A great hotel but some things need updated

We returned to El Mirador and maybe the law of diminishing returns was at work because this year it didn't feel just quite so wonderful as in the past. Some of the staff are absolutely fantastic but others such as the gentleman running the breakfast service in the speciality restaurant are most definitely not welcoming or accommodating. The food is excellent and while all the rooms, public areas etc are very clean the bathroom fixtures, pillows, patio flooring etc are getting slightly tired. We enjoyed beautiful cocktails in the bar and would have had more if the wicker seats hadn't been so uncomfortable. It is definitely the best hotel we have stayed in in Costa Adeje in terms of location and food but we might just try a different area next year as the "wow" factor has slightly faded.

Luxury, Relaxation and Genuine Hospitality at JOIA El Mirador by Iberostar

We had a really lovely 10-day stay at JOIA El Mirador by Iberostar in late October 2026. From the first day, the staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. As a 5-star adults-only hotel, it is an excellent choice if you are looking for a relaxing and friendly place to stay in Tenerife with a touch of luxury. Our room, or rather apartment, was perfect for us. It had a large bedroom with a sofa, desk and large TV, and the room was air-conditioned. The bathroom was also large, with a powerful water supply, and the Wi-Fi was good with a strong signal. We had a nice verandah with lovely views over the surrounding area, including Playa del Duque. There was plenty of storage space for our clothes and belongings, and the minibar was well stocked, including complimentary tea, coffee and milk. The bed was large and very comfortable, as were the pillows. Our room was cleaned every day and visited at least twice daily for general upkeep, with complimentary chocolates left for us. The food at the hotel was delicious. Breakfast was lavish every morning, with a huge choice of food and drinks. We also had dinner at the hotel on several occasions. Ristorante El Mirador had a different themed buffet each night, and we found the food excellent, varied and good value for money. On our anniversary evening, we ate at the Canarian restaurant El Cenador, where Davide and his team looked after us so well. The food was simply delicious. Most evenings, we relaxed at La Tosca bar. Roberto and his team looked after us very well, with generous drinks and nibbles, while we enjoyed the live music, which was very good and different every night. During the day, we enjoyed drinks and snacks from Las Pardelas, where they make very nice sandwiches and other light options. The large and beautiful swimming pool deserves a special mention. The water was kept slightly tepid, as was the outdoor jacuzzi, and there were always plenty of sunbeds available whenever we went to the pool. The sea is also only about 50 metres from the hotel, so it is easy to pop out for a swim. Most importantly, all the staff were so friendly, from housekeeping and porters to receptionists, chefs and waiters. A special thank you to Tiziana, who looked after us so well at breakfast and made sure we had a lovely flower arrangement and chocolates in our room for our anniversary. It was such a kind touch and we really appreciated it. We would also like to thank Gofran (who also gave us some valuable tips and a tour of the hotel when we first arrived), Josney, Roma, Diana, Roberto and Xavi, who were all so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. To explore Tenerife, you can use the excellent Titsa buses or local taxis, which we found reasonably priced. We left Joia El Mirador with many happy memories and would return without hesitation. It is a truly special hotel, made even better by its wonderful staff, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay in Tenerife.

Yay! We’ve finally found the perfect retreat.

We have stayed in 5* hotels all over the world and there is always something that stops us from going back again. We’ve had sunbeds that are so close together, you practically have to climb over the other holiday makers to get on one and even then, am I interested in Aunty Doreen’s bad foot or which tomatoes Fred the gardener has planted! It’s awful when there’s no privacy and you can hear everyone’s conversations! One year they tried getting us to take part in every pool activity known to man and at one hotel, a gym memembership was mentioned! Each to their own …I admire people who come away and still keep fit and there is a gym here …but we live super busy lives back home and we come away to recharge our batteries and just chilll. We’ve also had cooking that’s worse than mine (and that takes some doing!), neighbours that are nocturnal and the worst thing of all…bathrooms that are not super clean. I have considered packing the contents of my cleaning cupboard when I come away as I have OCD but then the most wonderful thing happened…… we came to the Joia el Mirador. I tried desperately to find fault because we love a good moan back home in Yorkshire but we just couldn’t fault a thing! The food is just beautiful and so varied. We’ve tried B&B but for us, there are so many options that we hate missing out and we stay half board now. Well done to all the chefs. We’re amazed at some of the mouthwatering creations on offer. The cleanliness is exceptional which helps my stress levels and nothing is too much trouble. We upgrade to the Star Prestige, where we have our own private sunbeds on the patio but you can easily get a sunbed anywhere here. It’s quieter in the Star prestige area and you have all day access to premium drinks and nibbles. Is it worth it to upgrade? We’re not huge drinkers unlike some of our friends who could win the “empty the mini bar in one evening” competition but the privacy of having our own sunbeds on our patio ….well that is worth every penny to us. The grounds and pool are gorgeous and the peace and tranquility you get here is so therapeutic. It’s just a “good for the soul” place to stay The staff are attentive, comical, helpful…the sort of people you’d make friends with back home. I haven’t met anyone yet who would go on my annoying list and that’s a first as I seem to attract annoying people on my holidays! This year I had a birthday treat of a Redensifying Collagen Lift facial massage in the hotel spa. Not something I’d do back home but oh my word! It was 70 minutes of pure heaven and I’ve no idea where Nerea trained but she was incredible! I can see me getting stopped at passport control when we go home, as I look too young for my photograph! 😀 That’s definitely on my “to do” list again for next year. We met a new member of staff too this year…Alexis. I thought he said his name was Alexa and we did laugh about him being there to turn the lights on and give us news updates. He’s so friendly and knowledgeable. An asset to the hotel. This is our third time here now and we will be sad to leave. It’s horrendous, going home to Crumpets for breakfast when you’ve experienced the food here! If you’re not a sunbed person and just want a fabulous base to enjoy your holiday, you can’t go wrong here ….or if you’re just like us and you simply want to lie on a sunbed, in peace, near a bar….this hotel is paradise. We’ll be booking again with help from the lovely Diana at reception and if you decide to come too, have a wonderful time!

    Amazing Holiday

We have just returned from the Mirador after having yet again another amazing holiday. We have been staying at the Mirador for many years and I can honestly say it never disappoints . The hotel and its staff are first class in every way nothing is ever to much trouble and they always greet you with a smile. Never worry about not getting a a sun bed there is enough for everyone at any time of the day .I think that management should be aware that some guests were not impressed with the fact that drinking water was being rationed to three bottle per room per day any more requested would be charged. This didn’t apply apparently to all guests. I stay in other 5 star hotels and have never had to pay for drinking water during the day or indeed at dinner. This three bottle rule has only been recently instated ,not a good move.

    Another Great Holiday

Another wonderful visit have lost count of how many times we have been here but is double figures. Love the peaceful atmosphere of star prestige and great views over the bay. Staff are all good so can’t mention everyone but I must thank Letitia, Sofia, Pablo, Paula and the socorista in star prestige. Three people who stand out for us are Tiziana, Diana and the egg man who makes my husband a fresh and tasty omelette every morning.
