excellent stay for the whoole family/ 9 Person/ for 2 weeks

we all would strongly recommend this hotel for a family stay. Friendly staff, the buffet and restaurants where superb, such a clean resort......rooms, toiletts, restaurants, the beaches. Waterstations everywhere to fill up your filtered water in glas bottles they provided. The kids where so happy. every evening they even could not await the time for the kids shows, whrere they all participated at the stage. A big Thank you to all the staff over there. This was the honey moon trip of my eldest son and the whoole big family was more than happy to this extraordinary stay!

    Extremely disappointing

I recently stayed at Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites. I had previously stayed at Iberostar Riviera Maya and also Iberostar Cancun. I had fantastic experiences at both locations so I was excited to visit Punta Cana and stay at Iberostar. This experience was extremely disappointing and did not meet the quality of service that Iberostar usually provides. The good: the grounds were immaculate and beautifully kept. Truly one of the most beautiful resorts I have stayed at of my 6 all inclusive vacations. The bad: the food was by far the worst food I have had at an all inclusive restaurant. I understand the quality might not always be 5 stars at an all inclusive, but this food was intolerable. The spa: I have had massages at both of my previous Iberostar stays and I get them monthly so I was extremely excited to go to the spa for a couples massage. Our massage therapists basically just rubbed a tub of oil on us without any massaging whatsoever. My masseuse was yawning in my ear the whole time. There was no relaxing music playing. There was a bridal party next door yelling and cheering the entire time (not relaxing at all). Maintenance: our Villa must’ve blown a fuse over night and we lost power which caused our phones not to charge. Our alarms did not go off and we missed our golf tee time. Our TV did not work multiple times and when one of the employees came to fix it he basically just told us it doesn’t work and left. Another time I had come back from the beach to the room to find an employee on a ladder in the ceiling, but he did not speak English so he could not tell me what he was fixing etc. the front desk nor any employee gave us a heads up that they would be fixing anything When we tried to address these issues with the front desk and concierge, no one was able to speak English well enough to understand nor were they able to provide an appropriate number to contact. They did not address the golf issue, which is one of the main reasons why we booked that resort. Their response to our horrible spa experience was for us to again the following day. I am still waiting to hear back from Iberostar about this experience. I had considered becoming a star prestige member because I loved my first 2 experiences so much, but now I don’t know if I will ever visit an Iberostar resort.

Animators were very friendly, positive and involved in everything. Great work guys. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. Different activities for everyone. I highly recommend this hotel. One of the best I was in.

    Selection Bavaro TOP NOTCH RESORT

I we just finished our vacation January 13-20th. Bavaro Suites is a wonderful resort, this was our first time there, we had stayed Rivera Maya for 6-years in a row. The resort was well maintained and the staff was wonderful, I wish I could give more praise for the staff especially Leidy, Reyni, Libierky and the rest of the Prestige Club staff! They were extremely helpful, especially after my wife suffered a broken foot at the pool. The couple of cons in my review are the surfaces in and around the pool, and the approach to the lobby are EXTREMLY SLIPPERY to the pint of being somewhat dangerous. The other con would be there are not a lot of access points for people with disabilities or need to use wheel chairs especially at the SPA getting to the beach. PROS is the staff, they all were helpful, smiling, willing to assist with anything we needed. The property is well maintained and gorgeous. The sunrises were breath taking. The food was delicious no complaints. If you do eat the buffet for breakfast or lunch I recommend the one by the lobby not the beach (Mexican restaurant), I do recommend the grill area next to the Mexican restaurant. The beaches were well maintained, when I was watching the sunrises, the staff was removing the seaweed and kept up with it through out the day. The shows during our very good. If you get the see the Michael Jackson one it was one of the best I have ever seen at any Iberostar.

Less than favorable stay but with a great beach

Unfortunately, our stay at Iberostar was less than ideal. We are well traveled and have stayed at 8 All Inclusive resorts, 2 others that are in the DR. We had a very outdated family room with mold and a strong smell that made me cough the entire trip. When we brought it to the attention of the customer service team, they did little to remedy the situation. They did offer us 2 different rooms in a very remote and far away part of the resort, which we declined as it seemed like they were just trying to shove us away and be done with us. They offered us extra Dominican chocolates and a dehumidifier to help with the smell in the room just a few days after our arrival, but neither ever showed up. We were given 2 30-min massage coupons, which we are very thankful for (see Enice for a great massage). One of the customer service team members would see us and avoid us and did not ask how the rest of our stay was going (nor did he check to see if the dehumidifier showed up). During our stay we were very pleased to find items labeled as gluten free, dairy free, etc. However, we ordered the gluten free items off the menu and were still contaminated twice and 2 of us were not feeling well for the majority of our stay. Many of the staff didn't know what gluten was, which I guess is understandable except for the part about it being labeled on the menu as gluten free. Also, if you can make your reservations before you arrive (up to 7 days before) for the restaurants, I would advise to do so. The Japanese restaurant was the best out of the ones we tried, I definitely recommend that one (and they have a separate gluten free meal for you). The water on the resort is good, nobody was sick from it. They give you glass bottles to fill at filling stations. There wasn't any ice in the stations and we mostly filled our own stainless steel bottles as they are lighter in weight. The waitstaff, bartenders, and housekeeping are very friendly and amazing. The pool and beach were also very well maintained and enjoyable. The grounds are very pretty, though the lighting is dim in many walkways and the buildings are a bit outdated. The entertainment was fine, part of our group really enjoyed the shows and the younger guests of our group didn't have an opinion either way. We won't be returning to Iberostar, the price is simply too high for the quality of the resort and the customer service/gluten contamination really seals the deal for us. However, as I said, the beach was incredible and the majority of the staff are amazing. I tried to upload a bunch of photos but the upload is frozen.
