DECEPTIVE BAIT-AND-SWITCH: Porta-Potties, No Spa, and Staff Directing Guests Through marked DANGER Zones.
DECEPTIVE BAIT-AND-SWITCH: Porta-Potties, No Spa, and Staff Directing Guests Through marked DANGER Zones. DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY. My family and I booked the "Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort & Spa" expecting the 4-star experience advertised on their website and Expedia. What we were delivered is a hazardous, poorly maintained construction site that fails every basic standard of hospitality, sanitation, and safety. 1. The "Bait and Switch" (Missing Amenities) The hotel explicitly markets a "Hawaiian Rainforest Spa" and an on-site playground. They do not exist. There is no spa facility, and the "playground" is a public park miles away. To continue charging a premium "Resort Fee" while these core facilities are decommissioned is a total misrepresentation of the product. There is also no gym, no business centre, room service or daily room cleaning. 2. Sanitation & Arrival Horror The "Grand Lobby" is a series of plywood tunnels. The most shocking part? The hotel is utilizing outdoor porta-potties as guest restrooms for the check-in and lobby area. For a 4-star property to provide plastic temporary toilets instead of functional indoor plumbing is a gross failure of sanitation and basic dignity for guests. 3. SAFETY NIGHTMARE: Directed Through "DANGER" Zones Because the main guest elevators are non-functional (neglect, not renovations), guest access is a labyrinth. We were first forced into a freight/service elevator detour. Shockingly, hotel staff then recommended a 'shortcut' behind the building to avoid the elevator. I have included photos of this At night, this path is unlit and hazardous. Expecting paying guests, including families, to navigate an unlit, marked danger zone because basic resort infrastructure is broken is unconscionable. 4. Dishonest Disclosures & Disrepair Their fine print claims renovation work happens only on "weekdays." I am writing this on a Saturday, while active construction noise blasts through the property. When confronted, management admitted that work is ongoing through the weekend, directly contradicting their own booking disclosures. Furthermore, the property is in disrepair with flooded corridors, broken doors, and out-of-order ice machines. 5. Bad-Faith Management When we requested a resolution, the hotel attempted a "trap" by offering a refund only if we checked out by 11:00 AM, but they didn't communicate this offer to us until 2:45 PM. This kind of deceptive, bad-faith negotiation proves they are more interested in avoiding responsibility than caring for their guests. Summary: This property is an undisclosed construction site that utilizes porta-potties and directs guests through dangerous service corridors. Save your family’s vacation—book the Marriott or Grand Hyatt instead. This is a hazardous construction zone masquerading as a resort.

Fricking horrible
If I could leave 0 stars i would. This is the first time I've ever left a review on anything? But this place is so horrible. They won't even give you toilet paper, because I didn't book through them. The place is dirty. It's full of gnats. The beach has glass all over it and their prices are outrageous. They charge $40 to park a car and $40 for fresh linens....

Nice grounds, unbearable pool pump noise
This is our 4th year here, we really like this place BUT the large pool pump by building 3 has been getting louder each year. The bearings are clearly shot and need to be replaced. The noise is now unbearable and can be heard throughout the main pool area and within the rooms. I measured it at 80 dB. If the bearings cost too much to replace, at least enclose the pool utility shack. Maybe management has just become used to the noise and doesn’t realize it sounds like a freeway. Nice grounds, unbearable noise. This will be our last time here.
