Wedding at Melia
Had our wedding at the Melia, our coordinator Jair Tolentino was amazing! He was so helpful and made our wedding day a great experience. He definitely went the extra mile. The rest of the hotel is nice, food was a bit repetitive but had some nice meals. Hotel is in a great location just across from the marina and just a short cab ride from melicon.
It was a good experience
My husband, son and granddaughter arrived at the Melia All-Inclusive Resort on Sunday, January 15 - 22, 2023 through Westjet Vacations. Our biggest disappointment was the wait in the van at the airport. We waited well over 45 minutes before departing to go to the resort and was never provided a reason. However, once we arrived, check-in at the resort was quick, easy and welcoming. Our rooms were a good size, wi-fi is free and thank god the mini fridge was stocked with water, soda and beer, as were were thirsty. We appreciated the hotel's thoughtfulness of putting my son's room right next door so we could be close to each other. The rooms could use an upgrade as certain things are starting to look worn from regular wear and tear but the water pressure at the resort is awesome and there are room safes. The staff at the resort are lovely. From housekeeping, to the bar service, to the waiters at the restaurants. They have two specialty restaurants, Mexican and Italian. The Italian restaurant was awesome but honestly, the Mexican restaurant food is nothing you couldn't get from the regular buffet. The beach area is where we spent most of our time as it is ridiculous the effort people make in the wee hours of the morning to put towels on top of loungers around the pool to ensure they get one. They even take the sit down chairs along with the loungers with no consideration for anyone else. There is a sign that states pool staff will remove people's belongings if they hoard chairs but I can ensure you that is NOT enforced. We went into Puerta Vallarta a couple of times by taxi to get away and enjoy the Malecon and shopping. With the location of Melia, it will cost anywhere from 120 - 150 pesos. The food at the buffet has a constant theme, with a bit of variation, however it does get repetitive. It was disappointing that the last three days of our stay, there was no bacon and they are slow to replenish. Overall, there is plenty to eat but keeping food hot is an issue. There wasn't much for evening entertainment for adults but the hotel did throw a Mexican Fiesta on our last night with a mariachi band which was great. To sum it up, it was a good experience but I probably wouldn't stay there again.
Beautiful Hotel Amazing Entertainment
First reaction to room, but it gets better really fast! When we first arrived in our room, we were actually very disappointed. Good view, but old room and lacking lots, maintenance needed. The room can make such a difference. HOWEVER, the staff arranged for us to move to another room and it was terrific. The first room had a higher view, but we just couldn't see ourselves happy in it for two weeks and of course, like others, we planned and spent a lot on this holiday. Anyway, better room, better outlook on everything. The property is AMAZING! What it lacks in multiple restaurants, that being said the food is terrific, they make up for in entertainment! Just check it all out!! Amazing talent!!! I just can't say enough about it! High praise. Each night, there's a little show program that engages the children from about 8:45-9:10. Then the show starts at 9:15. Activities at the pool, if you are interested. If not, just enjoy. The staff is lovely. Not as many speak English, but enough do. It's always nice to have a few Spanish basics yourself. My husband is celiac and I will say there was lots of great food for him; however, not GF cereal, bread options or desserts, other than ice cream -which after two weeks becomes redundant. Albeit, there's nothing like real Mexican vanilla ice cream! (If it is something they consider looking into, please note actual celiacs, not just GF by choice, must have bread, special toaster and dessert separated from other bread, toaster and dessert to avoid cross contamination. Cross contamination is very real for actual celiacs.) When my husband asked the chef for a meal one evening when there was nothing at the buffet he could have, she cheerfully made him a special dish. He still ate well, despite food concerns.. The numerous staff are very helpful, smiling and I just loved the atmosphere they create together. I know it's MASSIVE work and my hats off to all the management and staff. Special thank you to Charlie for activities, as well as all the entertainment!️
Enjoying the sun.
This hotel is very dated. The beach was great. The food was average and the staff was just absolutely amazing. If I was ever to return to this resort, It would be because of the staff. The location is pretty good with the marina just across the road. Lots of options for food.
Service was good all around, grounds were kept nice and maintained. Pool does not have near enough seating, having to wake up before 7 am to even get a decent spot with access to shade throughout the day. Also very limited cocktail variety and supply at pool bar. Good location to be able to walk to great restaurants, which you will definitely want to do as the resort food is bare minimum. Rooms are very comparable to that of an older motel. Booked a single king room ending up in a two twin room for two weeks with no couch or working cable. Honestly would not advise doing an all inclusive stay here, the food and drink is not worth the extra. We used it as a hotel more than a resort spending the majority of our time off site for day to day outings and for most meals adding a large increase to our trips overall budget.
