Great long stay location in Panama
After having stayed some 30 days here, I can tell you without hesitation, that the staff and management are tops in my book. Due to the protest of the Mine, my tour of Panama was cut short as there was no transportation to and from the outer cities i.e. Bocas et al. The staff made my stay as enjoyable as possible under the circumstances. They were high spirited, well mannered, and some of the most helpful of host. I can't say enough about: Dwayne; Daniel; Emma; Victor, Alberto, Dioris (manager), Raul and Matallana (I'm sure I spelled her name wrong) to name a few. Although the building could use some upgrades - a hint of swamp gas from the bathrooms, and perhaps some bright paint colors so the rooms don't feel so drab, I have no complaints. From the pool to the gym, dining room and bar, the water was clean, the food was hot and delicious, and the drinks were reasonably priced. Bravo.

Nice stay, but not near much
I stayed in the 1 bedroom apartment and it was a beautiful, large apartment with a large comfy couch, work space, dinette and kitchen with fridge and microwave. The suite was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The separate bedroom had a king sized bed that was fairly comfortable with crisp white bedding. The bathroom was somewhat large, elegant, and well-appointed. The shower spray was good and the hot water plentiful. The lobby, café, and pool areas were very nice. I did not eat here, so I can't comment on the food. The A/C and Wi-Fi both worked well. The staff members were pleasant, and I was allowed to check in a little early when my room became available, which was appreciated after a long, hot journey. The hotel is about a 4 min walk to the Iglesia Carmen and the Carmen subway station. CONS: This hotel is in the middle of the city, and really isn't close to much of anything. It's a good 30-40 min drive away from the airport (in traffic) and about 20-30min away from Casco Viejo, the Albrook Mall, bus terminal, canal. etc. The hot, crowded metro lines don't quite reach most tourist sites, and must usually be combined with at least one bus ride. Uber is readily available in Panamá if you don't mind paying rates that are similar to the US. It was also a little tricky for taxi and Uber drivers to find it as it was tucked away behind the businesses lining the main highway through the city. I thought this hotel was a bit expensive, but I used travel points to book the room, so I didn't feel the sting of the bill. It was a very comfortable room, but if I return to Panama, I would rather stay in Casco Viejo near the restaurants and squares.

Basic hotel management failure
Avoid- showed up with a family of 6- they said my room (a suite i booked for my family) was occupied by some guy who wouldnt be leaving for a while! I called, texted many times in advance, asked if all was good and ready, they said no problem- showed up with screaming kids, exhausted and their answer to not having my room was to offer me a free orange juice= so i had to split my kids up and stay in some crap hole they put us in- got the hell out the next day- the rooms are depressing and its basically a dump- steer clear if possible

Renovations Needed
The staff is wonderful and very friendly. The hotel is also located in a great location but needs lots of improvements. As a Bonvoy member I have come to expect much more from a Marriott property. The furniture in the apartment was spotted and run down, the draws in the closet were off track so we couldn't put cloths in the drawers, and the dresser area hadn't been dusted in a while. There also was no safe in the apartment to lock up vulnerable items and documents. We stayed 7 night, and housekeeping was on our floor everyday but never changed our sheets. We had to ask several times for clean towels and washcloths. If they renovate the hotel it will be an ideal place to stay.

Enjoyed out stay!
After coming off a cruise ship, the room seemed enormous wish a nice living area/ desk/work area, beds and a separate kitchen area. It was absolutely perfect for our first time visiting Panama city - good location - easy walking distance to supermarket/ subway or to the waterfront. Great front desk staff too - very friendly and helpful. The pool/gym/suana were really nice, but it does get hot without shade at the pool in the afternoon. Take a room with complimentary breakfast as it's well worth it and has a great selection of both cold and hot foods.
