemed “tired.” An example is the patio doors, both glass and screen, were very difficult to open as the tracks/door rollers were broken. Throughout resort there wear many signs of “wear and tear.” Pool and beach lounges were sagging and in need of repair/replacement. Main pool area was small and crowded, particularly on weekends when local families were present. (Local residents were well behaved and just families enjoying themselves). Meals in so-called a-la-carte restaurants were uninspired, as was the food generally. Pork and roast chicken offerings in buffet were delicious. On weekends the restaurants/buffet were crowded with both guest and local families but the buffet area is huge, so getting a table was possible, if a bit challenging at times. A second, less used pool in a part of resort not as occupied when we were there was delightful. While I would never say not to go to Playabachata, I would say it is my least favourite of the ten resorts we have visited in the DR. Also, this resort is an hour from airport. Previous Playa Dorada area resorts were all nicer, closer to airport and had places within walking distance from resort. Perhaps best for families looking for reasonable cost or “younger crowd” .

    You wont regret going!

PlayaBachata is a very beautiful resort filled with many beautiful people. I had an amazing time and would definitely go back soon. I only speak English but have been learning Spanish on Duolingo and the staff was very sweet and patient when communicating. The entertainment crew did a wonderful job keeping the crowd alive with their energy, especially DONKEY. All of the bartenders were very friendly. We became best friends with the bar near the pool/lobby as LIZ was always ready for our crazy orders, she is so kind. The beach was perfect, as the last time I visited DR the resort we went to had lots of rocks and seaweed so I did not go in the ocean. PlayaBachata has some water sports that are located on the beach as well, and the crew members including ALFONSO and JOSE helped us and made us feel safe in the water. My friend cannot swim and felt very comfortable knowing that these members were nearby. I really have nothing negative to say about this resort, I got bitten by some misquotes but that happens everywhere. The resort also had hot food available all night which was excellent at 2 am when you just want a burger. The pizzeria, the ice cream shop and the coffee shop were all very beneficial and yummy as well. Was sad to leave, but I am blessed to have had this experience and met these people.

    Decent place to visit

Did a 6 night through Transat vacations in mid April. Bus ride from the airport is not the greatest. Construction causes a detour through town. Takes about 1.5-2 hours to get to resort. Resort is in decent condition, and functional. Check in is very busy but the staff did a good job. Rooms weren't ready till after 3pm. Finding the room is a challenge as numbering system is funky. Multiple buildings in an area will start with 1100, but you have to walk around to find the building your room number is in. Not an ideal way to navigate. Food was pretty good. Some tummy troubles near the end of the trip. Food is somewhat repetitive but it is to be expected. We did the Italian restaurant twice. Booking is in the lobby, 9am, day of. Just line up at the customer service desk, which is closer to the travel rep desks, not the lobby desk. Italian was good the first time, not as good the second time, overall decent. Steak house was always packed! Bars are busy, but the staff did a good job keeping things going. Drinks are good. Not too strong. Tips are appreciated, but not necessary. Guest patience is though. Grounds were well kept. We liked the pool to the east. It was quieter and not as busy. Easy to find chairs. Beach was pretty good. Rocky in some spots. Waves come from all angles, so be careful of undertow and rip tides. Night entertainment was mini disco at 8pm. Fun for the kids but repetitive. Shows at night were unbearably loud. Way too much volume. Service overall was good. A few exceptions. Tipping isn't required to get service. Unfortunately we did see some over entitled guests treating staff as if they were scum. The guests really make a difference at this resort. The 1 thing that really made our trip not so good was the weekend. Friday at noon till about Sunday at 3pm, the locals come to stay. What a change, for the worse. The resort triples in capacity, the bars are over run, everything is a mess. The locals are pushy, cut in the food lines. We did as much as we could to avoid everything on the weekend due to this. Overall, this resort was good value and we would visit again. Maybe just a 4 day during the week trip, unless they stop catering to the local visitors.
