Five Star Experience - Don’t Hesitate!

This is our fourteenth stay in twelve years and was one of our best experiences yet (we are NOT vacation club owners). This is a long review so we’ll lead with the summary: if you’re looking for a wonderfully appointed suite on a beautifully manicured, centrally located resort property look no further. Whether you’re traveling alone for professional or personal reasons or as a family this property will exceed your every expectation. Hotel suites; We reserved a two bedroom/two bathroom and one bedroom suite to accommodate our family and grandparents this visit which were situation in the West Village with a stunning view of the golf course and a water feature. The suites are extremely well designed with an excellently appointed kitchen with breakfast bar-top seating, full size dining table, family room with conversation style seating and pull out sofa bed, generously sized bedrooms and a master bathroom with luxurious updated shower. The screened-in balconies offer even more space to these massive suites. There is ample secure parking. Truly, these suites should be offered at 40-60% higher rate given all that is included onsite. Cleaning: Our room was cleaned every other day during our stay. We were extremely pleased with this service and felt the staff went above and beyond to refresh the suite. Resort grounds: The property is beautifully manicured from the moment you enter from the main road to the door of your villa. Groundskeeping staff are friendly and clearly take pride in their work. The exterior of these buildings looks as though they were built within the last year or two; they are extremely well maintained. Paddle boat and fishing rentals are available in addition to the golf amenities. An indoor gym and child gym are onsite as well (although the former was closed for renovation during our recent stay unfortunately). Several restaurants are available in addition to a marketplace. Pools: There are several pools; two large pools each with their own restaurant and bar and spas; one hosts a wonderful shallow pool for infants/young toddlers while another has a fabulous splash pad for toddlers and older children. Both pools are massive and are in addition to several others on property, one of which is designated as “adult only”. Pool towels are readily available for check out with your room key. While in the past we, too, have experienced issues with individuals saving pool loungers very early in the morning this was NOT AN ISSUE AT ALL this stay; staff appeared to be sentinels monitoring the use of loungers. My family of four was able to secure four loungers in the front row of the main pool with an umbrella at 10:15 am without any issues (and over 50% of the loungers remained available despite the resort being very busy at that time as well). This was a major issue for us in the past; we are extremely grateful it has been resolved. Activities: Several activities are hosted by the recreation team daily, many with outside professionals including dueling pianos and animal encounters. Poolside activities include trivia and bingo. Location: GV is central to all of the major attractions, particularly Sea World, Discovery Cove and Vineland Outlets and only minutes away from Disney attractions and the entertainment/restaurant hub on International Drive. Grocery stores, pharmacy, restaurants, etc are all just a few minutes away as well but while on the resort you’ll feel a million miles away (but in a very good way). Service: Our onsite check in experience was efficient and our suite was ready when expected. Unfortunately, we had to lodge a noise complaint when our neighbors were much too loud after midnight one evening. The front desk was responsive and security responded. The following morning, a member of the staff called us to ensure that the issue was resolved. We have never experienced this issue previously and appreciate that the GV was helpful in resolving this issue so that guests could sleep. The next day follow up is yet another example of how the staff tends to go above and beyond for their guests. We did not have a positive experience working with Genesis as part of pre-arrival; she was repeatedly extremely unprofessional and demonstrated numerous characteristics we’ve come to find inconsistent with both the Marriott and GB brand.

Top 3 Grande Vista Golf School Observations

My wife and I completely disagree on this one. We attended for family golf school. It was certainly budget oriented and we had a good time. Nothing was "nice" but the location was good and although run down, the golf instruction was good. Here are top 3 observations: 1. Good golf instruction, boring course - the 9 hole course is more like a family par 3. Good for beginners but then there is water so you lose balls. Bad for beginners. Boring for non beginners. 2. Facilities are tired - the pools, the gym and the rooms are all average at best. 3. Location - nice location. My wife thinks of you're going to be golfing or in parks all day then this room with kitchenette is perfect. For me... Not so much.

    Great stay always!

I’ve stayed here the last 4 years for cheer competitions in the area. After reading some recent negative reviews I was worried this time. It may have been the best stay yet! Super clean, staff was amazing, lots of activities…couldn’t find a complaint if I wanted to!

    Disappointing communication between departments.

A disappointing stay. The resort is nice, the grounds well kept. The communication between front desk, pre arrivals team, room controllers and housekeeping is awful. We had 5 reservations in toal for a 1 and 3 bed villa. When we arrived, i put my credit card on file for all 5 reservations. On 3 occassions after that, the frint desk told me that they fid not have a card on file for our rooms. Housekeeping turned up to do a tidy service, which hadn't been booked. Front desk told me the room had an every other day tidy booked by the tour operator, but it was an MVC stay. Then the inbetween stay housekeeping turned up on the wrong day for the 1 bed and dudn't turn up at all for the bed. Housekeeping where knocking on the door of the studio portion of the 3 bed at 9am one morning, telling us, we had checked out. This was 4 days before our real checkout. We asked for the 2 villas to be in the same section of the resort, not even same building, just general area, but on the day we were due to check in to the 3 bed, they told us it was on the opposite side of the lake as about as far away as possible. They then moved the 1 bed to be closer. We had to go to the airport to pick up our family flying in from the UK and didn't have time to empty our previous room. Front desk told us, no problem, we could finish moving out when we got back. On artival back from the airport, cleaners were in the room. Our last bag was in the outside corridor and a $200 + food shop from the previous day was gone from the refigerator. Anything opened was in the garbage, including our storage containers bought from home. The unopened groceries were on the cleaners cart. After a 9 hour flight, our family waited in our villa for the 3 bed villa. At 6.30pm we asked when it would be ready and told us possibly by 8pm. They then found another 3 bed in a different building. The resort doesn't have enough pools for the resort size. Although there were signs about not saving sunbeds, it was not being enforced. The pools arexa bit boring except the castle area. It could do with a slide and a lazy river.

Culture is good throughout. The Grill was great.

We ate at The Grill. The food was great. The ambience was nice The staff were very helpful. It’s nice to go to a restaurant inside the complex you are staying at and really enjoy the food and pay a fair price. It’s always a good reflection on the management that they value giving good service in every way.
