Fantastic resort, couldn’t fault its facilities at all!
Having used ALL the services, here’s my fair review: The swimming pool is the highlight of the hotel and closely in second is the service. From the moment you are picked up at the airport to checkin (Cindy you were amazing!), table service (special thank you to Wendy, she was super friendly and attentive!) or even if you need direction at the front of the hotel (thank you Jorge for my endless request for directions!) The Los Sueños Marriott Team have a fantastic bunch of people working for them! Breakfast was great, you have a hot buffet with all the usuals, omelette station, fresh waffles, fruit, yoghurts, cereals and a selection of breads and pastries. In terms of dining, The hotel has a steak house, cafe, sushi, bar restaurant and a pool side restaurant but options for vegetarians are quite limited, I did ask for vegetarian sushi (knowing its not hard to make) but the chef declined. The La Iguana Golf Course has been beautifully maintained, I used the driving range - the hotel kindly offers you 2 buckets of golf balls each day of your stay, and will provide you equipment free of charge. Make sure you take the La Iguana Eco Tour, a service offered by the hotel which is included in your resort fee! Sibo spa and gym - sadly the spa was fully booked every time I tried to get a massage. Which just means it must be good! The spa services are quite pricey in comparison to other resorts I’ve stayed at but Costa Rica is generally quite expensive. The gym has pretty much everything you need when on Vacation, from free weights to treadmill and weight machinery. I got a few good workouts. I also noticed it was regularly cleaned which is always a good sign! If I was to return to Costa Rica, I would not be hesitant to book again, but definitely looking out for Vegetarian friendly restaurants nearby! PS: They have a taxi provider and Tour desk on site - for some of the tours you need 2 people minimum but there are a variety of options and at different price points!

BEWARE OF BOOKING TRIPS HERE!
We recently visited in Dec 2022 and booked a trip through the desk at the Marriott to the National Park for a family of 5. We had to pay $625 upfront and give all of our passport information. They called us a day or two later saying the trip was full and we couldn't go. We had to go back to the desk with our credit card so they could write it down to submit a refund. We still have not gotten a refund and the emails and contact info on the receipt don't work. I called the travel area at the Marriott who said it was submitted on 1/3/23 and said to call our bank and gave me their receipt. My bank is not going to do anything with a receipt from Costa Rica that is in spanish. They now won't answer the phone. This is a SCAM and BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The perfect spot for honeymoons.
My newlywed wife and I decided to stay at Los Suenos to celebrate or honeymoon. It has been the best vacation we ever had. AMAZING service. Samuel, Henry, David, Wendy, Jeibi, Victor, along with the rest of the staff were AMAZING. They truly made us feel at home and special. The resort is BEAUTIFUL. It truly encapsulates the beauty of Costa Rica. The view is amazing, you can hear toucans chirping at all times, and being able to see the ocean skyline in one direction and the rainforest mountaintops in the opposite direction is amazing. The food was on the next level. The kitchen grill made the most delicious chicken, steak, and sushi. The bartenders all around the resort were very personable and knowledgeable. They made us traditional Costa Rican shots and cocktails, as well as our personal favorite cocktails (I love a good Negroni). The staff was also very good at suggesting different tours and excursions. All in all, it was the trip of a lifetime and I cannot recommend it enough.

Not a great hotel for Marriott Elite Status, any longer.
This is the only hotel I’ve stayed at that had way better service, cleanliness during the pandemic, than after. The shared space chairs and loungers are dirty, ice machine on our floor doesn’t work and the breakfast buffet is now split between a hot and cold side. If you get free breakfast you now need to pay 20+ extra to have any eggs or hot meat. If you’re a Marriott Elite, it means nothing here, so I’d suggest you take your status, elsewhere, it won’t even get you early check-in theses days. This hotel is a long way from the airport and is very expensive compared to other resorts in the country.

Don't get "trapped" on the Resort
Location is probably the most important thing when making the decision to stay at this Resort. While the property is beautiful and has it's own beach, it's far from town and convenience stores. I saw a review before coming to this resort saying it was like staying in a Florida resort but just in Cost Rica. If you want to enjoy the resort and book a couple excursion than this place is fine. If you want to experience Costa Rica, and Jaco in particular, I would book somewhere else. I will say, due to expensive shuttle and not knowing Uber was a thing, it felt like we were "trapped" on the property. The hotel is clean and staff is friendly but the food was less than average. We tried all the restaurants on site and most meals were warm at best, because service can be a little slow. The prices were my biggest problem. You're paying premium prices for subpar food. When booking Costa Rica I really thought it would be a cheap trip but food prices at this hotel was like being in California and going to nice restaurants but getting cheap restaurant quality. We tried going into "town" which was Jaco but it's not walking distance, you need to get ride. Uber I think is illegal but they do run it, we found out after a few days. The Uber is actually cheap but everything else is expensive. We took a 10 min ride with one of the hotel shuttles and they charged us $35, so make sure to book an Uber. The hotel is clean and nice but does look a little outdated, especially the interior. They've done a great job with remodeling the outside but inside needs a makeover. We also had issues with our door and it getting stuck so sometimes we didn't realize our door was unlocked and cracked instead of closed. My other small complaint was how slow the staff was. We've been to resorts in Cancun and the stuff was friendly and fast. At this location, we had to wait a while to get a table even though many were empty, the problem is no one was cleaning them up and it took a while. It also took a while for the food to come out so most food wasn't even hot. The gym is very small and little room to do anything besides getting on a machine. The beach is ok but far from great. There's not really any sand, it more like dirty and rocks. It felt like being at the river and not at a beach, but the water was warm. Pools are very nice, clean and warm!
