Just okay stay since activities are limited in January.
We had free night certificates we needed to use by the end of January so decided to make a quick trip to Phoenix and stay at this resort. We would probably not do that again since it was obvious that January, while warmer than many places, is still pretty cool in Phoenix and the weather impacts the resorts. The lazy river was drained, water park was closed down, restaurants seemed to be on reduced hours and there were not enough people to have open play pickleball most days. In general, other than business conference attendees, the place was like a ghost town. Obviously we did not do our homework before making our plans, so that was not the hotel’s fault. What was disappointing, though, was as a Gold level member at a Marriott that had lots of empty rooms, we were put in a room that was not in a good location. We suspected that was because we were on free nights. The hotel was well kept and had everything been open there would have been lots to do onsite. So visiting in spring or fall might be a great experience. Just keep in mind that Marriott, unlike their major competitors, does charge a significant resort fee when on points or certificate stays ($55/night) so you do want to go when the activities are available. And the self parking is $27/night which is on the high side for a location that is not center city. Overall we felt that it was a nice stay, but we would probably not go back at the same time of year and are not sure the resort is worth the cost if paying the published rates at any time. There were a few staff members, though, who made us feel very welcome that I’d be remiss not to mention. Regina who helped me rent a bike was super nice and friendly and Duane in the golf club was so helpful in telling my husband how to book his round and rental clubs as a package deal.

Nice stay for business conference
The hotel itself is very nice and located close to a large suburban shopping mall. The rooms are comfortable, and there are several amenities within the hotel that would make a fantastic weekend get away. My favorite part about this is probably the gift shop downstairs! I really enjoyed the amazing selection of gifts. The non-alcoholic beverages at the bar downstairs are also fantastic for Dry January!

Exceptional Service Beyond Expectations - Vanessa Lost + Found Coordinator
I recently stayed at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge and accidentally left behind a very sentimental stroller that has traveled the world with my family. After being told by a few people that it couldn’t be found, Vanessa from Lost and Found stepped in and truly went above and beyond. She personally located our stroller, arranged to ship it back to us right away. Thanks to Vanessa’s dedication and kindness, we were reunited with our precious stroller. This level of service is exactly why I’ll be returning to JW Marriott Desert Ridge—staff like Vanessa make all the difference.

JW Phoenix Desert Ridge is incredible venue!
Wow! JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Springs is a superb hotel venue. All staff were very friendly. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful and are well-maintained. Room was Mountain Biew and very beautiful. Very clean room with apparently new furniture and amenities, such as huge flat screen TV and large master bath suite. Maid service was very friendly and did excellent work keeping our rooms clean. The concierge went above and beyond even before we arrived. I had much difficulty securing a dinner reservation in Sedona (day trip to meet a friend who moved there a few years ago), and she did the leg work to get us a great venue (SaltRock) that was amazing food and views. Thank you to her for her great efforts!! Highly recommended hotel venue!

Proposal gone right!
I wanted to give a huge shout out to everybody that helped me set up my proposal! Savannah set me up with Angelica and Mckenna who took the time to show me all around their beautiful property and their Jingle event. We met Devin who works the pool area and he was incredibly friendly during our brief meeting. We grabbed dinner before our special moment at Kembara and the bartender (taller guy with a taper fade) was friendly and had out drinks our quickly. I highly recommend the crab fried rice and "Tales of the Floating World" cocktail. After our big moment, Mackenzie and Hannah K brought over a bottle of champagne and the whole team was congratulating us when they stopped by. The drink service at the fire tables was both quick and delicious. Whoever is making those espresso martinis is an artist! Everybody we interacted with was beyond friendly and they really went above and beyond to make our night special. As a Marriott employee who has stayed around the country and worked at several different brands, I can honestly say the JW is truly embracing the holiday spirit and taking their service to another level. Thank you all so much - Justin & Bri
