    Would be good if maintained

Hotel is old and not well Maintained. Pools leave you feeling unclean. Food is really not good and it’s extremely difficult and time consuming to get reservations at the speciality restaurants. At the main buffet it is almost impossible to get a drink or a clean table. Rooms are not cleaned properly (looked like mice droppings behind my bedside table and shower was moldy). Our ceiling started leaking badly one night and we needed maintenance to come. We also were told at check in that only twin bed rooms were available despite us upgrading to a Level room at booking- this is unacceptable for a hotel in a major honeymoon destination. Property is very large and inaccessible if you have any mobility issues. They don’t advertise that the beach is a fifteen minute walk from many of the hotel rooms. We checked out early and switched hotels because we were not enjoying our vacation and preferred losing money versus staying at this hotel. They also bother you repetitively to go to a sales pitch (so much so that we were tracked down while walking to the beach by a staff member requesting we go to the pitch even after we ignored their first request). It is not how anyone wants to spend their vacation. Our second hotel was infinitely better and was the same price per night. Would not recommend this hotel. Will say the bar tenders were all great.

    Meliá caribe beach resort

Our recent stay at Meliá Caribe Beach Resort, specifically within The Level, was truly one to remember. We live in California and travel frequently. As a family that has visited many high-end resorts around the world, I can say with confidence that this experience far exceeded our expectations. From the beautiful accommodations to the meticulously kept gardens and the unbelievable customer service, we were thoroughly impressed. I am writing specifically to recognize two individuals who made our stay significantly more wonderful. We enjoyed many dinners and every single breakfast at the Riviera Restaurant. We fell in love with this venue for its culinary diversity, elegant atmosphere, and consistently delicious meals. However, above all else, it was the top-notch staff that made the difference. The attention to detail, the kind loving staff, and the first class service was what made this restaurant more than just a culinary experience. In particular, Maria De La Cruz and Ramon Guerrero went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Their attention to detail, attentiveness, and first-class customer service were remarkable. Their work ethic is truly admirable, and they are shining examples of the standard this resort should strive for. Their work ethic is admirablie, and they are exemplary staff members whom others should follow. Maria and Ramon are very special individuals. Their kindness and hospitality were like nothing we have experienced before; they remembered our names, our preferred seating, and made every meal feel extra special for our family. It is these small but significant details that create a beautiful resort stay and build brand loyalty. These small but significant details are what create a beautiful resort experience and a returning customer. We will definitely be returning to Meliá Caribe Beach, largely because of the impact staff members like Maria and Ramon had on our vacation. A resort is fortunate to have employees who are as hard-working, honest, and reliable as these two. Throughout our many travels, we have seen it all, and these two individuals stood out as essential assets to this company. I would highly recommend this resort and cannot say enough good about the Riviera restaurant and its amazing staff. You will not be disappointed with this resort and will return due to its hospitality and first class service experienced through its exceptional staff. You will not visit another resort after your stay at Meliá Caribe Punta Cana. The staff is a huge reason, we will be returning to this resort as our annual vacation destination. Sincerely, Hannah Harrison Date of stay 2/17/2026-2/28/2026

Beautiful beach, nice property and overall good value

Contrary to some previous reviews, the beach is beautiful, very long and well maintained with a john deer tractor removing the seaweed and combing the beach each morning. Property is huge, with lots of green space and overall well maintained. It is an older resort and some areas are in need of TLC. Our room was a good size, clean, AC fine with good maid service, bur quite frankly other than sleeping did not spend much time in room. Our room was close to the beach so we used the Bazaar buffet primarily for breakfast and lunch and my husband and I plus two friends could always find something good for breakfast i.e., could order eggs or omelets the way you wanted, lots of fruit, etc. with café lattes, cappuccinos etc. less choice for tea and I am a tea drinker, but did have a few lattes. Lunch also had lots of choice and sometimes I just made a sandwich. We booked three a la carte restaurants 1) the Streak Grill first night ordered the steak which had good flavor but was not a great cut of meat. But it was nice to eat and be served and we ordered a bottle of red wine and stayed away from house red and made spritzers with the white wine which was fine during the day. 2. The Dominican Restaurant was great fun and it was interesting to try the food combinations and the staff was super friendly. Food was tasty. 3. The Italian restaurant had the best food overall. The calamari were excellent as was the tiramisu, our friends had the Bolognese as it was recommended by a guest we met and they loved it, my husband and I tried the squid ink pasta with shrimp and it was very good. We also had four nights at the main Buffet which was great as you could go when you felt like it and again always found something that looked and tasted good including a braised lamb shank the last night which was yummy. With respect to the food there were definitely things that would not appeal to me but I assume it is very difficult to please everyone all the time and there was certainly enough variety, With respect to drinks I am not a big cocktail fan but did try the Pina coladas and Mojitos which were fine, made my spritzers and minimized the beer not because it was bad but because my preferences is craft beer. So spending the additional money to enjoy a nice bottle of wine with dinner was worth it and the available drink selection was fine for hanging out at the beach. Overall good value and had a great time.

    Staff - rude, abrupt,

Just return from a 2 week stay and have some ups and some very downs, RECEPTION—is a wow, absolutely beautiful setting. with bars, games room , casino and much more. GROUNDS -, again beautiful setting and very big with palms, lakes and wildlife and well kept. BEACHES-Absolutely amazing white sand warm sea beautiful sunset with beach bar and food and snacks bar There is some seaweed but all depends on how rough the see is , but nothing to bother about. ROOMS- are okay nothing special but depends on what you book We had a double room Great location ,quiet, clean with all you need . FOOD- - 2 buffet restaurants in the morning for breakfast and afternoon for lunch One near beach /pool and main one at reception area which is the main one. Main one at evening is so so busy with long queues to get in and absolute chaos when inside with not enough staff to cope. So we had late lunch and avoiding the chaos at dinner. NOW THE DOWNS !!!! ENTERTAINMENT- in evenings is not the best and could be a lot better as very repetitive with children disco, then karaoke And disco till 1am , in the main lobby bar, Also the seating in the main lobby bar is hard to find Unless you’re in early. Amphitheatre seating is like being at a school play all lined up. once you’re in your in, but some shows are good . Shops- there is none only 2 gift shops Unless you walk out for 15mins down the road , which you don’t want to do Believe me !!!!!! So stock up Staff- are absolutely shocking, rude, unhelpful, and very abrupt, only a very few are okay!! And that’s being generous Service is very and I mean very slow like they just don’t want to know. Tips are expected by staff and if you don’t - then you will get overlooked and the service will be worse than it already is. This lets the hotel down massively We threw dollars after dollars at them but to be honest didn’t seem to make much of a difference as they didn’t seem appreciative. Even to stock your fridge up daily they expect tipping if not they will leave it empty, even the garden asking for dollars!!! Which to be honest deserved it the most. Pool , all sunbeds are gone by 8-00 even on the beach Towels start going on the pool beds at 5-30am !!! and 6am at the beach Staff and service is an absolute nightmare at this hotel not just our option but by a lot of others there. This lets a beautiful hotel down . We Would not be returning due to the service and there are a lot nicer destinations for your money. If you want respect and great service on your holiday then this hotel is not for you.
