We stayed for 5 day in January during a sold out week. It was a very enjoyable stay at this beautiful resort. We stayed on the club side and really liked the coffee espresso machine in the lounge. Our butler was Luis and he did a great job. He personally checked on us each day and helped with any issues we had/needed. The food was ok. Japanese was the best. We were unable to get a reservation at the french restaurant. Our least favorite was the mexican restaurant. Service was slow but food good at the steakhouse and seafood restaurant. The main buffet food is better than the beach food buffet for lunch. I would definitely visit again and stay here! Only issue we had - minor - was Angel at the club side towel service. He made each of us go in person to get a beach towel (rather then letting my husband get my towel) and actually laughed at my husband's frustration. We were told he had to go for training and I hope this was truly the case as his customer service was lacking.
Thank you Minerva, Club Beach Bar
Overall our 7 day stay mid Jan, was great. I was so glad I did not get any bug bites! The wind on the beach was always present but that is very often the case inPunta Cana. I wanted to write this short review only to mention the consistent, above standard service and quality drinks prepared by Minerva at the Club Beach Bar. Thank you.
Just back from Majestic Colonial
I will be succinct and from the perspective of a family. This is a very loud place. If you have a room anywhere facing the pool that is on the family side (adult side on right family on left, with the main walk way separating the two sides) you will have very loud music with bass until midnight. If you have a room anywhere on the ground floor near the supreme restaurant you will have exceptional noise, room numbers like #1103, with techno music and loud people until at least 12 am. If you are a family request to have a room around room # 1330 which is your best option. Beach is beautiful and food is ok. Staff are friendly and it’s a nice place. I sincerely think this place is a little over rated.
Compact resort that feels a bit like a cruise ship on land
I selected Majestic Colonial for it's pool, size, and cost in relation to the other Majestic resorts. the resort is pretty compact and easy to get around and it is covered between the main building (lobby, main buffet, a few restaurants, and the entertainment space) which is good when it is raining. We had a swim out room in the family section and we did use the outdoor jacuzzi a lot. The rooms are spacious but really dated - so much pink marble from the late 1990s/early 2000s malls. Some of the cabinetry was broken but overall it was fine and functional. The bed was huge and comfortable. The toilet room was very small (I'm tall and my knees nearly hit the door when closed) so if you have any accessibility issues at all, request an accessible room. I thought the entertainment was good - different shows/events every night for about 45 minutes, live music on the patio every night, disco nightly, and twice weekly foam parties in both the family and adult only section. The circus show was the best night in my opinion. The beach was nice but narrower than other resorts and there is a lot of coral and rocks in the water (I cut my foot) so we went a little ways down the beach to swim in front of one of the other Majestic resorts. They do not have a lot of water activity equipment (snorkel, kayak, sailboats, etc.) so they limit usage to an hour at a time, which is kind of a pain but worked out ok. There are plenty of fish to see just off shore around the coral. We never had a problem getting lounge chairs although we always went to the beach after 2 pm. We had messages at the spa. They were decent, no complaints. The water circuit in the spa after the message was a lot of fun. Kind of processing you through each step (each activity was timed) but it was refreshing. For food, if you like steak and potatoes and shellfish, you will definitely get your fill here. The buffets provide a lot of options so you can keep your meals varied if you go to the buffet. I found the restaurants more limited. I also found it to be a bit inconsistent in service and food prep. We mostly went to the steakhouse for dinner (I cannot eat fish/shellfish) and between myself and my friend we got the same dish five times and each time it was slightly different. Nothing was ever bad but we'd ask for steak medium and it was hit or miss as to whether it came medium, rare, or well done. The restaurant options also become quite limited after several days (the other Majestic resorts have much more extensive menus). The all-inclusive liquor options were good - a lot of domestics but also Johnny Walker (black and red), Absolut, Stoli, Bombay, Dewars, etc. Basically a full bar with a lot of brand and top shelf names. Beer was more limited, Presidente, Heineken (at two bars), etc. The bars in the sports lounge and disco are accessible to all three resorts so I guess they have to keep the liquor mostly the same. We walked around the different resorts and had friends staying at Elegance (middle one) and there is definitely a huge difference in what you get between the resorts - primarily in the restaurant and room offerings (their room was twice the size of ours but no outdoor jacuzzi). Personally, I don't think that the Colonial Club upgrade would be worth it, not for the price. You get dedicated pools and a bar and the French restaurant is available for breakfast and lunch, but other than no children, I didn't see too much of a difference. (they did get the room key bracelets instead of a key card which is nice) Overall my biggest compliant was the noise, at least for our room. We were on the ground floor (swim up) at the end closest to the lobby and people always seemed to congregate outside our door for loud lengthy and inane conversations. So, the music was loud until 11 pm (fine since we are night owls) but people holding conversations in the hallways woke us up early. It was $30 to and from the airport if you went through a taxi you ordered and $40 each way if you order through the resort. Except for walking down the beach (which is a must), you need to take a taxi to get off the resort. We did not use the golf course or casino (which was small compared to others I've seen). As an observation, this resort seemed to attract a lot of intergenerational families (children to grandparents) and more traditional North American food eaters (steak, hamburger, pizza, etc.).
Cruz (bartender @ Piano bar)
Cruz gave us the best education of Manajuana and made our visit so special. We LOVED our time talking with and learning from Cruz! What a blast. So fun and friendly. Service was amazing! We laughed so hard it was therapeutic!
