Loved this resort and the amenities that come with it. The concierge team was always available and catered to me and my family with great hospitality. The areas was beautiful and the beach area well kept. They had nice shows most nights and a variety of foods to choose from. The drinks were always delicious and the spa was amazing! Some areas of improvement: some of the dinner and the deserts were bland. It would also be nice to have had a jacuzzi.

Oct 12, 2026Great Family Resort, But Customer Service After Declining a Sales Pitch Was Disappointing
My family of five stayed at Melia Casa Maya Cancun in October 2026. Overall, the property is relatively small compared to many Cancun resorts, but it has everything you need for a family vacation. The resort is clean, easy to navigate, and the staff throughout the hotel were generally friendly and welcoming. One of the biggest highlights was the activities for children. Our kids had a great time, and there was always something fun for families to do. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the beachfront location was beautiful. That said, there were a few significant issues that impacted our experience. The food was average and not particularly memorable. More importantly, the air conditioning in our room never worked properly during our entire stay. Despite reporting the issue, it was never fully resolved, and several nights of poor sleep significantly affected our vacation. Had the A/C issue been addressed, I likely would have given the resort a higher rating. The most disappointing part of our stay involved a vacation club sales experience. As existing Melia Vacation Club members, we were invited to what was presented as a 30-minute informational meeting. It ultimately lasted about 90 minutes. The representative, Matthew, was initially friendly and engaging while discussing a new vacation package. However, after we politely declined the offer, the interaction changed dramatically. Through WhatsApp messages afterward, the conversation became unprofessional and, at times, hostile. Rather than respectfully accepting our decision, Matthew continued to pressure us and ultimately sent a message stating, "I hope your clients from your job treat you the same way you did to me sir!" This was surprising and unacceptable, especially for paying guests and existing club members who simply chose not to purchase an additional product that would cost us $27K. It's unfortunate because the actions of one individual overshadowed many of the positive aspects of the resort. The hotel itself has a lot of family-friendly qualities, and most staff members were excellent. However, the unresolved A/C issue combined with the negative experience surrounding the sales presentation left us disappointed. I hope management reviews how vacation club presentations are conducted and ensures guests are treated respectfully, regardless of whether they decide to purchase additional memberships.
