Nov 08, 2025Warning for Families – Unsafe, Unclean, and Poorly Maintained Resort
I rarely write negative reviews, but our experience at Majestic Colonial was so disappointing and unsafe that I feel it’s important to share — especially for families traveling with young children or babies. 1. Room Cleanliness and Basic Maintenance Our room was not properly cleaned or maintained. Basic items like an iron, TV remote, and towels were missing and took several calls to receive. The curtains didn’t close properly, the safe didn’t work more than once. Throughout our stay, we spent hours on the phone and waiting for maintenance just to get basic issues resolved — including baby crib and blankets for the baby. Instead of relaxing, we were constantly troubleshooting problems that should have been addressed before check-in. 2. Access Bracelets Constantly Malfunctioning: The electronic bracelets that open the room doors frequently stopped working, leaving us locked out several times. Each time, we had to walk 15–20 minutes to the front desk to get them reset only to find that they often still didn’t work. My son spent hours trying to get his bracelet fixed, and it was never properly resolved. It was a huge inconvenience that wasted a lot of our vacation time. 3. Food Availability and Food Safety: At the buffet, getting food was a frustrating experience. You often have to fight to get a piece of meat as staff seem to reserve portions for guests who tip more. On top of that, hygiene was extremely concerning . I personally saw an employee washing the slushie machine at the beach bar with a dirty rag while the slushie was still inside. This is completely unsanitary and unacceptable. 4. Electricity Safety: There are serious electrical hazards throughout the resort. Many outlets in the rooms are loose, exposed, or poorly installed, posing a clear risk. Even worse, there was an open high-voltage electrical box on the beach for hours that any child could have touched - a life-threatening safety issue that should never exist in a family resort. 5. Other Safety Hazards Around the Resort: The gym had a strong toxic chemical smell that made me feel ill for the rest of the day. The kids club was full of broken, sharp, and unsafe equipment — not a place where any parent would feel comfortable leaving their child or even coming to the waterpark. 6. Elevators and Accessibility (Especially for Parents): If you’re traveling with a baby or stroller, DO NOT COME HERE. The elevators are almost never working, and you’ll end up spending hours walking around the resort searching for one that does. It’s exhausting, especially when you need to reach the main floor to feed or soothe your baby. 7. Overall Impression: While some staff were kind, it’s clear that management is neglecting basic safety, hygiene, and maintenance standards**. Between the unsafe electrical conditions, constant technical issues, unsanitary food practices, and general disrepair, this was one of the most stressful vacations we’ve ever had. Until major improvements are made, I strongly recommend avoiding Majestic Colonial, especially if you are traveling with children or infants and want a clean room and safety. The beach and the ocean is great , such a shame that we could not enjoy it as half a day was always spent on trying to get basic necessities.

The perfect all inclusive vacation experience
Our vacation was amazing! Our Butler Anderson took care of everything that we needed! Our pool bartenders Katia July and Karina were great and definitely made this a trip to remember!!

I came here with a large group to celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday. The servers in the buffet and on the beach were nothing less than amazing. I would not choose the resort over group perks or celebrations. I was charged $1700 for a private event that was not private at all. The noise from the buffet was a disturbance. When the family started to give speeches the music played so loud. My planner could not get it turned off. I do not have one video of the speeches for my memories to look van in. The tv’s did not work, showers were clogged, robes with no belts, no face rags for the first few days. I was told a room upgrade was applied for my mother and once I realized she had the same room as everyone else I asked the front desk and was told it’s stated but we do not offer that. Unacceptable! She never received a birthday banner until the day before we was due to leave. Our stay was 8 days. When my travel agent reached regarding my complaints she was told there was nothing they could do. I stayed at the elegance in January 2025 and that experience made me want to try this with my family. I would not recommend at all! I had moisture in my closet that caused all of my clothes to get damp. Toilet seat crooked …. I am furious with their response Very dismissive… no care at all

Andrea, at Mixology, is the BEST. Love the vibe and the Alabama!!!! Even made the Dominican Mule with a twist due to allergies!!!
