Keeping up standard expected in Marriotts
We often stay for a few nights in Marriott timeshares rather than Hotels.. This is one of their best in terms of "apartment size". Great location. Maintenance is good but please on next makeover drop the cool 1960 look!! WE had outstanding views over mountains for our balcony.

Great for families - something for everyone!
Well - we've been owners for almost 14 years now and every visit is just a dream. To address some of the reviews below, this is a timeshare facility as well as hotel, so no amenities like room service or daily housekeeping. More like the best of an AirBnB with huge benefits and none of the guesswork! All one bedroom units have a fully stocked kitchen and there are great grill areas throughout the grounds to BBQ. Lots of grocery stores nearby so we take advantage and stock up at the beginning. There are a few snack bars on site, but for a night out, Palm Desert and Palm Springs have plenty of great options. The grounds themselves are really beautiful - so many great little areas to explore! We don't golf, so can't speak to the courses, other than the fact that they are pretty to look at. For us, it's the pool areas and the add-ons. There's a great full gym at the main building (including Saunas), but we use the cute little Gym right at the Enclaves area. Pools are - well - spectacular. Main pool in the Enclaves area was down for our visit (well - not heated and VERY cold). That would have been really disappointing if we were travelling with kids as it's a great pool with a beach entry. That being said, it was a little chilly while we were there (January) and not many people were actually using the pool, so the other one (right next to it) worked out fine. The main pool area was gorgeous as usual and the third, kind of secret, "Quiet" pool (always about 5 degrees warmer than the others) was great. Hot tubs at each pool area. The daily activities are great - we did the (free) morning Yoga every weekday, but there were multiple other fitness classes/nature walks/craft activities available. Sometimes there's a small fee for the crafts for materials. Tennis and Pickleball courts are great and there's a couple of fun mini-golf areas and some basketball mini-courts as well. Bike/Raquet rentals on site and very reasonable. There's usually a combination of seniors and families staying there and we have always found it a pretty friendly crew! I would say it's a great options for families - something for kids of all ages. My son learned to swim here and even though he's a big surly teenager now he still makes sure to say "hi" to the turtle statues he used to climb on as a little kid. For us, it's an ideal family holiday that gets better every time.

Delightful vacation property
Shadow Ridge - the Enclaves is a lovely Marriott vacation club property. Extremely well maintained, with friendly staff. The grounds are extensive, with lots of opportunity for walking as well as many different kinds of outdoor recreational activities. The pool area in the Enclaves is called Snakebites, and has two pools, a children’s pool/play area, a hot tub and a poolside restaurant. There are other pools and restaurants on the property that are also available even if you stay in the Enclaves area. Mountain views are abundant. Restaurants, groceries, gas stations, shopping are all nearby as the property is centrally located between Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage and other towns. Nearby parks offer hiking. And Palm Springs has some delightful mid century modern neighborhoods. Joshua Tree National Park is less than 45 minutes away, and the PS Aerial Tram is nearby too.

Its a Holliday Inn Express without free breakfast
No housekeeping no bar after 5 or 6 and for anything in the early evening you have to go to the pool. Resort restaurant is closed so to get food need to eat from pool or drive away. Property is good, staff at snakebite pool very nice. Overall in truth this is a property that bills itself as a tier one resort but its really a Holliday Inn express without the free breakfast.

Local Public Pool?
If you are looking for an adult vacation stay this is not your place. If you are looking for a "family" vacation stay this is not your destination. If you are looking for a vacation that includes burned out staff, visiting beer bellied "locals" at the pool at night (some sketchy..most just drunk local partying parents and unsupervised kids..this is your place! ('Pool visitors' are more present on the weekends..they are probably getting in free. No pool security at night and the main gates to the resort are kept open.) It is sad because there was a lot of litter and garbage just left at the pool at night. Mostly empty beer cans and cups that were brought into the pool area. A lot of guests were parked on the street instead of the parking lot. Someone had a car towed and used the curb for a garbage can the weekend that we stayed. I feel bad for the timeshare owners. How hard is it to walk to the many garbage cans placed throughout the resort? I can only guess...this was a local who was 'visiting' for the weekend for free/discounted price. Not sure if this resort honors day passes for the pool but a lot of resorts in the area do.
