Lovely hotel with wonderful staff!
This hotel is lovely with a beautiful main building and individual cottages and homes. The staff is wonderful and make this hotel what it is. Special recognition to Duane and John at the private beach and Ernestina and Pearl. There are things they could do better. They need coffee makers and more nice amenities in the rooms (Curio collection standard- creams, etc). They need a small place to buy snacks if someone does not want to drive to a store. I loved the beach but some people are disappointed that it is on the bay side, not ocean side. Lastly, the construction is a distraction, but there is nothing to be done about that. They are real estate.

Best Belize Vacation!!
I can’t say enough great things about this resort. We came here two days after dropping off our youngest to college and it was exactly the trip we needed to help transition to empty nesting! The resort is beautifully set on a mahogany bay and boasts its own private beach club where you can kayak, paddle boat, rest on beautiful in-the-water cabanas or hammocks. The great house is stunning and the food at the hotel is excellent. But what stands out the most about this resort and this island are its people! You will meet some of the kindest, friendliest, most authentic people ever both on and off the resort. From Roberto, our crab driver to the airport, to Dalton who checked us in, Dennis who gave us a tour of the grounds and helped us with bags, John P, John B, Duane, Courtney, Rachel, Sheila, Joshua, Ian and countless others in the food service department, it was just an amazing trip and we intend to come back next year with friends and family!!

Rum and beans! Check it out!
We spent a week in mahogany bay. The staff that stood out the most were the staff at rum and beans! Jessica was absolutely lovely and so friendly! She and her colleague Kayla took good care of us making exceptional drinks and making us feel so at home. Than you for starting our day off right Jessica!

Unimpressed
San Pedro is an hr and half from Belize by boat, better to fly. This hotel is more for business than pleasure. Not very accommodating. No nightly entertainment full with mosquitoes and bugs. Food was subpar! I waited 2 hrs after traveling 12 hrs to settle into my room because ac was giving issues. I had to ask for villa change. Eat outside the hotel food is very fresh and delicious.

READ MY DESCRIPTION AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF
I waited a long time to post a review just to cool down a little. I have never lost my Driver's License or a credit card in the 28 years I have had them. I lost them both in a 7 days here on SEPARATE occassions. I handed them to staff and in the next few minutes to an hour, they were gone. One was for Kayak rental. One was at check out. MB Staff claimed they didn't have it. We searched around. I have a money clip so there's only one place I put them. When I don't have everything in the money clip, I put the clip sideways to remind myself. There's no possible way I lost them. We couldn't locate them anywhere. I cancelled everything in the lobby. It was a frustrating experience. The A/C unit will occassionally leak water on your face in the middle of the night. The TV struggles to get going because it needs to download things to the screen, takes at least 5-6 minutes to get going. My 7 year old said, "the TV is still thinking Daddy." Positives: the people are great. The wait/bar staff were cool. The check in, the getting around was all good. The room was nice and big. Food was great. The A/C works very well. Shower pressure was good. The service to the private beach was great. The pool was lots of fun. I needed something in the room and they brought it in under 10 minutes. All positives there.
