The hotel, beach, weather and staff were amazing! Had a great time. Only watch out is don’t go on the dune buggy excursion and the food is okay. Had some delicious meals (Mexican restaurant) but other meals were just okay. Staff is very attentive and room was wonderful. I just don’t think I would leave the resort next time.

Escape to the Beach (and the Pool)
Our family of four (kids ages 8 and 5) spent 4 days at the Majestic Colonial. We really enjoyed our stay and after reading the reviews, I think it met our expectations and exceeded it in some areas as well. Overall, I would recommend staying here. With such a big property and so many people, I don't know how they keep up with it as well as they do. Naturally there are things that need updating or could be better, but we were happy overall with our stay at the Majestic Colonial. It is a very big property so be prepared to walk, but it also did not feel overly crowded even though there were a lot of people, if that makes sense. The grounds of the resort are really pretty - both during the day but especially at night. At no point did we feel unsafe. All the resort staff were very nice and helpful and friendly. Almost everyone spoken English and if someone didn't understand, they did enlist help. We had no problem with the staff at all. They were super nice to our kids and accommodated their requests for lemonades with grenadine and soda water, with a smile. Luis and his team at Taino were particularly great. Check-in wasn't too bad and we did the pre-check-in online. Unsure if that saved time or not. Check out was very easy even if we didn't want to leave. Pool - probably my favorite part of the resort. Love that it spans the entire property. Did not feel crowded at all. Very clean. Swim up bar is fun. Ideally two bartenders would be good but even with just one, wait times were not bad. I think the biggest issue was the lack of loungers. People claim them early! I saw some that weren't touched the entire day. It was a problem for us one time when we came from the beach. Other than that it was OK. I think the areas of the pool that is closest to the beach and La Hispaniola is the best location. Would be nice if they had at least one hot tub. The kids area is further away from the main property. There are water slides and seems like it could be a fun time. But it is worn out and needs some love. But the kids didn't seem to mind. Spent about 1 hour there. Beach - wonderful sand and surf. Very clean, not a ton of seaweed. Easy enough to find a lounger, even one shaded. Was very windy on our last day but other days were just fine. You do have a lot of people trying to sell things which wasn't great. They didn't mind being told no, but is distracting when you're trying to relax. Beware of the cement in parts of the ocean. They apparently are remnants from Hurricane Irma. They are not marked and can hurt. They should mark them. Towels - you get a towel card for each member of your family. You use this to get a towel each day. Be warned, they run out of towels. Restaurants - our favorite was Taino. Great food, great selection, great margaritas. We alternated between Supreme and La Hispaniola for breakfast. Lots of options and standard resort buffet fare. Did not have a problem finding something good to eat. Ate at La Hispaniola for lunch. Similar to breakfast as far as options. Rodeo Grill was very good. The steak and shrimp were delicious. No options for kids, so we ate at Supreme after. Only issue with Rodeo was the wait for the food but understandable too. Lots of people. The food made up for it. Friendly staff. Ma+Suri was good too. But no "show" with the teppanyaki. The server was super friendly (didn't remember her name). Food was very good. Sushi bar was good too. I made the reservation at guest services the first morning and got it for our 3rd night. We also felt fine all the days there - no sickness. I avoided most raw vegetables and the seafood that wasn't fully cooked, but not sure that had anything to do with it. Bars - all bartenders were friendly and the drinks were good. Not that I wanted too, but I didn't feel any effects of the alcohol! It was quite strange. But the drinks were good and well made. Rooms - we had a "junior suite" with a jetted tub in the middle. Beds and pillows were comfortable. But they are double beds, so if you have little ones with you, beware. Fortunately, they setup an extra bed in the room which was a great surprise. It made the sleeping a lot easier. Rooms need updating in some parts. Shower was nice, toilet room (?) was small. Everything was functional and we were only in the room mainly to sleep and change. Wifi is super strong. We put out our Service Please sign each day and the room was cleaned each day, no issue there. However, they do not restock the fridge. It wasn't an issue as we called down for more water and it was brought back no problem. We put the towels we wanted changed in the tub. Otherwise, if they are hung, they won't change them. Don't close the balcony door without someone in the room. If you're outside, you won't be able to get back in. Other things - smoking can be an issue at times. The fire alarm went off once but luckily we were not in our rooms. It was a false alarm. Shows were good - saw the Circus and Magic. They even had a Super Mario kids show which was a surprise. The entertainment team was very enthusiastic. It's not an easy job! I wish they had more garbage cans around as it was hard to find one when you needed it. They should also have water bottle stations around instead of having to wait for a water at the bar. Would have made things a little easier when you only wanted a water. Also, there was limited to no wait staff on the beach or around the pool. You had to go get it yourself. Not an issue unless you expect it.
Everything was great - our butler (David) was incredible!
The trip was great, in all aspects! But what made the trip amazing was our butler, David. He went above and beyond to ensure our trip was perfect! When one of our members got sick, he checked in and delivered food/drink for her. In the birthdays we celebrated, he decorated the rooms and provided a special moment for us. And when we had some specific requests for food options to accommodate the need for Gluten Free (Celiac’s Disease), he personally ensured we were accommodated. He definitely made the trip the best it could possibly be!
