Style and beauty
The cottages were well designed and decorated. We enjoyed the West Indian feel with elegant touches. We particularly enjoyed the staff who were fun to chat with and excellent at their job. Brandon was so pleasant playing soca for us at happy hour and encouraging us to stay to enjoy the cultural night. Which we did and had a wonderful time. Miguel Sr. served us breakfast and shared so much about his home with his cheerful exchanges. These fine people made our stay personal and fun. We also thought Orlando at the taco shack served outstanding food and was wonderful to talk with. We had a wonderful stay.

Visit Ambergris Caye but stay elsewhere
Mahogany Bay is not ready for guests, especially if they have the audacity to charge full prices. I stayed here because, as a Diamond member, I felt safe within the Hilton portfolio and the quality of their hotels/resorts is pretty consistent, or so I thought. It wasn't all bad, the beds are very comfortable and we slept great most nights, the private beach was beautiful, the staff was friendly/helpful, and we loved Ambergris Caye. Unfortunately, Mahogany Bay seems to be a resort in the midst of either a rebrand, rehab, or expansion because the ENTIRE grounds is a construction zone. Gravel, dirt, dust, and construction noise, debris/workers everywhere. Our 1st king keeping suite (which they had upgraded at arrival) had broken windows, no microwave, no coffee maker, no dishes/utensils, 1 washcloth, and (the final straw) a rat problem. We were then upgraded to a 3 bedroom cabin with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and patio along the canal. Well, the patio was a no go as the canals seem to be filled with gray water which smells like you'd expect (windows stayed closed the entire vacation). There was no soap to use the washer (no biggie), no basket in the coffee maker to make coffee, water pooled under the sink due to a leak from somewhere, toiletries in 1 of 2 bathrooms and, again, barely any towels or wash clothes. The cabins feel like camp cabins with wood walls that are painted; however, you can see daylight thru the slats which does allow more smells and sound in. We also did a scuba diving trip which we booked thru the resort. That 1 dive aged me about 10 years because I had NEVER been on a guided dive where divers were instructed NOT to swim to the boat and that the boat would come get you. This resulted in having the dive boat with 2 outboard motors fly directly above our heads while we were doing our safety stop about 15 feet below the surface. Thank god everyone was able to control their buoyancy or a tragedy would've happened. After that, we skipped the 2nd dive and asked to be taken back to shore. Basically, Belize is beautiful, Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker were a dream, but DO NOT stay at Mahogany Bay. For a minimum of $300/nt, you can stay at far better or cheaper options on the island.

Belize January 2023
This resort was very nice. Kind of a plantation look to it. People were extremely nice and helpful. For the most part you could call for something and they were there in minutes. Something especially great was the 2 different incidents that we had and how they were handled. Our friend dropped her billfold one night coming back into their cottage. Security found it a few hours later and returned it right away; everything was still in it. There was a lot of cash, credit cards, etc. and nothing was missing. Then a miss communication with my husband and I. We left our safe literally door standing open. Quite a bit of cash, passports, iPad inside. Nothing was touched. I checked and it was Miss Amparito that cleaned our room that day. So, a great shout out to her for being honest. Also, Dalton, the young man that checked us in. A very pleasant nice young man. A week later I walk in and he found my room by memory. Nice clean, secure place. No real beach on site but they have a private beach island boat ride away. Pool was nice.

Amazing Resort
My friends and I had a fantastic time staying at Mahogany Bay in San Pedro. The resort is gorgeous, clean and spacious, and the management and staff have clearly been thoughtful and taken the time to consider what makes a beach vacation relaxing and fun. The pool and the beach are both excellent experiences, and the food / drink are both top notch. I particular, the staff - including Sharon, Ryan, Oscar, Irwin, Duane, Brandon, Justin, Brian, Armando and Alan - were amazing and made us feel right at home. We stayed for 7 nights and wished we could have stayed for 7 more.

Mahogany Bay is the best - Read Below!
My wife and I first stayed at Mahogany Bay in January 2020 (pre-pandemic) and had an amazing time. We stayed in one of the cottages and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen, especially the shower. That trip was for our anniversary, and we were there for 10 days. We coordinated several activities through concierge, which was seamless, and enjoyed our snorkeling trip, and day trip to the mainland for the ruins and ziplining. I fell in love with the beach club the first day we went there. There was one thing on this trip that stood out more than anything. That was Rachel’s care for my wife. My wife has a very sensitive gluten allergy and even the slightest cross contamination will put her out of commission for at least a day. Once Rachel knew this, she went above and beyond to help my wife navigate her best options for meals. This act of kindness and concern on Rachel’s part, and the beautiful resort is why we fell in love with Belize. We loved it so much that we wanted to share the experience with our 8 children. So, in January 2021 (right after things opened back up), we came back to Mahogany with our children and a couple extras! This time we extended the trip to 14 days and got two of the 3-bedroom houses. The houses were great. So much room to spread out and they had a full kitchen and washer/dryer, which is nice with a big family. We did the same activities as the year prior but added a day on the Catamaran. We all loved it so much we added a second day later in the trip! On this trip, again, the people at Mahogany were amazing and made the trip memorable for the whole family. We were not able to make it down in 2022 and the kids were very disappointed. But we made it back this year for two weeks and it did not disappoint. The minute we walked into the lobby area we felt very welcomed and special because right away Dennis remembered us from our previous trips. Then as we were checking in and getting our welcome drinks (which were amazing) I went over to the lobby bar to grab a bottle of water and Ernestina and Ivan came over to welcome me back to Mahogany! It made us feel like we had just arrived back “home”! This was another amazing trip and I like the addition of the waffle bar in the morning, and I really enjoyed cultural night. Again, the great people there made the trip what it was. Beach Club – Armando, Duane, and Irwin thank you again for several memorable days at the Beach Club! Shaken Bar – Oscar, Tonya, and Sharon – thank you for everything! I know our large group was always scattered around and probably hard to keep track of, but you guys did great, and I hope to see you again in a year! Miguel – thank you for everything, but especially setting up the breakfast for us on the last day! It meant the world to Christy to have everyone (all 15 of us) at one big table for our final meal in Belize! We are looking forward to seeing everyone again in January 2024!
