Disappointed in entertainment
Just returned from our 5 day trip to iberostar Lindo. Here is my review: * We used Amstar for our private transportation. We loved it! Everyone was so nice and accommodating. We ordered a carseat, and our trip wss perfect. * The resort was clean, beautiful, and staff was amazing. We never felt pressured to tip, but we tipped well our entire stay because we wanted to. * Lindo breakfast buffet was delicious. We enjoyed going there each morning. They don't really change the options, but we each found our favorites with a few new items sprinkled in each morning. IMPORTANT TIP: if traveling with kids bring sandwich bags with you to "sneak" some snacks out with you for the day. I made a pb&j everyday for my son. If you are at the pool or beach and hungry before 1pm you are SOL. no food options around. *Star cafe was really good. They offer cold sandwiches and desserts. * Beach, pools, and Pirate ship kid area were so much fun. Beach had a lot of seaweed our first day, but they were cleaning it up which was impressive. Pool was on the chilly side, but very clean. Our 3 year old absolutely loved the pirate ship! Now for the cons: * The restaurants were nothing to scream about! Every meal all 6 of us were just meh. We are not a picky bunch and eat everything. We ate at the following restaurants. Maya - Mexican and steakhouse Lindo - Italian and seafood (I had my favorite meal at under the sea it was the short rib dinner. It was my only meal where I said it was delicious!) Our biggest CON was the nightly entertainment. It's nonexistent and relies heavily on the kids camp. They put on a show every night. The fire show on the beach was cool, but we were way in the back and couldn't see everything. I was annoyed that you had to pay to see their 2 main shows, and they are pretty expensive. We chose not to see them. Finally, we had a great time. This was a very relaxing vacation. I do not regret choosing the Iberostar, but I do not think we will be returning. I prefer more entertainment and activities at night. Hope this helps
Awesome for everyone
We had such a great time. Our maids name was Eduardo and he was absolutely awesome!!! I have zero complains. We have two young kids 6 and 3. They had the time of their lives. Food, drinks and activities were all fun. Beautiful beach and pools.
This is not a 5 star hotel!
We had a long overdue family vacation at the Lindo this January. I was looking for an authentic, Mexican-style resort and decided to book the Lindo, although the price was almost double than last year and than what I expected, I figured it would be nice to enjoy a 5 star resort, and that for this price it has to be amazing. The resort is beautiful and well-maintained, lots of animals. The staff is nice, helpful and hardworking. Here the pros end. The room was horrible. Broken outlets, mold, dirty towels, dead cockroaches. The second day they took the tip but didn't clean it at all! I complained and asked to be moved to another room, they said they will move us to a remodeled room, which was basically the same but a little cleaner. Here I realized there is absolutely no difference in the hotel levels and this is just a marketing trick. Feel free to book the lower level because they are all absolutely the same. We took a walk there and felt we were deceived by their "levels and tiers" to make us feel we paid for something better. (the joke is on us) The food was not good at all. The drinks were ok, nothing special although. You have to point out you want "premium" alcohol which is not premium anywhere in the world. I thought Cuban food was bad, but after this visit, I will definitely consider going back to Cuba for a better price with the same quality of rooms and food. Don't fall for their "tour". This is their timeshare sales presentation. Now I know why they do it the first day, so you don't have time to get disappointed and realize their timeshare is not worth it. During the presentation, they showed us a beautiful model room and said they will transfer us to one. Didn't happen obviously, although the hotel capacity was at maybe P. The way they push it and think Canadians and Americans are made of money was very annoying. They think their strategy is amazing, but it is so lame. Night entertainment - my 5 year old loved it. figure out the level. Stores- Extremely expensive! a bottle of Perrier was 14 USD, suntan spray 40 USD. Basically 4 times more expensive than outside. Photos 10 USD each but they are beautiful. This trip ruined the overall experience of Mexico, which I loved and considered to be paradise. Will I ever come back to this hotel? I highly doubt it.
Iberostar the crossroad of quality and value
As always a tremendous experience at an Iberostar property. I have stayed with Iberostar 10 times in the past 20 years. All staff members treat you courteously and with a smile -- from the front desk, concierge, bell service, Star Friends, and of course the food service and cooks. Grounds on this property shine. It's beautiful, paradise. Amazing pool, and the nicest beach anywhere. We also stayed in an updated room. Everything was perfect. Food always good, plentiful, and a nice variety. For those who complain, have some perspective. It's not the Four Seasons. But what did you pay for? I enjoyed every meal at the buffet and all the a la carte restaurants. I gained several pounds during our stay. For those who do not tip, shame on you. Each visit I feel outraged watching guests leave tables without leaving a single dollar. These people earn so little while working so very hard. If you took this same vacation in Florida or California you'd pay triple. Spread a little joy, share your good fortune (and, really, will you miss the money you share with the servers, maids, etc.?) Thank you Iberostar. We will return.
Beware- Hotel has 5 different levels of rooms
We will not be coming back. Here is why- We checked in to the Lindo rooms- have not been redone since the 80s. Maybe one working outlet in the room, one in the bathroom. No towels at the beach- they don't tell you this until you get to the beach and have to walk all the way back to the pool- its a bit of a walk. Ridiculous WE WENT FOR THE LAZY RIVER- GUESS WHAT? THEY DON'T TURN IT ON!! I asked 3 people about this - one guy told me, "yes, the water is lazy so it barely moves!" I was so angry because this was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. The beer everywhere is their local beer- they do not carry IPAs anywhere!!! Even at the most expensive level of hotel. If you want a japanese beer- guess what- YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!!!! Yes, it is an all inclusive. The shows were awful except one night. They also high pressure you to pay for better seats for the shows- this is disgusting. Minimum cost if $50! We went to the brazillian restaurant for dinner- they were clearing away the buffet before we went up for a dessert and didn't have the courtesy to tell everyone in the restaurant. Half the water slides were closed for "maintenance." Nothing was going on and we were there for almost a week. Also, they give you a glass water bottle for your use. You get to the gym and then you find out that you should have brought your bottle for working out. They have a water cooler but NO CUPS! They could provide reusuable cups? There weren't any signs in the room that you needed to shlep this 5 pound glass water bottle around with you. Also, if it breaks, you have to pay for it. They weren't being environmental, its called CHEAP. You can see that all they care about is the bottom line. I spent a ton of money before getting there and then upgrading our rooms. Not worth it. The staff was wonderful and kind. I do not recommend this hotel at all- any in the entire resort- there are 5!
